The plates are super fresh, taste incredible, and there's a huge range of varieties to choose from. The staff were friendly, efficient, and attentive, filling our water glasses a couple of times while we were there and calculating our bills quickly at the end of our meals. Izakaya literally means sit down sake shop but these days it's a Japanese Tavern - where one can drink with a menu of small dishes. We were immediately welcomed with warm service which continued throughout our experience. They have a selection of sashimi, Sushi rolls, Kushi Skewers, tempura, Okonomiyaki (japanese savoury pancake), hot a la carte,  cold a la carte  aswell as a range of beverages including japanese alcoholic beverages. We decided to try the: 1. Mouth watering Miso Glazed Seared Huon Tasmanian Salmon rolls, with avocado & cucumber. ($13.90) 2. Deep fried crunchy Soft shell crab in potato flour served with Yuzu citrus mayo. ($16.50) Okay, if there was 1 dish to try if you went to this place that would take you to heaven & back, it would have to be the Seared Salmon rolls. Holy cow these were so damn good! The flavour & the addition of the fried shallots on top was UNREAL! Super fresh also! We love softshell crab, & wow was this husband & wife of soft shell crab, & citrus mayo the perfect marriage! We decided to also order the Crispy Karaage chicken. ($10) This was so tasty, that we could've ordered a second round! The Green tea we ordered was beautiful & warmed us up from the cold. Overall, we really enjoyed all of our food.  The owners also own 2 other places called "Sushi point" at Victoria point & Cleveland, & had an opportunity to open Izakaya which can seat about 40-50 people. There's enough choice in the menu that suits everyone's budgets.They are fully licensed so you can also come in to enjoy some Sake, Japanese Whiskey or some Australian wines. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the dishes that we ordered. We found the Eggplant Dengkaku very oily and the meat in our Teriyaki Wagyu Beef and Kimchee pork had an odd tenderised texture and was coated in a kind of batter and deep fried. The only dish that we enjoyed and could recommend was the Agedashi Tofu. It's such a shame because the staff were really nice and the service was very quick and efficient, but the food we ordered was just not up to scratch. We did see some other diners order sashimi which looked really terrific.

There's some very large overhead air conditioners inside and it can get a little cold, so make sure you have a jacket The a la carte section outside is really pretty and looks over a small japanese garden. Food is always fresh, staff are very helpful. They really look after you if you need gluten free meals and will even bring special gluten free soy sauce.

Last night I waited with my very impatient kids for 20 minutes before a booth was available. It was definitely worth the wait though! The little train comes chugging past pulling behind it plate after plate of delicious fresh sushi. The Golden pieces of Karaage chicken, steaming gyoza's and glistening plates of sashimi will have you salivating in no time. I love the salmon ship - moist sushi rice surrounded by a piece of light pink salmon and topped with salmon roe - so divine. I love to pop the roe between my tongue and the roof of my mouth!! Prices are very reasonable, plates start from $3.50 and I think the most expensive is $8. Make sure you order some Miso soup - it is packed full of juicy kombu and little pieces of fresh tofu. There are so many yummy desserts to choose from too. My kids love the tri-coloured jelly cups and I never leave without spoiling myself with a bowl of decadent chocolate mousse - Yummy!

The tuna and avocado had soooo much flavour; the tuna wasn't dry at all. The chicken wasn't dry as well; it was so soft. The smoked salmon had so much flavour. The only thing I didn't like was that it had a bit too much cream cheese. The rolls are about $2.80 each, which is reasonably priced. They're pretty big rolls. If you're in the city, definitely check this place out!
