Dinner salad with creamy peppercorn dressing! Very refreshing
Kari W.

Tuesday night at 8:30. Place was packed. Reviews seem to indicate this is THE place to eat in Columbia. Phew. It says "cozy". Cram packed is more like it. Live jazz. Nope. A piano player you could barely hear over the noise. The wait was 30 minutes. No big deal. The "waitress" in the holding pen asked us if we wanted something to drink. Each ordered a beer. $8.09. Gave her $20.25. She gave me a $10 back. That was presumptuous; she cashed us out before our table was ready. Weird. We were seated by the kitchen and bathrooms. We ordered the oysters (phenomenal!), frog legs (excellent), blue corn chip bread (garlic bread with shrimp--just meh), dinner salad with creamy peppercorn (fresh and delightful) and the southwest chicken soup (brothy and excellent with a lot of big pieces of moist chicken breast; great depth of flavor). It was plenty for us as I don't eat much. The service in the dining room was EXCELLENT! She answered questions. She was prompt with food and helped with extra napkins. We would go back for the oysters and crab legs and even the salad! The rest you can keep. Prices are very low and well worth it! We couldn't hear each other talk, let alone even think. Probably won't return.

One of my favorite places to visit when in Columbia food is amazing. Fried green peppers with powdered sugar an amazing delightful simple appetizer. Friendly wait staff romantic atmosphere music both piped in and live depending on the time of day but always beautiful jazz. Love this place!

A family favorite for decades , there's no better place in Columbia to gather & enjoy from a selection of well-executed classics. The ambiance is my ideal: dimly lit, oak furniture and string lights adding subtle warmth. It's comfortable and classy and worn in; Murry's invites you to nestle in stay awhile. Try anything at all on the menu & I'm sure you'll be pleased, but be sure to start with a dinner salad with creamy peppercorn dressing. It's brought up regularly in conversation between my mom and I, we love it so much.

WOW. this is definitely the best restaurant in Columbia. The wine was amazing. My mom who doesn't drink got three glasses. It was so good. The garlic bread was delicious. The French dip was delicious. The steak was amazing amazing quality. The mashed potatoes were also amazing and the chocolate chip cake had a lot of chocolate chips, but it was delicious. They had amazing service. I will be coming back and I cannot wait. The prices are also very reasonable.

where we were sitting, near the kitchen. lightning was a bit darker IRL, but my camera settings made it seem lighter than it was.

after a late night, not many things were open aside from fast food, but Murrys was! me and my friends entered Murrys around 10 pm, and there was no wait, despite it being a relatively full house. the ambiance was absolutely gorgeous. candlelit, but casual, a live band playing in the background, and bountiful amounts of laughter. there's no pressure to dress up, but it's still amazing. their menu is relatively cheap, but their portions are HUGE!!! 8 dollars for a burger the size of my head! only pricey thing is their steak, and appetizers. the food was homey, and easy to customize. the workers were absolute dolls. i will 100% be a regular!

We went here on several recommendations. It was not good at all. I could cook something better and that isn't saying much.

Loved this place. Great food and service. Menu options are good. Only downside is the extreme darkness. It seems a bit unsafe to me.

Fantastic atmosphere, a Columbia classic. Good food, good music and not too bad of a staff. Must try in Columbia.

A columbia favorite. Ask any local and they will give good reviews about Murry's. Good food at a great price.

Is it kid friendly?

Some people bring their kiddos but truthfully, it is always packed, and space is tight - there's not a kid menu and it is dimly lit. I don't think I would bring kids there unless you have no other choice and/or you have kids maybe age 8 and over who… Read more

The good news is, you can't get lupus from going to Lupus. But you can get some really good…read moredown-home music and friendly vibes from the music playing in the general store. I have only been there once, but sometimes you know it when you see it. And this place is a unique gem. Maybe it's not what you'd call "remodeled" or "passes city codes", but it has withstood the test of time good enough for me, and it seem to have an the kind of unpretentiousness where people there don't use big words or anything. My point is, it's not a place that is summed up in a yelp review very well. You sort of have to go there to see it. Some history of Lupus. In 1993 there was like a 100 or 200 year flood, and the town was under 3 feet of water. They got some FEMA money to raise all the houses up like 10 feet. Literally. So you know you're in the right town when you see houses on stilts. Getting to Lupus is quite a drive, but I would say it's a good destination trip. The general store is the second to last building on the left as you head down main street towards the river. If you get to the railroad crossing, you've gone too far. The last building on the right is the city hall. The town has about 40 people in it. Cover is $7 donation, and there is usually a jam afterwards, so bring you instrument if you so desire. Oh yea, the store is also an antique place, and so if you need a player piano, or a kerosine lamp, this is the place for you. Also, this place gets a spot on my best bathrooms list. Enough said. I believe Flyover could be a strong contender for my favorite restaurant in mid Missouri. Our…read morewaitress was sweet and attentive - dinner moved along, but was paced nicely. My drink had a rose petal in it, but that little touch didn't feel contrived or cheeky - it was just a nice pop of color in a great-tasting drink. The baked Boursin cheese was absolutely amazing - I walked out of there realizing I probably ate half a wheel of cheese, and I totally didn't regret it. Dinner was the highlight - I ordered the boom boom shrimp - served on a bed of sushi rice, there were mangos, thinly sliced jalapeños, purple cabbage, shrimp fried to perfection, and a nicely flavored boom boom sauce on top. My only criticism of this place is that plates come out of the kitchen as they make them, so be prepared to share a dish or wait. We were halfway through my dinner before my friend's fish and chips arrived. I'm happy to share, but I'm not a fan of this dining trend. Overall fantastic dinner experience!!

Pretzels were warm and the cheese dip was very tasty. Fettuccine was good. 7/10. Solid. Slightly heavy on the salt. Pasta was good. 6/10. Not what I expected. Service was very nice. Pay online is a bonus, so convenient.
