SF Muni Route 28 Bus Delay -- Saturday, October 10, 2026…read more
I arrived at 19th Avenue & Winston, bus stop #13402, at 6:44pm to catch the Route 28 bus toward Fisherman's Wharf.
The bus stop screen initially showed the next buses arriving in 17 and 54 minutes. At 7:05pm, the estimated arrival times suddenly changed to 30 and 33 minutes.
Finally, at 7:18pm, Route 28, Vehicle #8930, arrived. I waited a total of 34 MINUTES for the bus on a Saturday night.
What was even more confusing was that when the bus arrived at 7:18pm, the screen was still showing the next buses arriving in 15 and 17 minutes. Why didn't the displayed arrival times match the actual bus arrival? Is Muni's real-time tracking system not updating properly, or are there delays in tracking the buses? Passengers need accurate arrival information to plan their trips.
While waiting, I noticed two Route 29 buses go by. Some people who were waiting for Route 28 started running toward the Route 29 bus stop, presumably because Route 28 was taking so long to arrive. I also saw a few people apparently getting picked up by what looked like Uber or Lyft vehicles at the same bus stop.
According to SFMTA's published schedule:
* **Weekdays:**Every 12 minutes during the morning, midday, and evening; every 20 minutes late at night.
* **Weekends:**Every 15 minutes during the morning, midday, and evening; every 20 minutes late at night.
However, I waited 34 minutes for Route 28 on a Saturday evening. The changing arrival estimates made it even harder to know when the bus would actually arrive.
This has become a familiar pattern with Route 28 on weekends:infrequent service, long delays, changing arrival times, and buses bunching together instead of arriving at regular intervals.
Why do passengers have to wait so long for a bus while the arrival times keep changing? I hope Muni will review the weekend schedule, bus spacing, dispatching, and real-time arrival information to find out why these problems continue.
**Summary:**I'm posting this review on Yelp to keep track of how many times Route 28 is delayed and document my experiences. I'm also submitting a Muni feedback complaint about the ongoing problems with infrequent Route 28 service and weekend delays.
Hopefully, people reading this review will learn how to submit a Muni complaint, too. While waiting for the bus, I often hear passengers complaining to each other about the delays. I understand their frustration, but just complaining to each other won't make the bus arrive on time. Reporting these problems directly to Muni gives the agency feedback about what riders are experiencing.
You can submit feedback online through the official SFMTA/Muni feedback form, or call 311 to report bus delays.
Passengers deserve accurate arrival information and dependable bus service, especially on weekends.
