Let me start with the food - it was absolutely delicious. Every plate had so much flavorful and was beautifully plated. My favorite dish was definitely the swordfish but truly everything was amazing. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about any of the plates...maybe just that I wish the portions were bigger because I wanted more of everything hahaha Service - unfortunately this is where I had to tick some points off. I believe at one point we waited over an hour for our last two courses, while all around us people were getting their food. We had to remind the waitress 3 different times for the rest of our food and never once got an apology or reassurance that the food was coming soon. I understand stuff happens but for the price we paid I would expect better service. The ambiance - The place is gorgeously decorated and really sets the mood for a fun and nice dinner. read more

EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE! Too many good restaurants in Chamonix to eat here. We made a reservation a month in advance and had confirmed it day of. We were 13 minutes late to our reservation and they had already given our table away. They had called us 4 minutes prior and we hadn't seen it as we were on our way over. Rather than immediately apologize and explain the situation when we listed our names for our reservation they simply said "well we HAD a reservation under that name at this time," and we had to ask further questions to understand the issue at hand. I understand we were late, but are you kidding me? This is France, everyone runs late. We were under a 15 minute window and had confirmed the reservation that day! PLUS, on their website, it says they allow for a 15 minute grace period. I've never had this happen before, and would have been much more sympathetic if they had been kind and handled the problem apologetically (and stuck to the 15 minute window rule). Instead, they acted like it was insane we could possibly show up for our reservation if we were late at all. I've worked in the service industry waiting tables, and I know better than to treat a customer like that. We handled it politely, but I saved my anger for this review. Felt unbelievable. Head to Satsuki instead for some yummy Japanese and a much better environment! read more

Ive never left a review for a restaurant before, but Munchies deserves a good one. For starters you would need to spend an entire afternoon with Willie Nelson to get high enough to even remotely enjoy the food. Stale chips with spicy mayo is the perfect stoner food to hold off your munchies before they bring the overpriced underwhelming food to the table. And be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes between plates. It may be wise to bring your own munchies actually and just sit outside to people watch. ...Worst food in Cham. Hands down. read more

Went there late on a Tuesday night and we both had the filet de boeuf (came with fries, a salad and two kinds of sauces - one a very tasty spicy bernaise). Absolutely fantastic! I am a beef lover and love to go to upscale steakhouses. The filet I had there was the best in a long time. Very good beef perfectly cooked and the overall package with the sauces and sides was just perfect. Loved the fusion touch with the spicy bernaise. Ok, I'll start off by saying all the places in Chanomix are amazing. Some random coffee shop around the corner had beef tartar on the menu and it was the best beef tartar I ever had... That is until we went to Munchie. It was our last night in Chamoix and this place was highly recommended to us. We got 6 different appetizers, including all sorts of sushi and wontons and raw meats... everything was great. We all got different entrees and shared them, each one was better than the next. The service was spot on and even put up with our 'Murikan attitude. Highly recommended restaurant for when you're in Chamonix. read more

Known for being the most popular restaurant in the village, Munchie is a trendy place with amazing food, drinks, and a great mix of people. You will definitely run into someone you would like to talk to, and the menu combines traditional french with scandinavian cooking, spiced with asian influences. I was first here on New Years eve for drinks later in the night. It was so fun! But crowded. I feel like everyone who was out on new years were fighting to order a drink. I came back with my friend and her family for dinner on New Years Day. The food definitely lived up to my expectations derived from recommendations from my friend's family who are regulars. I had the Duck Teriyaki, and it melted in my mouth. I have never experience such slow service tough. But figured, who is not slow on New Years Day after all... I visited Munchie whilst on holiday in Chamonix in February 2011. When it was mentioned at the table, as a suggestion of where to go when the chef at the chalet had his night off I was a little put off by the name. It sounds a little like a fast food restaurant and that wasn't what I wanted. On the recommendation of two guests a group of us decided to give it a go. Even though they told me the food was of Asian influence I expected a naff decor and the like. I was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is quite intimate and had quite modern decor. Lots of fairy light adorned the place and those eating in there appeared to be quite well dressed and it had an upmarket feel. My only worry was the large dog lazing by the bar. I'm an animal lover but I don't agree with pets in restaurants. The menu had just the right amount of food, so often the munu at these kind of places is so big it takes an hour to chose and you always end up with food envy. Everything appealed and was reasonably priced although if I had been eating out every night I may have gone for a cheaper option. Two of the group opted for Sushi to start and my friend and I went for the Tom Yum soup. each one of was very pleased and finished everything in front of us. We did wait rather a long time to be served but it was well worth the wait. I then opted for the Duck Teriyaki and my fellow diners had a selection of beef and chicken dishes. Everyone agreed they had food envy when mine arrived and it was possibly one of the nicest duck dishes I had ever eaten. It melted in the mouth and was oozing with flavour. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, although service was a tad slow. We were in there for a number of hours but we weren't in a rush so we just sat back, chatted, enjoyed the wine and patted the dog! read more

Ambiance : trendy decor and pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant has two floors with different rooms for sitting . I recommend the 2nd floor, as the smell from the kitchen is very strong upon entering (not everyone wants to smell like fried fish). Food: sad disappointment, despite all of the raving reviews. I had two sashimi style dishes - unique combinations, but the fish quality wasn't there. The cooked small dishes consisted of baby squid - too breaded , felt like I was presented with a pile of greasy panko crumbs, the wontons with chicken pate - excellent smoky miso sauce, but the wontons felt too dry and too heavy on the dough , beef spring rolls - tasted like generic out of the freezer Chinese meal . Service : very busy restaurant. Everyone seems to work hard and care , but so many unacceptable mistakes we're made . The order was mixed up with another table with a comment that the other table didn't touch it . The wine was served in a wet glass and the tables were wiped with strong bleach cleaner . Overall - 3 star restaurant for being reasonably priced and trying to create something entirely different combining Asian and french cuisines . read more

Little did I know, but in the Savoyard French dialect, "Munchie" translates to "delicious, share plate cuisine." Munchie was recommended to my group by our local guides numerous times, and after a few days of trying to get a reservation, we finally got in. Each plate is meant for sharing, and since all the food was stupendous, I don't have a particular recommendation. Try as much as your group's stomachs can handle. read more

Repeatedly the best of the best in Chamonix. French/Asian fusion of the highest quality. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Duck is five star, their specials are always innovative and a great presentation. If this restaurant was in San Francisco it would be the hottest place in town. You will not be disappointed. We really enjoyed our meal at Munchie. The variety was good. I really loved my seafood curry. I also had the salmon sashimi and the seabass carpaccio. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We had three vegans dining with us and they had interesting choices on the menu too. A great cabbage dish and some lovely spring rolls. read more

Asian fusion, done pretty well. Unusual to go for Asian fusion at a ski resort, but if you're in need of a break from meat, cheese and potatoes, this will suit you fine. Generally classy, nice setting. Staff all speak English like everywhere else. Food is good, with interesting takes on French classics, likens creative use of fois gras. Fish is fresh, but you are far from an ocean... Winner might have been they're baby squid. All in all would recommend if you need a change of pace from Classic Savoyard dishes. read more

Best food in terms of quality and variety in the valley. Eclectic menu, changing year by year, with some classic offers remaining, like the roasted duck breast, or the superbe steak. Asian fusion with a sufficient variety in vegetarian meals. The service is in general efficient and friendly, the only drawback is that not all personnel speaks French. read more
