Murry's is a must in Columbia. The Chicken Poblano is absolutely delicious. My husband loves the salmon and mashed potatoes. Do order the salad and cheese garlic bread and don't forget the ooey gooey butter cake dessert. read more

One of the first restaurants we checked out with our realtor when we moved to Columbia, and eleven years later, Murrys is still one of our favorites...for lunch or dinner! Today we went for lunch. Most people initially complain about the very dim lighting...but just get over it. Eleven years later...it's still dim, so if you sorta need glasses to read a menu...in Murrys, you WILL. There's no doubt. U less you are my husband...who ALWAYS knows what he wants, because he knows what he likes and it never disappoints. He gets the steak sandwich. Every. Time. It's NOT a typical chopped philly steak sandwich...nor does it remotely resemble a steak-um sandwich...at all. (See the photo I attached). It's a honkin hunka beef, cooked to order, on grilled,toasted baguette slices. He loves it, medium rare. Orders fresh cut fries...every time. Generous portion, enough for two. I usually get the tuna steak sandwich with pesto and feta...but sometimes I try something new. Like today. So I needed my readers...and chose the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich...and started us off with an order of their signature powdered sugar coated, batter dipped, green pepper rings....salty, sweet, crispy deliciousness. Just try them. The pork tenderloin sandwich was gargantuan...enough for 3 sandwiches...so I ate 1/3 of the butterflied cutlet and brought the rest home. It was juicy, crispy, hot and tasty. I will add that it came with thin red onion slices, a dill pickle spear and lettuce. I felt it needed a zesty sauce, as I've had it served to me at other restaurants. My favorite accompaniment sauce was a lemony horseradish sauce atop a smoke tenderloin sandwich I had at a bbq place. To just add a little zest, I sliced up my pickle spear and my husband gave me his...and that gave it a flavor kick reminiscent of a chik Fila sandwich. Works for me! A shout out to our most excellent waiter, Dan, who gave great advice and service on what to order...especially the ginger wheat beer! So good! Our time remaining in Columbia is limited, as we just sold our house...and plan to set up new digs in NC. Will need to visit Murrys as many times as possible until then! read more

Delicious food. Seriously, delicious food! Great staff! Waited almost 45 minutes for a table of 7 on a Wednesday night, but the food was worth it. Appetizers were fantastic! Finally got to visit Murry's on a trip to Columbia. This restaurant is so popular that it is difficult to get a table. Our party of 4 secured a table and the food did not disappoint. We enjoyed the calamari and fried green pepper rings as our appetizers. Such a light breading on the calamari and a slight sprinkle of powdered sugar really gave the green peppers a wonderful kick. Entrees included the pork tenderloin sandwich with fries, pork chop with mashed potatoes, lemon pesto chicken and fettuccini with chicken and mushrooms. All so very good. Our group split 2 dinner salads( they are huge), with the house dressing. Lettuce was crisp and fresh! The restaurant was very busy but the food was still fantastic! Best place ever! Piano bar sometimes on the weekends. Small but always packed because it's so good. I can literally make a meal out of all the scrumptious appetizers. Don't even get me started on the desserts. All hand crafted and delicious. They have daily specials and different stuff along with the usual. Small bar but you can eat there too if you want. If you are looking for a reputable establishment with excellent food while in Columbia, MO, look no further than Murry's! It was so good, I went here back to back nights on my recent work trip. I was in Columbia for two days for work and while my taxi driver was taking me to my hotel, I asked him for recommendations and he said that Murry's was close to my hotel. I took note and looked on Yelp later that night. So many times I get recommendations from drivers, locals, etc only to look on Yelp and find a 2-3 star overall rating. However, I was pleased by the ratings and pictures I saw about Murry's so I went on over for dinner that night. On approaching the restaurant, I wasn't totally impressed. It's kind of like in a strip mall, but not really a strip mall? I don't really know what to call it. Anyways, when you walk in, you will notice right away that it is dimly lit in there. Too dimly lit to be honest. It's like your eyes almost have to adjust because it's so much darker in there than outside. On my first night there (Tuesday) I arrived around 5:30p and was quickly seated at a table. However, the next night I went (Wednesday), I went at the same time and it was PACKED! They only had one (literally only one) seat left at the bar and I immediately chose to sit there. Great call on my part because within minutes, there was almost a wall of people behind the bar waiting for any of us to get up. It was insane at how busy it was on a Wednesday night. The first night I went, I got salmon and fries (all meals are served a la carte, which I am not crazy about, but whatevs). The salmon was DELICIOUS! I think all it had was oil, salt, pepper, and butter and it was fantastic. The fries were also spectacular. They were honestly so good, I was picking the crumbs out of the bowl at the end. The second night I went, I opted for a glass of J.Lohr Cab, a Filet, and a garden salad. The salad was okay, but I would have wanted more toppings. I think all it had was lettuce, carrots, cheese and dressing. I love me some tomatoes, croutons, cucumbers, etc. Bad call on my part not to get those delicious fries again! The filet was also great. Not as good as the salmon, but close! The food is for sure 5 stars here, but due to the lighting and the staff, they lose a star from me. Honestly the servers are essentially there to get your order, get your food, etc... I did not at all find them to be overly welcoming, pleasant, etc. I also get the impression they want you in and out (which I guess I have to understand since it's so damn busy there all the time! The more they tables turn, more money for them!). But I would hands down go here again. I would even go out of my way to go here if I'm ever in Columbia again. Make sure you get there at 5:30 or earlier though. This place is tough to get a spot if you're there 6p or after. Love this restaurant! One of my favorites and go-to places. It's fairly dark in there so those with poor eyesight might need someone to guide you through. My only complaint is that they don't have the Gooey Butter cake as often as I would like them to. Overall, great dining experience. read more

