MUJI is amazing. It's probably part of the reason I couldn't save any money when I lived in Japan.
Well-made products in a very modern Zen style that the Japanese pull off so well. I am always tempted to fill up my closet with MUJI wear, but then I remember that I have an ample bosom and love bright colors. Not the best combination for MUJI's linear design. I'll stick to Uniqlo for my Japanese clothes, but as far as accessories, homewares, furniture, stationery, and cosmetics go: TAKE ALL MY MONEY!
The Emporium shop is a nice introduction to the MUJI lifestyle brand. I have MUJI products in my house that I bought overseas 5 or 6 years ago and it has all held up really well. I love their stationey because it's all a blank canvas to decorate how you will: stamp it, put stickers all over it, or doodle with one of their handy writing utensils. It's up to you. You can even decorate a canvas bag or notebook before you leave the store. The cosmetics are simple and clean with no crazy claims or flashy labels. Hella zen. They work and that's what you want.
If I could, I would totally deck out my house in comfy MUJI linens and homewares. It's such simple luxury that isn't actually ridiculously expensive. I actually wouldn't mind if my house looked like a MUJI catalog, it's a stark contrast to the Laura Ashley shop next door.
They have a great ethos and a simple concept. MUJI is great. read more
