Intimate dining space with well made Italian food to match. Had an RSVP for a weekday dinner. Was busy, but not loud - loved how it wasn't noisy and you can hear others at your table. Had 3 courses + dessert, but really should have opted for 2 courses + dessert - was a lot of food haha. Had a couple drinks, a canapé, prosciutto (I believe was the type of meat), and bread to start. FYI the meat is also unlimited, just as is the bread. Def good times. Then went to pasta courses - the risotto and the artichoke pastas were out of this world. The next was another pasta dish and the steak. These were both well made but started getting full. Then came the fish and pork - they were also delicious but we were definitely slowing down. Great spot just off Kurzon Street, formerly a Gordon Ramsay restaurant but now it is much much better! Dinner is delicious but I think lunch is the best value they have several menus to choose from with numerous courses, we selected the simple lunch menu and it was ample for our hungry group. Started off with delicious bread, shaved Serano ham, olives and some Parmesan churros, all complementary. Next I had the grilled asparagus deliciously interesting and pollock, a light flaky fish similar to cod. Dessert was a wonderful raspberry tart with crème fraîche. The choose your own adventure on the courses: 3,4,5 or 6 is perfect and lets people decide how much food and variety they want. I went for lunch with a friend. Beautiful dining room decor. Fixed price lunch at 55 pounds for 3 courses was good value for this level of restaurant. Stone fruit salad for starter was exceptional. Pork shoulder was tasty but a 4.5/5. Vegetables were seasonal beans. Plum tart was excellent . Service was excellent. Location excellent. Murano is a stylish Italian restaurant in likeable Mayfair. On this occasion we ordered from the lunch set lunch menu and were extremely pleased with the breadth of offering and cuisine produced. On arrival we were welcomed with a selection of fresh beads and crosstini, olive oil from Sicily and pickled vegetables and cured meat. An impressive array of antipasti. The olive oil, so good, I could imagine drinking the remainder of the bowl (although knew better given the eloquent surrounds). The mussel fettuccine was perfectly balanced in flavour and then pasta al dente enough, without retiring on the top hard side. Perfetto! For main, I ordered the pork cutlet with Parmesan crust. Tender, flavoursome, absolutely divine! A couple of glasses of wonderful Italian wine (Piediamonte origin) was the perfect accompaniment to an exquisite lunch. read more

