Just to start with the most pressing issue, I can't possibly be the only one wondering if there's a…read moredead body hiding in one of the cars or trunks on the Super 8 side of the store. It smells SO AWFUL. If the stench is not coming from one of the cars parked along that side of the building, then it has to be coming from the building, itself. If there is not a dead body on the side of the Fred Meyer store, then they have some kind of seriously disgusting issue with rot or mold that literally smells like a dead body. There is NO WAY the employees haven't noticed. The checker assistants have to go over there to collect carts. I'm not exaggerating when I say it smells like something is dead over there. Someone needs to figure out where that smell is coming from. It's a health hazard on the basis of how bad it smells alone, but nothing smells that bad without there being a biological cause. It smells bad enough to merit three paragraphs. If it is an employee's car, this is one of those cases where they need to be written up for disgustingly unacceptable hygiene. There is no acceptable excuse for any area of a grocery store to smell like that. My second most pressing issue with this store would be the weights and measures. Is Weights and Measures like, not even a thing in Oregon? Because the sale tags at this Fred Meyer are wrong *more often than not*. They do a great job of putting tags up, but it doesn't seem to be anyone's job to take them down. I've been to this Fred Meyer a few dozen times, and it feels like I've caught at least one price error on every single visit. It's so bad that it almost feels intentional. You think you're getting low prices, and if you don't pay very close attention at the register, you might not even notice that such an incredibly high percentage of the sales tags are expired. I'm not saying this as someone who is angry with Fred Meyer. I still shop here. I've just stopped believing the sales tags. For example, a few days ago I was going to buy a bag of Nature's Path Peanut Butter granola, because it was marked down to $2.99. I even checked the tag to make sure it wasn't expired, and it wasn't. I actually like the chocolate flavor better, but it was $4 more. I specifically chose the peanut butter flavor because it was on sale. But even after I hit 'total,' the price was still $6.99. It's like the sales tag was just completely made up. Weights and Measures would have such a field day in this Fred Meyer store. I bet they could raise enough money from bin label error fines to pay for all kinds of community necessities. Third, the handicapped restroom in the women's room has a door that is impossible to lock, and it has been this way for at least sixteen weeks. I'm kind of hoping they get sued by someone in a wheelchair, at this point. That's so messed up to let sixteen weeks go by without fixing that. In case management reads this and decides to address the issue, they need to make sure the door can be locked by someone without much physical strength. If the door needs to be lifted up to lock, then it is absolutely not accessible. How would a person in a wheelchair lift the whole entire door up to get the latch to fit? I wasn't even able to do it with all my strength, and I tried pretty hard. I haven't had any issues with product quality or employee attitudes, as a lot of other reviews mention. The employees I've come across have been friendly, if it can be considered friendly to not care that most of your customers are being deceived and overcharged. So, like I said, I would still shop here, but carefully. Keep in mind that most of the sales tags are mythological. And don't park on the Super 8 side of the store unless you're able to hold your breath on your way to/from your car.

Is this someone's idea of a sick joke? My first experience in this store while searching for cheese was a lengthy experience and left me feeling dehydrated. Don't even get me started on how long it took me to find the sour cream (which lives by its lonesome on the end of an isle. Because that makes sense). The set up of this store just makes zero sense to me. It's so odd. The only reason I keep going back is because the parking lot isn't near the nightmare of the FM parking lot across the way. That place is a total life death trap! (I'm not exaggerating... drivers in TD are the worst and that parking lot is small. It's terrifying). Can we all just agree that Safeway self checks outs have really missed the mark? Having to scroll through 500 other items that start with L, M, N, O to select "onion" is enough to make me punch a puppy!! Just let us type the word on the screen already!!! FM lets me do that.... Why won't you? Arggggg. Safeway, you smug bastard you. Ps. I commend them for their beer selection. Far superior to that of FM.

Great market to pick up Mexican pantry items, tortillas, salsas, candy, rice, conchas and produce…read more What I like the best is the meat counter where you can buy carnitas marinated and ready to grill at home for authentic tacos. But it's the customer service that really stands out. On my way to a pig roast, I went to Angel's Bajery downtown, who always has trays of the molasses pig cookies. Not this day! So I did a search for Mexican Markets which led me to La Michoacana, a bright yellow building further up in a neighborhood. I found bags of mixed pastries up on the top area, but no bags of just pig cookies. The bags were only $10 each, but I couldn't justify buying 6 bags just to get a few of the desired cookies. The young lady working that day said, "give me a minute." Then she came back with a bag of the cookies, after taking all the bags apart and rearranging the packages so that I could buy a half dozen cookies. What? Now that's service. So of course while I was there, I loaded up on pantry items, tortillas, bought the carnitas and some fresh tamales, plus the cookies. Her helpfulness resulted in me making a much larger purchase than intended. When I brought the tray to the party, everyone thought it was a genius idea - so cute, pig cookies at a pig roast - and after I told the story, everyone asked for the name and address so they could support this business. And I now support them frequently. 5 stars all the way!

Clothing is brand new, never worn, and ranges from t-shirts to jackets to sweatpants to sweaters and accessories. You never know what you will find as product is always moving. Same with food items. Pasta, cookies, cereal, canned veggies and fruit, candy, bread, coffee, seasonings, soda, bottle water, lots of snacks and more. They are close to expiration but most have a shelf life far past that date. Items are arranged neatly and easy to see and find. Lots of cleaning products, too. Many are the Awesome brand found at the Dollar stores but they also have the main brands like Clorox, Windex, Snuggle, etc. What brought me in was the rakes, shovels and yard tools. They had a large assortment and at much better prices than big box or local chains. Even some planters in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors for far less money than elsewhere. Like $5-10. You need to wander around as the store has aisles going both vertical and horizontal and pathways that lead to areas which I guess could be considered a "department" like the garden supplies. Those working here are always unpacking items, arranging product and keeping the store organized and clean. They are super friendly and helpful, too.

That being said,…read more I've noticed that the local Chef's Store is woefully under-stocked, lacks satisfactory customer service (except for a couple employees like Mali, Albert and Josh) and doesn't seem to care about the safety of their customers. I've noticed that, unless there's a corporate visit expected, the place is an absolute mess. On more than one occasion, I have experienced or seen other customers, almost slip and fall in the freezer (see attached photos). It is too difficult to carry the boxes out of the freezer, let alone navigate an obstacle course of debris, icy floors and pallets that are just put willy-nilly. Every occasion that I absolutely have to shop there due to limited choices in this town, I have observed a few select employees that do little to no work, especially freight and helping customers, on a regular basis. The attached pictures are a one day example of the state their freezer is usually in. I refuse to get hurt, which has almost happened on almost every visit I've been there, because of employee laziness. I'm hoping this review gets the notice of the store and these issues can be rectified.
