This place is the definition of a dive bar. My friends and I typically like dive bars and that has nothing to do with the rating of this place. The bar isn't huge but it does have a dart board and pool table and a deck outside (beer garden). They offer 'bar food' and pizza.
Normally, I'd have no complaints. The beer selection isn't great and the bar isn't overly nice but it's fine for what it is. The reason I want to give it the lowest rating is for ONE SIGNFICANT REASON: the owner. Lee Boswell.
Lee is an awful person. He's loud, bigoted, and knows NOTHING about how to run a business. He bartends and doesn't know how to make a drink. He cannot tell the difference between an IPA and a stout. He doesn't like people outside of his own race. He doesn't like people with different sexual orientations. He doesn't really like people at all. He doesn't pay attention to patrons at the bar. He is a horrible, horrible man.
Let's talk specifics: He was caught filling a Grey Goose bottle with well vodka.
He made terrible gay comments in front of about 8 patrons.
He set up the dart board right next to the front door and has witnessed his customers being hit in the face with darts.
He's physically pushed patrons.
He's given my friend a beer when she ordered a cider and tried to convince her it was the same thing.
He doesn't let you put your tip on your credit card. You HAVE to tip in cash. If you don't have cash, the bartenders don't get tipped.
The sad thing is I don't mind going there when the other bartenders are there.
There's a very sweet lady that has been there for years with brunette hair and she might be the nicest person I've ever met. Sadly, I avoid Mulligan's because of Lee. He's trying very hard to kill his own business. Who pours well vodka in a Grey Goose bottle? Lee does.
The only reason I'm giving this place two stars are the other bartenders. Those poor ladies work extremely hard and are very nice and don't deserve to have the place they work to support go under because the owner is a racist idiot. read more