The service was definitely confusing. One of our servers seemed to be a trainee and she probably could have used a bit more supervision. The food was good but, I think I expected more. After badgering my husband (who's been to Murano twice without me - HOW RUDE), we decided to go for a spontaneous three-course lunch on Saturday afternoon. Luckily, there was one table left to book, and we made it just in time for our 12 pm reservation. I love the understated elegance of the restaurant. It's discreet without being showy, and the tables are strategically placed so that you never feel like you're on top of other diners. I agree that the setting is formal, without being intimidatingly so. Staff were disarming and relaxed, and I appreciated the flexibility of the menu (i.e. being able to order any item from the ala carte menu in a starter/main size). My husband ordered off the set menu (3 courses for £33) and started with the sea bream ceviche, followed by the rump steak. But I forgot the best bit ... the charcuterie, breads, and amuse bouche which are immediately whisked to your table prior to even receiving the menus! Now *that* is the way to greet a customer in a restaurant. I had the crab salad to start, which was delicate and light, and the clam linguine with samphire for my main course - both very satisfying and just the right portions. We managed to fit in a dessert of roasted figs and sorbet too, which went down particularly well as it wasn't too sweet. Despite being relatively full, we were at no point rushed out of our seats. Loved my lunch here. We had the lunch special - £33 for three courses, or £28 for two and £8 supplement for the cheese course. All the little extras really make this a delightful experience - fresh Italian breads with salami and olive oil to kick things off. Fruity mousse palate cleansers and refreshing jellies ended the meal. Every mouthful of each course was wonderful. Lamb starter was melty tender, while the linguine with taleggio was buttery fresh, and obviously hand-made. My dessert - chocolate hazelnut mousse with salted caramel ice-cream - was equally satisfying. My companions ordered the cheese course, and got to select about five different cheeses with crackers and breads. The atmosphere is formal but not so stuffy that you feel you have to whisper. I came here for dinner last night with my family. We had a reservation for 9:15pm but got there an hr early because our tour at the Harry Potter Studios was finished early. They graciously seated us. Unfortunately we didn't look our best because we were out all day but that didn't deter us from enjoying a great meal. The menu was flexible. You can choose 2-5 courses for £55- £95 and anything could be an entree or main course. Dessert is it's own separate course. For starters, the restaurant gave us complimentary small plates of croquettes and cheese tart types of dishes. Then we got a bread dish and cured ham dish. After that, we finally started eating our entrees. I had the risotto. It was my first time having this and I highly recommend it. It was very creamy, although there was a lot of salt and butter added to it. For my main course, I had the aged dry beef. It came with 3 slices of meat and a few small side garnishes. The meat was very tender and was easily cut with a knife. I was so full by the end, I did not have room to enjoy a dessert. That was until our waitress handed us dessert spoons and she told us that there was complimentary dessert. It was tiramisu in a shot glass. Even though it was small, it satisfied my sweet tooth (and it was free). We all enjoyed our meals and for an upscale restaurant to give so many complimentary dishes was a surprise. I brought my wife and another couple here for NYE. Expectations were very high as I have dined here before and it was wonderful. There was a 7-course tasting menu for £150 each. 4 of the dishes had options to choose from. To be honest, everything was great until we got to the fish course. My wife had the monkfish and it had bones in it... which would have been fine but the server failed to mention this. It was also a bit undercooked. Everything else was pretty good, especially the risotto. I can't give more than three stars though... for the price we paid, I was expecting more quality and a bit more creativity. Have to knock 2 stars off this review for the service (forgetting to ask if we wanted desert, instead, they cleaned up around us and offered us the bill). I made a 9pm booking for this restaurant on the same afternoon. As the waitress was explaining the menu and the specials to us, she failed to mention that not all of the items were available. In fact, she did not say anything about this....we found out as we ordered the items and she went off with our orders, only to return to say 'oh sorry, we don't have any of that left' - 4 times!! Overall, the place has a nice ambience & the food (that was available) tasted really good. The complementary little ham & Cheese balls were fab, as were the bread and different meats that we received at the beginning of the evening. The portions were quite small, but tasty. I guess the staff realised their lack of Michelin star service because they gave each of us a small plate of yummy tortellini with fresh truffle shavings in between courses and knocked the 2 bottles of good wine off the bill.... Overall, great tasting food, but unfortunately, the service and lack of dishes available to us (from that day's menu) let them down. Considering the prices and the fact that it has a Michelin star really should make them more aware of customer service and overall dining experience. Not a place I'd return to in a hurry. read more

Quiet and elegant, Murano feels very grown-up. The sort of place you take someone to impress and know going in you will not be disappointed. The menu is broken down into courses and price depends on if you choose 2, 3, or 4 courses. The food is as one would expect, delicious and refined, and the presentation is polished. Service is flawless and timed perfectly. The wine list is impressive and the sommallier was very approachable and helped pick some excellent choices. Overall there is nothing to fault this stylish restaurant as everything was near perfection. But it did lack a bit of its own personality, something that makes it unique. Other than that, the dinning experience was very enjoyable, and I want to go back. Especially since I am craving the amazing pistachio souffle with chocolate sauce. Heavenly! read more

One of my most memorable meals in London was at Murano. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding. I loved the pea and wild garlic soup; the garlic was subtle. I chose the pork belly and loin dish and wish I had not asked for well done since the loin was a tad dry. The pistachio soufflé was superb and so was the tart the staff presented to me as a birthday treat. We were surprised to be provided with 2 more treats after the desserts. read more

