This used to be one of the gift shop outposts to the Museum of Fine Arts which much to my sadness closed this past year. So for awhile now I've wondered what they were turning that space into and what was it that was lurking behind those papered windows. Eventually a sign went up stating: Uno de 50 would soon be opening. Well, today was opening day and what I found was a collection of necklaces, bracelets, cuffs, rings and watches that are so sincerely right up my silver jewelry loving alley. I saw dozens of pieces that I drew me to it like a moth to a flame and I fell in love. The pieces are unique, cool, edgy, but not so far over the top as to be a cliché. Many of the pieces can be considered uni-sex in design. I adored a silver cuff-style bracelet that you wrap with a piece of thin leather and then buckle. The jewelry stands alone as wearable art. Many of the pieces, in addition to leather components against the silver, have inlays of various stones or other materials like resin and glass. The company started in the 1990s and is still headquartered in Madrid where all the design and manufacturing is still done. Prices are very reasonable. Uno de 50 has shops all over the world and now we're lucky enough to have one in Boston. One issue of course is that with so many stores world-wide, none of this jewelry is unique. What I buy in Boston can likely be purchased in their store in Malta or Kuwait or wherever. And that means I could easily find others wearing the pieces that I select. I can live with that; not for all my jewelry of course but certainly I've had that experience before with shops like this. The service I received today was heavenly with the staff looking chic and happy and of course most attentive and eager on this the opening day. I still have a lot to see and learn about this jewelry but I can't wait to go back and check it all out. I'm buying something for sure.

I was no longer in Spain so I waited to email Uno once I was home. Emails bounced back and forth and then COVID. A year and a day later I called the Faneuil Hall store, spoke to Angie and explained my situation. After contacting her Regional manager she rang me back the next day. I was good to come in and exchange the ring! I went in with my mile long receipt..as I had purchased many Uno items. No problem with the return, Angie was happy to exchange it! I will definitely be back to purchase some more!
