OK this is a diamond in the rough. You must drive a ways out of Herington to get to the airport on some gravel roads, but definitely worth the car wash later. This place is small and has an engaging family running this restaurant. The food is amazing. Sourced from local farmers. You actually can tell the difference in the food. My husband and I had the country fried steak which we could cut with our forks with real mashed potatoes with peel and a creamy gravy that must be a family secret. The asparagus was cooked with very light spices and was fresh and crunchy. Not the tiny rubbery asparagus you get in the fine dining places in the big cities. This was fat crisp asparagus from the garden. We did not have dessert, but crème brûlée and tiramisu were visible at the ordering counter. I am amazed at the prices for farm fresh food. My husband I got a fabulous meal for under $50 for both meals. Go visit Murphy's Kitchen if you are driving around Herington, KS. It will not disappoint for food. The small restaurant is a family place, so plants in the window and legos on the floor. Kids are helping out. Go with an open mind. read more
