I prefer to use this as a bus station rather than take the BART from here. The trouble with BART is that it can be quite unreliable. If a train is out of service, that delays all of the trains in that direction quite often because there is only one tube under the Bay. You can easily end up stranded for a long time. For that reason, I have decided that the bus is my better option to get to work. It is also cheaper. However, this BART stop is pretty good as stops go. They could do a better job of cleaning it, but it isn't terrible. They do have parking available if you need it. The escalators usually work well. read more

Parking is free on the weekend. You can park in the carpool area on the weekend only. Parking M-F is $3, please look at the map and park in the designated area. You have to enter inside the station, no machine outside station to pay for parking, cash only. There is a change machine outside the station. BART offers no refund. Once you enter the station and forget something in the car or need change for parking, you need to swip out and pay again to enter. So make sure you have everything before you enter the paid area. Everything you heard about BART is true. The customer service isn't great. You have crazy people walking around talking to themselves. I would leave the Porsche at home and drive the beater. The trains are outdated and very old. It reminds me of a beater car. It's embarrassing BART still running these trains. The train makes alot of noise on the rail. Let me be your tour guide to Pacifica without taking a car! You see there is a little known secret about this station that some don't know. Maybe many. This station is your ticket to getting there without a car. The easy way. Simply travel to Daly City Bart and then get off the train, look for a bus in the bus bay that says Linda Mar Park and Ride. This is a Sam Trans Bus. Once you board this bus, it will take you to Linda Mar Shopping Center. There you will get off the bus and you will see a shopping center mostly with places to eat, etc. But the beach is very much walkable from here! Just walk down Linda Mar Road from the bus stop (Walk down to the Chevron Station) and use the 3 way cross walk to see the beach. And if you're hungry while taking in all the beauty of the coast a Taco bell is a small distance walk from there. It's just not all about eating tacos its eating them with a view! It's actually a Cantina. Not your regular Taco Bell that you dine in at. Much different format! Very touristy too. So how much does it take to get there? It depends on where you live. I looked at the fare from Hayward to Pacifica and it appeared it was a little over 8 bucks one way to get there, and back. You may pay more or less depending on which BART you board at to get to Daly City. If you're looking for that getaway for the day without having to spend a huge amount of money for a hotel for yourself or the family this little excursion just might be the one you are looking for! read more

This has become our Bart station when going up to the city after work or on the weekends. Why you might ask? Millbrae is closer to us. The answer is Daly City offers a ton more trains vs. Millbrae station. I don't understand why? But they do. My husband and I are about convenience and this station offers it with time. There are functional bathrooms, but not the best kept. Um...outside the station it smells like Pee-pee, and I even saw a guy spraying the side of the building as we were leaving the parking lot. So! This station is as old as me, and its starting to show. Right now, they are retrofitting this station and it's creating gridlock during rush hour in the morning. They made a two lane into a single lane going towards the drop off area and parking lot, and it's havoc in the morning. Being an intelligent human being that I am, we easily bypass this mess by going inside the upper parking lot and getting dropped off there. Or...make a right on Los Olivos and it's a short walk to the station. Of course, this only works if you're getting dropped off; good luck if you're trying to park. They've also reconfigured the entrance and exit here so many times during the years that it became a clusterf*ck. And depending on what shift you're working, the Station Agents working in the mornings are a lot nicer compared to the ones working on Swing. However many negative things I have to say, there's also a lot of positives. It's not a transfer station but I like that this station gets a lot of flow coming and going to The City (noticed that it's capitalized....and should be) and towards Millbrae and SFO. So if you miss a train, chances are there's another one behind in a few minutes. Notice to all drivers: The stop sign is NOT a drop-off zone. There are plenty of cars behind you that would like to ram your stupid arses if you pull that trick. Especially if this Bull is behind you, you're gonna get some lip from me...and maybe even a Horn. 3 1/2 stars for now until they are done with the retrofit. read more

