Sam (CPA who prepared my return) and Stan (office manager) did a fantastic job handling my and my…read moreparent's taxes this year, which were both more complex than usual. Communication was excellent ... quick, clear, and at just the right level. Most of my questions were answered quickly through their portal or via a quick call. Their portal is easy to use & efficient. I liked that I could actually see how each document was used, with markers showing exactly where numbers were pulled from in the PDFs. Their fee was reasonable, and I believe I more than made that back through their expertise. They caught items that my previous tax preparer missed, which made a real difference. If your taxes involve more than just basic W-2s or 1099s, I highly recommend working with a knowledgeable CPA like Sam. She and Stan are both great to work with. ------------ NOTE: This review is entirely my own and written solely at my own initiative. This year, she simply stopped responding altogether. no replies to multiple follow-ups, no updates, nothing. My brother had already stopped working with her the year before due to the same issues: chronic delays, lack of urgency, and total disregard for deadlines. If you enjoy being ignored after turning in all your documents on time, getting ghosted after multiple emails, and scrambling to file extensions because your tax preparer vanished. then by all means, work with Irene. Stellar. If I can…read moreonly use one word to define the experience I received, it is stellar. Gill Tax Group (GTG) took me in last minute, thoroughly reviewed my returns after I had a hiccup with TurboTax and discovered that the TurboTax software did not flag the necessity to file in another state.* Had GTG not checked this and had I relied on TurboTax, I would have been subject to a review and possible full audit by not only the California Franchise Tax Board, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but also the Internal Revenue Service. GTG cares and is very thorough. If they make a commitment to help, they have proven that be true. Trying to get through to TurboTax customer service was a nightmare and nobody understands what I'm asking or trying to do, notwithstanding the technical gliches they have. GTG understood came through and took over immediately and filed expeditiously--and I am very thankful. I cannot recommend this wonderful firm enough to others. * Had I opted for the "audit free protection" offered by TurboTax, it would likely have been denied because it only protects you in the State you file. TurboTax did not recognize that I needed to file a return in another state and therefore I would have l been denied the protection had I went that route if I were to be reviewed and audited. WTG GTG! Thank you for the rescue and peace of mind =)
