We had been going to another nearby orchard for apple picking, but the shine wore off that and Weston Red Barn Farm is our new pick. It's a great little escape from Kansas City that's under an hour drive from downtown itself. They have: -Tons of pumpkins -A maze -Goats, chickens, horses, pigs, and other animals -Cider slushies, candies, and fall goodies While we most recently visited on a Monday (kids were off school), the weekends are where it's at here. They have more food options, pony rides, and other fun stuff for the kids. It's understandably quieter during the week. Oh and let's not forget the overall setting: bucolic, relaxing, and pretty beautiful for Missouri countryside is I may say so myself. I totally see why people get married here.

Not sure if shes used to working with kids so young. I had a child who was under 2 next to me looking for her mom so I took her to her mom and the guide snapped at me and said "I don't want to have to talk over you", in a very rude tone. She also snapped at a 3 year old girl who was just trying to ask a question while she was talking about the bumble bees. Just the way she acted made the whole experience seem very hostile. The prices seemed reasonable, but for how our group was treated we will go out of our way to go to a new pumpkin patch. If you go to this place maybe skip the tours and just roam the place on your own.

This farm is HUGE and was packed with families from all over the area but never felt crowded. The Jacks in the Night lighted trail had to be the highlight of it all. It's a separate purchase from general admission. There were several Disney salutes and it was all super kid friendly. They have an area with grills where you can bring your own food and cook, which is a nice option! Overall, it was a cute fall outing, but I personally think it's a little overhyped. Jalapeño Honey: very spicy! Sweet and spicy honey can go with anything! From drizzling it over baked salmon at the last minutes of cooking to putting it on top of biscuits! Habanero honey: definitely more for people that can't take the heat, but just want a tid bit to satisfy their spicy craving! I will also definitely come back to try out their essential oil soap's because they smell so good and some of them actually even have raw honey in them. The owner and his wife own a farm and I love love love love that all their products are 100% natural. Like way, way too busy to enjoy yourself. Okay, with it being October we figured it would be busy. We were part of field trip group and were given a bag to take a pumpkin home. We were told the pumpkin had to fit inside the bag. As we were leaving, the official "exit", which is a large building, was wall to wall people so much so that we could not even enter the building. We decided to leave through the area next to it which is also the entrance, but there was no one there so we were able to walk through. All of a sudden an employee starts waving at us that she can not let us leave with our pumpkins. I stated that we had already paid through our field trip and the pumpkins my kids chose all fit in their bags. I also said it was not physically possible to exit through the Harvest Barn as it was too full of people. The employee then said that at least two of our pumpkins were too big. I reminded her that all we were told was that they need to fit inside the bag. I ended up dumping my pumpkins at the entrance and walking away. I talked to other members of our field trip and they were confused as they said they never had to weigh their pumpkins. I called to talk about our experience and got the same lady we dealt with as we were leaving. I told her I wanted to talk to someone else. The second employee I spoke to was sweet and apologetic and acknowledged that the exit was incredibly busy. All in all, be prepared for huge crowds, and if you're going with a group, be clear about the rules/procedures for field trips.