I think it's a job requirement to be grumpy and unhelpful in order to work here. Some things to note if you're riding the BART for the first time: 1) Visit https://www.clippercard.com/ClipperWeb/map.do to see where you can purchase a Clipper card. I got mine at Walgreens for $3. I use this because it's convenient for me as a frequent rider. You can also buy tickets with any amount you need. If you buy high value tickets, you can get a discount of a few dollars. 2) The $76 monthly Muni/Bart pass only applies between Balboa Park and Embarcadero. I learned this the hard way. 3) The parking station is inside the station so after you park, remember what your parking space number is and enter it in the machine in front of you right when you enter. The $2.50 daily parking fee can be paid by cash or by Clipper if you've registered your card with EZRider and have a hangtag. Parking only needs to be paid Monday through Friday from 4 AM to 3 PM but the machines will accept your money at any time. This is the only station that has a lot and and a large parking garage. I tried looking for parking at Balboa after I found out that my monthly pass didn't apply and it was impossible. Most of the spots in the lot are reserved until 10 am but I haven't had trouble finding parking in the garage. To get to the garage, just take a left when you get out of the parking lot and take another left and a right into the garage. There's plenty of spillover parking in the lot to the right of the garage as well. Also, make sure to pay attention to what stop you need to get off at. You can plan your trip at http://www.bart.gov. The rails are really screechy too so bring headphones and something to play music to make your ride more enjoyable. read more

Old dirty station, parking lot stairways smell like urine, broken glass in the parking lot from break-ins. Sometimes there are two northbound trains at the station simultaneously. It would be so practical if there was a way to tell which train is departing first. They do have signs with lights that indicate which train is leaving first, but they don't work. read more

Definitely one of the better/safer BART stations that I have been on. If you are going to the city, this is the perfect station to go to because the trains run so frequently (especially on weekdays). Parking: There is an abundance of parking spots but of course most of them in the structure require you to reserve the spot early in the year (and it may take a while for you to get approved) but there are also a few spots in the back area where is it open to all. Cool thing about this station is that they also have a carpool parking area upstairs where you get your own lot if you carpool with someone else. Again, you still need to reserve it early in the year are there are BART security/parking ticket people occasionally walking around to check if you are REALLY carpooling with another person. Note, you need two addresses to sign up for this. Safety: I ride BART to and from work (in San Francisco) everyday (if I don't decide to Uber home) and it's been pretty safe for me this far. I don't own a car so I rely on public transportation a lot. After taking BART to Daly City, I take a bus that takes me home. Sometimes if I don't time it correctly, I have to wait at the station but I've always felt quite safe. With my job, working late sometimes and BARTing/busing late at night makes me a little more vigilant but there are a lot of late night commuters which makes me feel safer. Efficiency: This station is great because near the parking structure, there is an area for Uber/Lyft pick up and drop off. It doesn't cause any traffic congestion and it just works out well. The other side of the station is for busses and there is also an underground walkway for people to get to the other side of the station. Overall, very well built structure and I honestly do grateful for this station otherwise I wouldn't know how else to get to work! read more

BART is in the process of installing new seats and carpetless floors to their current fleet of train cars. Okay, I'm getting too focused on the BART Trains so now returning to the main point. As a BART passenger, I disliked using the restrooms at this station because the floors are extremely dirty and it is smelly. There is always a swarm of flies flying around the restroom area. It would be very nice if BART can have janitors come in to clean the restrooms on a daily basis. Other than that, there are the ticket machines and a change dispenser with a hot dog stand in the center. This hot dog stand here at Daly City BART Station reminds me of the hot dog stand I consistently see when I am at Balboa Park BART Station. By the way, phillip w. has pointed out there is this one guy here in the afternoon asking other passengers for money for the bus - which is extremely annoying. I see him on certain afternoons as well, but I give him the disapproval glare. There are times when I get up to the platform on the stairs or escalator, one train leaves but the good thing is the second train at platform 1 or 2 which is way better than MUNI when we as passengers come to comparing this in terms of reliability and on time performance. At Daly City BART Station, there are plenty of parking spots that is a parking garage and two parking lots designated exclusively for BART passengers. There is a shuttle stop for the San Francisco State University shuttle. Lastly, there are plenty of stops for MUNI and SamTrans. I was heading down to the Peninsula and my ride lives in Daly City. Since I was coming from work in downtown SF, he suggested I take BART to the Daly City station. I left work a little after 5:30pm on Friday, August 11th and arrived at this station a little before 6pm. From Powell Street station to Daly City station, it's 6 stops and about 15 minutes. For $3.25, that's not too bad considering by car, it would probably take about 30 mins (if not longer) and a lot of pent up road rage. I'll take the short BART ride over that any day. I didn't explore the station much, but I was told to go to the pick up area to the right of the exit which was pretty easy to find. Was picked up shortly after I stepped out of the station. There's obviously things that can be improved regarding BART, but I'm glad it exists. Makes is pretty easy to get to certain destinations. read more

As far as public transportation goes, the Bay Areas is lacking compared to other cities. Not only are there few lines and stops, but Bart in general is dirty. This station though is kept pretty clean. I don't see trash on the ground and unlike the downtown SF stations there's no drug paraphernalia out in the open. Most trains stop here (or if you're lucky will start here) which makes it very convenient for us Daly City folks. If you don't have a parking permit, arrive very early in the morning to snag a spot. Otherwise don't drive here because you will be wasting a lot of time circling around looking for a spot. read more

