We called Jim to have him paint a mural on our back fence wall of a desert setting that matches the backdrop of our yard. He quoted us an hourly price, which we expected it to be pricey. He said he doesn't do detail work, but he knows of a woman who would do detailed work. He was told that we wanted the wall to blend in with the background as if there was no wall. This meant trees, bushes and maybe some rocks. He came out one day and began working, but during the same time, we had our pool and landscaping company there also. They began using power tools which caused the fuse to blow while Jim was spray painting our wall. He was obviously upset and stated that since others are using the power, that he was going to leave, so he abruptly shut it down and stated he would return on Saturday morning, but it was obviously he had an attitude about it. A couple of days later, he returned and stayed for a little over two house, painting the back wall tan and blotting it with green to cause a camouflage illusion. Once he was done, we were bewildered as to if he was going to paint bushes, trees and rocks on the mural. He stated, "NO!"..... I then told him we were expecting more to the mural so it would look like the background beyond the fence. He then stated in an angry tone, "I stay for 30 mins minutes more!" At this point, his attitude was belligerent and we chose to end his services at that point. We would be better suited hiring someone else to finish the job the way we wanted it. He then told us we owed $500, so we paid him. At this point, we were upset and confused about his attitude. As he left, he then stated, I can add more detail if you want, it would be $100 an hour for about 7 hours. I told him thanks for coming out as we will seek other options. I would like to think that there was a misunderstanding about what we wanted, but his response to more detail was less than desirable. So his level of service warranted 1-star. read more
