What a beautiful city park with views of the surrounding area. I've always been impressed by the…read morecity parks in neighboring Tualatin and Wilsonville, but Sherwood has got it going on too. Located at the top of Sunset Boulevard, this park has a very well maintained baseball field, lacrosse/soccer field with artificial turf and electronic scoreboard, tennis and basketball courts and multiple play structures. The water feature is set up like a stream, rather than a spray ground, and really the entire park was very well designed to provide a little bit of everything for the community. As a venue for watching a game, I loved the gentle slope that provided plenty of seating for parents to either set up chairs or blankets on different levels. Even though it all looks very modern, the park has a nice amount of mature trees to provide shade and a large covered structure for parties and gatherings that is essential for events 10 months out of the year. They even had a concession stand running during our visit so you could buy food and have a picnic. I kind of hope we have more games out in Sherwood.

I'm a local environmental science and botany teacher who does a lot with my students in the park…read more The City of Sherwood officials who manage the park are really open to us being there all the time (like 1-2 times per week with a total of 34 kids at a time). In return, we give back: annual trash pickups, painting over graffiti, planting native trees and shrubs, installing plaques, etc. It's a great partnership. We utilize the trails to ID plants, analyze water quality in Cedar Creek, catch insects, use the field for large activities... It's really helpful. Plus, there's a decent bathroom and a great play structure if we finish a lesson early.

Beautiful | family-friendly…read more We're pretty lucky to have places like this in Wilsonville. I'm so thankful for it. It's dog friendly (some trails) and must be kept on leash. The main trail, before breaking off into other small ones, is paved. We parked in the residential area to begin the walk. We then broke off to go into the woods. It was a very short loop, but it was SO beautiful, especially during the fall season. It's a popular spot to exercise and take your kids to.

The is also a path of crushed granite that winds through a short forest area that is nice. My wife doesn't like the sound of the crunching rocks on the path. They are fine with me. We have seen some great wildflowers and many deer that hang out here. It's not that large of a park, but a nice walk. If it is really hot out, the paved path has no shade so don't do it mid day if you don't like the heat.

When we moved five years ago to Wilsonville, one of the highlights of this town are its open spaces and how family-friendly it is. This is just one of many parks in town. It's expansive too! It is located right across the street from the library and they offer so much-- water play (Murase Plaza), structured play, event spaces, nature play, tennis courts, soccer and baseball field, skate park, nature trails, disc golf, and fishing/boat dock. It is also stunning during the fall season with the trees in orange, red, and yellow. Parks and Rec are always maintaining this place. The latest addition to the park is the natural playground, and that is where we took our toddler recently. She LOVED it. She made some friends pretending to fish in the canoe and hang out in the teepees. The sand pit is a big hit too. Whether you're a family visiting or a local, I highly recommend checking this place out.

Many can walk around, bring their own boats/kayaks/SUP to launch off the ramp, fish on the river, or have a picnic. It's beautiful here, but it's also very popular over the summer months when folks want to use this place to launch off the ramp. Parking is hard to find. At this spot, you can rent through the Tualatin Riverkeepers. They provided life vests and the kayak of our choice. It was great paddling out on the water with my kid. We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here.

Originally the site of a ferry service across the Tualatin River for the pioneers in the late 1800's, this park now offers kayak rentals and a seasonal summer camp. Running parallel to the river, Brown's Ferry Park has a variety of walking trails, an open field nature reserve, and a small pond. The information signs tell the story of the area, from the type of native species you can encounter to the tale of the native Atfalati people that once lived here. Take some time for a relaxing walk through the park, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

**COVID REVIEW**…read more Super cute new neighborhood park in River Terrace. It has both a "big" and "little" kid play area. In the little kid area there is what my kids deemed an "obstacle" course. It was a lot of fun for them to get out and into the sunshine. When we arrived the other two families that were there were masked and observing social distancing. There is a basketball court a bit further towards the intersection for kids and in between the big and little kid areas there is a covered shelter which would be nice in the warmer days to come. The equipment is all brand new and a lot of fun. My kids are both nearly 6&8 and loved the slides and climbing. As far as COVID protocols it's not monitored so it's up to individual families. We left, as did the two other families that arrived at the same time as we did, when two very large groups who were both unmasked, arrived. Nothing you can do except leave! I would definitely try it again but maybe not "after" school hours. The parking is only street parking if you drive there and it's not plentiful.