I've always thought Angela Hartnett a bit of a miserable old sour puss when I've seen her on telly. But after our visit to Murano I see her in a new light. Generous hostess, some lovely quirks and no little style. And a bit of a forward thinker maybe too. The sour puss has had a total gok makeover in my mind. From the outside it's pretty unspectacular, nestled in an ugly unkempt building. Not what you'd maybe hope for from a Mayfair joint. But once inside that all changes. The place has a feeling of space though it's not big. Low lights, lush furnishings, big tables. Lovely. I don't know how to describe the decor. It's part old, part stylish, part quirky. It's different for sure and it makes you feel like sinking into your comfy chair for the night. The greeting is warm and friendly but remains professional and smart at all times. You feel like you're on a night out. The menu is a dream. It's split into bits. Starters, mains, more substantial mains and puddings. But the thing is, and get this, you can choose what you want from any bit and what size you want it to be. It almost blew my mind. I read the menu and said to the missus that I could have all the first three things on there. And she told me 'well have them then!' Joy. That's exactly what I did. Three courses. A scallop cervice. Followed by an octupus salad. Followed by Quail with iberico ham. All fantastic. beautifully delivered and served. full of flavour. Perfect. And this after we devoured a plate of moist tender charcuterie with great sourdough. This was on the house. In fact it was too much food, but we weren't complaining. The missus had some lamb and goats cheese cream which was also divine. I can't remember what else. But it was all divine. And served by people only too happy to natter to two slightly drunk fools. The sommelier was ever so helpful and recommended a great bottle of wine. We didn't really want to leave if truth be told. a beautiful night. I noticed there's some sort of big table at the back. Is it a chef's table? That would be fun. The place was buzzing too, full up throughout our time there, but always maintained a sense of calm too. A perfect balance. The bill wasn't cheap. But it was worth every penny and if you're out on a treat like we were, I can't recommend highly enough. And the great thing is, because of the ingenious way the menu is devised you can do it far more reasonably than we did. This is the type of restaurant that merits a course by course play by play. This is not one of those reviews as I simply cannot be bothered. Whether that speaks to the food or not... yea, it probably does. Not that it was in any way lacking. No, it was one of the nicest dinners I have had since moving to London. But did it match up with other similar Michelin starred experiences I've had? Possibly not. Though, honestly, that is probably more of a subjective taste thing than anything else. The highlights, for me, were: 1) Impeccable service,2) Gnocci with truffle, 3) Sea scallop with squid ink risotto, and 4) the Caramel mousse, which was a huge portion, but light as air to the point where it was basically probably only a few tablespoons of actual substance. Really yummy. There were some forgettable courses, however (delicious... but missing a wow factor) and one shouldn't have anything forgettable at these prices. read more

This is a small restaurant, but somehow it felt larger when sitting down. The decor was wonderful. The wifey's friend was celebrating a birthday, and we were excited to join them in Ramsey's establishment. The service was wonderful. From the time the hostess greeted us and checked our coats to our exit, we felt welcome. The food was good. It was nothing to write home about, unfortunately. This is coming from a guy who would rather go to Rome and eat grandma's pasta than eat at the French Laundry. Ridiculous, right? The only thing that I remember was the lobster linguine. Why? Was it delicious? I don't know, someone else had ordered it. The waiter somehow thought that it be important that it was 5 pounds more if ordered from the prefix menu by telling us twice. I thought that I was stuck in a space-time continuum. He was an endearing fellow who ate one too many strudel. He smiled nervously as he reiterated the menu discretion as if he practiced it in front of the mirror of the restaurant bathroom. I really loved Murano! We happened upon it while walking around one night and it looked so inviting that we stopped in. We were very glad we did!! The risotto was amazing! Also the pasta fish my boyfriend had looked tremendous. There's not much in the way of Italian good in London (at least, not what we found!) but this fits the bill and it was steps from our hotel. I take off one star for the service, but service in London differs greatly from America, though I've had way better service than this in London. However: Fantastico!! read more

I was fortunate to celebrate my birthday at Murano last October. Not only was I introduced to Chef Angela Hartnett but found myself eating one of the tastier meals I've ever had. Gordon Ramsay has developed a reputation for fine eating establishments, but I'd heard rumors that his restaurants weren't doing quite as well as they used to. But like a previous reviewer, based on TripAdvisor reviews, I decided that's where I wanted to celebrate my birthday anyway. Customer service at Murano is impeccable. Jose Garcia, the restaurant manager, was an absolute pleasure. He ensured that I received a signed menu from Chef Hartnett, and I got to see the kitchen. Not a big deal to some, but it was a thrill for me! While the food was excellent, the staff's service certainly made the experience memorable. read more

Honestly if there was a zero star I'd give it. This place was old and dingy, smelled like old cheese, and the ambience was NOTHING like a fine dining restaurant is suppose to be. My husband and I are foodies. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have had some of the BEST fine dining experiences in the world (including the likes of The French Laundry, which has a reputation all its own)! I don't claim to be an expert, but shoot, I've had a damn good amount of experience to speak to this. This fell so short I can't even begin to say how disappointed we were. I would have been better off eating a pizza... please please please don't waste your time here. Go to a pub and have fish and chips or a pie of some sorts. After reading the disparaging review posted on 10/13/2018, we almost cancelled our reservation. Thank goodness we didn't! We are also foodies, and we have also dined in some of the BEST restaurants in Paris, New York, and in the San Francisco Bay Area. We beg to differ with EVERYTHING that the negative reviewer said. Murano is tastefully decorated, well lit, and has no unpleasant smell. The service is impeccable, and the food, drinks, and wine are top notch. We would definitely come back here the next time we are in London. read more

