We changed it out but the battery light kept flashing on and off we thought we need to drive the car so the battery can juice up the car. We drove from Provo to SLC for a graduation and on our way back at around 9000 S. the electrical started going out again and we pulled over at a Maverick. We were told after making a call to a shop that its probably the alternator considering the battery change didnt fix the issue. They also told us that they werent available to take it until the next week which wasnt an option for us because we had to get back for work. I went on Yelp and Best Buds Mobile service popped up with 5 star reviews so I called. The gentleman that answered was genuine as explained that we thought it was the alternator. He gave me a quote that was within what I was willing to pay. I asked him if he had a number to a tow place so I can get it towed to them. He said "its ok we come to you". I was surprised but then "duh" it says "mobile" in their name. He also told me it would probably be about and hour and a half for them to repair. WHAT! It really did seem too good to be true. The shop we had previously called quoted us double what these guys quoted. They literally showed up within 30 min they arrived at that Maverick parking lot and probably less than the time frame he told me it would take them to fix it we were on our way back to Provo and now we are home and our car is running perfectly! These guys are a gem! I Googled the cost to replace the alternator and they were within the range. So Im going to say they are honest. I wish they were in in Vegas. But now we know if there are any car repair needs for us when in Utah or our family we will be reffering Best Buds Mobile Services. He broke it to me that the car required more repairs than it was worth, and that my current shop was not doing a good job at maintaining my car. I brought the new car in for a pre-purchase inspection and WOW, Jessy and his team really showed their true colors on how thorough they are! They checked absolutely everything. They even checked the cabin air filter because he told me that a rodent had built a nest in it. They found things that other shops had missed. Is there such a thing as being too thorough? Jessy might be! But I'd rather have my auto shop be extremely thorough and triple check everything rather than be sloppy and miss things. Let me start by saying that I typically do ALL auto repairs myself, because I learned the hard way…read moreearly on that is difficult to truly trust mechanic shops, unnecessary repairs and upselling. I have been traveling a LOT for work recently, so I had nowhere enough time to do this particular repair myself, so I needed to find a good mechanic to get this done while I was away. Now, I already knew exactly what the problem was (bad alternator in my Highlander), I knew exactly how long it would take to remove the old one, install the new one and reassemble the radiator hose. I also knew ~about what the hourly labor rate 'should' be, so I was already preparing for pushback from any new mechanic I was going to deal with. Well, with a few bids, I heard back from Abril (owner of Timing Auto Repair) almost IMMEDIATELY. I told him what the "symptoms" were, but not much else. He was MORE than accommodating with my quick timeframe for turnaround time and also let me drop the car off the night before my trip. He had the Manager of the shop (Anthony) reach out to me right away to discuss. Well unbelievably enough, they reached out to me and identified the problem... which was EXACTLY what I thought it was and also quoted the EXACT amount of time for labor that I had planned on, as well as the most fair hourly rate amongst all the other bids from competing garages. Their communication was absolutely impeccable and frequent! They even followed up a few days after just to see how everything was running and check to ensure I was satisfied with their work. Let me tell you... NOWHERE in Salt Lake City will you find: 1. A more honest group of mechanics 2. Anyone that provides the level of communication 3. ANYBODY more accommodating 4.
