It was quite loud so we had to raise our voices to speak with others at our table. The food was decent; however, the service was extremely slow. At times we thought they forgot about us because we were the only ones upstairs. The waitress apologized and explained that was the kitchen was back up heavily so we've been sitting for an extremely long time between our appetizers and our mains. In total, we've been sitting for about 2.5 hours. I may come back here on a less busy time to avoid the loud music and the long wait times.

As there was limited space it was difficult to find a position where it would not get hit. We enjoyed the starter and began eating our mains, everything seemed fine until I 'shifted' my noodles and found a strand of hair in the Pad Thai! That was enough to put me off the rest of my uneaten plate. Unfortunate. Yes. At least the servers were kind and accommodating. Next time if/whenever we're back in Port Dover we'll eat at some other place..

As residents of Port Dover, we have been to David's several times over past years. We have,…read morehowever, been hearing that the food and service have deteriorated over the past couple of years. We decided to go in spite of the negative reviews we had been hearing. I can sum up our experience in four words: Not worth the money My beef tenderloin, though cooked to my liking, was gristly, not something I would expect at $72. However, what irked us most is the petty nickeling and dimeing. You have to pay for bread ($19). In most upscale restaurants like the Olde Schoolhouse in Brantford, bread is complimentary. Secondly, main courses come with only ONE side. if you want potato AND a vegetable you pay an extra $5. For me, the final straw came when I was asked if I wanted mushrooms with my beef. There was no mention by the waitperson of an extra cost. I assumed mushrooms came as an option on the plate, like gravy. No, an additional $12 was added to the bill. We have learned our lesson. The prices at David's are frankly extortionist which the beautiful views of the lake do not ameliorate. In future, if we want an upscale dining experience, we are going to the Olde Schoolhouse in Brantford which provides much better value for money.

My friend and I decided to have a nice dinner at Delmar last night and it was an excellent choice!…read more:) The restaurant closes at 8pm and we arrived at 7:30pm, but no one rushed us and the food came out really quick! My friend got one of their sandwiches and I got the fish and chips. The fish was lightly battered, with just the right amount of crispiness! The fish also had a ... "fish" tasty to it :P Which some people hate, but I'm fine with because it is fish after all, it'd be awkward if it tasted like mushrooms or something :P The fries were also amazing, and I love how they include a free salad for the fish and chips! Also, both the fish and fries were not greasy which was a big and wonderful surprise, because after a big meal like that, I didn't even feel guilty! :) Delmar is quite large, and it is very clean and tidy. It opened in the 1950s and although it has a nice 50s vibe, it doesn't feel "old". The one and only reason why I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their menu. They offer all-day-breakfast which is nice, and a regular lunch/dinner menu. Their menu is not "small" but limited. For example, they offer 10+ types of sandwiches, but no hot dogs. They offer 7-8 types of omelettes but no skillets. They offer lots of varieties for 1 item, but they're not diverse when it comes to other classic diner and breakfast foods. They also have a small dessert and beverage menu. Overall though, I enjoyed my visit very much and my friend even gives this place a 5/5! So check out Delmar if you're driving by :)