We are a big fan of Angela Hartnett's cooking style so were excited to finally get along to Murano. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere is incredibly intimate and romantic. Ramsey always gets the table settings and seating spot-on, and this is no exception. Soft leather chairs with armrests sit side by side on small tables, each with an elegant flower arrangement. So romantic. Food was exceptional - for £55 the three course menu is excellent value as it includes at least two other courses. Our meal started with champagne, which was accompanied with truffle arancino - delicious little balls of deep-fried rice and cheese. While waiting for entree a selection of parma was brought out, along with some ok bread and olive oil (Planeta olive oil, my favourite). I thought the bread was mediocre. Entrees were very good, oxtail and leek risotto. Only complaint would be that the serving size was too big. Not often you say that. Mains were great. I had rabbit which was presented in many variations. Yum. Hartnett really does a brilliant twist on Anglo-Italian fusion. Between main and dessert a stunning array of sorbets were brought out. I particularly liked the basil-flavoured sorbet. Dessert were excellent. Overall, if you are not loaded, a great place for a special romantic dinner. We came here with high expectations, given the Michelin star and the well regarded chef. The room armed a bit dated, formal and without any character. Service was however at Michelin star level, polite without being stiff, knowledgable and attentive. It was the food that let us down. My starter, artichoke heart with blue cheese croquettes, was bland and rather boring. The croquettes where mostly batter. My husbands quail was better but still not very memorable. The pastas where probably the strongest card- we had rabbit leg tortellini and pasta with shrimp. Tortellini rich and tasty but shrimp pasta again lacking that little extra. But would for sure have it again. Main was pollock, with octopus and chorizo. Again, not memorable, and all was just a bit mushy- nothing really happening in the plate. We didn't even bother with dessert given quality of mains, but got two rather food final petit fours. But we will not be coming back, especially not given the price tag. read more

Murano hits home. It's the perfect place to eat with love. There are no words for how lovely Murano is.

This is a lovely restaurant with beautiful decor and interestingly we noted that whilst there was a buzzing atmosphere with all the other diners, we were able to hear ourselves talk without any trouble. We arrived and were allowed to take our time having a drink and reviewing the menu before we were seated at our table. One of our party was coeliac and they brought her special bread and edited her dessert to ensure it was gluten and wheat free. We were served bread, olive oil, artichokes and a small selection of Italian meats before our meal which was a lovely touch. The portions are not very large however I was able to eat all my main and dessert and feel nicely full. I have a medium appetite however someone with a large appetite would probably want 3 courses. I was actually treated by colleagues and therefore I dont know the total cost however I believe 2 courses was £50 per head with wine, water, service etc on top. I could see the bill becoming quite high however the service was excellent and therefore definately worth it for a special occasion. I would say it would be a great place for a business dinner, either in the restaurant or the private table in the back which looked great. All in all a great time was had by all. read more

It is however in Mayfair & the price reflects that, even with the set lunch it was not inexpensive, so be prepared. Did not see her in the open plan kitchen on either visit. Perhaps that took a little sparkle off, and perhaps I should rob the bank & try dinner. I like restaurants that are perfectly judged. Murano is both intimate and roomy - smallish room, but we didn't feel like we were sitting near anyone else. The waiting staff were as good as I have experienced anywhere - extremely professional, but also very human. We had lunch here, which was elegantly paced. Angela was outside where we arrived, talking with a supplier, in her chef's whites, so nice to know she still has her hand on things. We chose from the a la carte menu, which is ultimately tailorable - although it was hard ruling dishes out... The octopus I had was possibly the best I've had anywhere, and the scallop ceviche my wife had was just perfect. Likewise with the pork belly and John Dory. Service was an odd combination of lack of attention to our needs combined with an uncomfortable pompous attitude. Waited forever for our wine and for requested additional beverages. Shorted us a menu after and then acted as if it was our fault for inextricable reasons. Server couldn't explain the menu after three requests to any of our understandings. Food was miniature when it did arrive. Dishes were self conscious and poorly paired. Major disappointment. Go next door to Tamarind.