Woo! This BART station rocks! Not the BART, but the station... I am the most disorganized and forgetful person up to date. Seriously, I am probably closer to getting Alzeimers than a sixty-five year old woman.. Terrible. But anyway, I have this ridiculous habit of forgetting important things at home: my phone, the first page of my essay, books, keys, identification cards, and so on. Lucky for me, the direct Fremont train always arrives within three minutes of my being here. Seriously! And when I'm running late to the Financial District? Always a train waiting for me (: Soooo much more reliable than stupid MUNI, which takes half an hour to go down Market Street (extra fifteen minutes if it's inspector day). Why else? Often times at night, there will be two love birds on platform 1, literally! They sit together and shake their heads below the roofing. Sometimes they'll spin in place or stare at you. There was this time when I accidently dropped a water bottle, making a stentorian sound. I quickly picked up the bottle to see the ridiculously drunk man across from me, giving me a thumbs up. I chuckled. He almost fell over the yellow line onto the rails... I have seen a number of people with balloons or balloon hats. One guy had a balloon hat made into a Spongebob and little Miffy balloons hanging on his laptop bag! I saw a clown here once... Scariest day ever. Also, lots of hipsters! I got to practice the art of identifying hipsters. Along with the cabs and free shuttle service (along with location convenience), I'd say Daly City BART is rather deserving of five stars! read more

This BART station is clean and there's parking! However, parking is scarce on weekday mornings...so be prepared to wake up earlier to get a spot...in over over flow. Horrible. Parking is a nightmare at this station for commuters. The station refuses to make more parking spaces available for people, unless you pay more for "Reserved Parking." They take advantage of the fact that there are a lot more people trying to get into work in the morning than there are spaces available. Drive in here in the morning and you find hundreds of "Reserved Parking" spaces open, which you must pay extra for. Commuting here every day can be frustrating and infuriating, just to find a simple place to park your car. Why don't they create more parking spots for people?? This Bart station itself is old and dated, and needs a major make over. However, people don't take Bart because of how it looks. That's how it should be for dating! Besides, in my opinion, it's the trains themselves that need to be completely redone. The seats that hold germs, odor, grime, sweat, urine, etc. are absolutely disgusting. The Daly City Bart station serves commuters from all over. Muni, shuttle buses (Seton, SF State), SamTrans, and of course Bart all run from this station. It's conveniently located, but may be hard to find for people who are unfamiliar with the area. Daly City is a major line on Bart, so if you need to get to Pittsburgh or Fremont (without stopping at another station to switch trains), this is the best place to be if you're coming from the Peninsula. Because it's a popular and heavily visited station, parking is horrendous. Aside from that, DC Bart serves it's purpose. read more

I really hate it when 2 trains arrive within 2 minutes of each other. Which is leaving first? The sign that's suppose to tell you doesn't work. I tend to choose the wrong train. What makes it worse is when the doors shut and I can't get out to take the other train. I sit and watch as the other train leaves. This makes me mad, but I'm usually over it within minutes. What prompted me to write this negative review was the rude answer I received from a BART operator: I asked a BART operator (March 5, 2:31pm Pleasanton train to be exact) if her train was leaving first and she just looked at me and said "I don't know. Check the schedule." WTF...really? You're just sitting there doing nothing waiting to leave. Don't act like you don't know what time your train is to depart. read more

Whenever I plan on going to Downtown San Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf (or any part in SF that has such limited parking), I almost always park here at Daly City BART station and take BART to those destinations. Not the cleanest station in the whole system, but at least it's not as difficult to find parking compared to other BART stations. I hadn't rode BART in years and yesterday my friend and I went to see a play and needed to get off at Civic Center. I couldn't believe the wait time on weekends and how they have no one working in the BART booths at Colma. Suppose someone needs help with something? Ridiculous. Going back was worse. It took 15 minutes for train to arrive and while waiting g there were two people smoking by platform. Heck where is the BART police when you need one. I've learned not to anticipate or expect cleanliness at this or any Bart station, but this one is the closest to me so whatever. I usually park here everyday to go to work and have no problems so far (don't get me started on the parking prices tho). Come early if you want a parking spot, especially if you don't have reserved parking. The regular parking spots fill up around 8:00am, sometimes earlier. This was the BART I took daily when I was going to SFSU. It is one of the busy stations since people are getting off for school. There are tons of buses, so look for yours. Sometimes is frustration waiting for the right bus when they change their signage.