Went for my birthday dinner because I had never been here before and heard good things. However the service was terrible, our server rarely checked on us, then after our entrees she immediately brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything. We waited almost 90 minutes and it was worth it!!! The food was delicious and all of the staff was very nice. We started with the fried peppers covered with powdered sugar... surprisingly good! We also had the gooey butter cake and my God it was delicious! We were stuffed! Perfect date night. They do require masks inside and tables are 6 feet apart so you feel safe. There are no chairs at the bar so we ordered drinks while we waited and had them outside. We actually sat in our car and enjoyed them because it was a little cold lol. read more

So this review wont comment much on the establishment much itself as I got my order at the bar, in and out just like that. Did not stay long. I came in at 6ish on a Saturday night to sample the highly touted dessert menu that Murry's is well known for in Columbia. I have never eaten anything from Murry's before till this. I'm a sucker for good cake of all kinds so Murry's was the easy choice of course. The Gooey Butter Cake is said to be the best in Columbia on weekends so I took my chances and went with the crowd to see for myself. For less then 5 bucks you get vanilla ice cream (really good to!) and a square piece of the cake that's about the size of 2 decks of cards give or take. It looks like a large lemon bar at first glance but your taste buds quickly disclose a different story. Its got a creamy texture for the most part with a thicker, crunchy thin bottom crust. A classic rich butter taste with a 1-2 punch of vanilla and tartness to follow. You can even get a hint of the eggs and cream/milk that's likely part of the recipe. Following each bite with a spoonful of ice cream is a perfect match, Now I happen to be a carrot cake fanatic so nothing can compare to my opinions of that but this creation is certainly worth a try if you want to venture past traditional flavors of cake you find elsewhere. read more

Terrible experience. Thought, wow this place has a 30 minute wait on a Monday, must be good right? Wrong. Ordered a dirty vodka martini, dry. Didn't have a drop of olive brine in it; and when I told the waitress, she offered to just bring me over a small glass of olive brine, as if I was going to just mix it up myself at the table. Waited about 30-40 minutes for our food; just to have my medium rare steak sandwich come out medium well. The waitress then ranted to us about how the kitchen had told her the wrong sandwich was mine, while defending herself from the kitchen who apparently blamed her for grabbing the wrong one. I've no doubt she was just trying to offer an explanation, but as a customer I don't really give a shit about who's throwing who under the bus. They did offer to comp the food (just the food, not the drink they also fucked up) but at that point the evening was already ruined. You see I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner, but rather than enjoying her own meal, she spent the entire evening pitying me for having to deal with that shit-show they call service. Great service, great vibe. Came here for the first time for a business lunch with my team. I heard that you kinda have to get here early because the place gets jam packed after 5 pm. They have jazz music. I asked what was good here and my team said that pretty much everything they had here was good. They ran through the list of items they recommended and then they said you have to try the brocks green pepper rings.
