New to the area, we went to this dentist (Vixiane Sengsouvanh) because his office was very close to where we live. Following x-rays and and examination, he recommended several crowns. This seemed reasonable enough so work began on the first crown. Having had fillings before, I had received injections from other dentists and while they are not pleasant, I do know that the technique with which the injection is administered can make the process less painful. Vixiane did not administer the shots in a less painful way. The shot was quite painful and he administered it rather quickly. This hurried manner became a theme throughout the treatment.
Before I was totally numb, he began work and of course, that was painful. I complained and so he administered additional injections. Finally the process was over (I will not go through any more of the gory details) but I was sent home with a temporary to await to new crown. Told it would take 3 to 4 weeks, I waited (instead) about 6 weeks!
I returned to the office and again, did not get numb enough and (in a very nice way) he blamed ME. He acted as if I was "unusual" to not become numb, although I explained this had never occurred to me before. He said perhaps I should come early in the morning as I might get numb more easily! He was always trying to book early appointments...I will not speculate as to why.
Moving right along, in a semi-numb state, he began work again...painfully....but saying he could not administer any more injections this time. Oh my goodness!!!
He attempted to put the new crown into the space, but it was too large. Finally, the process was aborted and I was told he would ask the lab to make a new crown and I would come back.
The new crown came in after many more weeks of waiting. I went back, (crazy me) and again I did not get totally numb. Now he said the color of the new crown was perfect! I said..."but the color was not the issue....it was the size." He looked at me with a "deer in the headlights" look. (Uh oh)
Yes, you guess it. This second crown did not fit. I could see it was too large when he showed it to me, boasting about the lovely color! I said, "but it's too big!" After about an hour of trying to get it into my mouth he gave up and let me go home....putting the same temporary in once again...and I think this time he made a second impression.
Would you believe he wanted me to go back yet again! I went home and the more I thought about this experience and discussed it with my husband and my son, I knew that I could not, would not, return to this dentist for any more work. I began to search for a new dentist who would take me and FIX the problem begun by Vixiane.
I found a new dentist and am extremely with his work. My new crown is in, the shots did not hurt much at all, the work was done right the first time without incident.
Vixiane did not want to, and still has not, turned over my x-rays to the new dentist so I had to get a new set of X-rays. I signed the release forms but he resisted sending the x-rays and I don't want to have to deal with him again. He has a nice way about him but in the end I don't believe him to be a very good dentist. The fact that he did not turn over my X-rays truly disappointed me. It's one thing to botch the work and quite another not to work with the new dentist.
Needless to say I will never return to this dentist. My husband and I now drive about 30 minutes to our new dentist but it is well worth the trip. read more
