"Occasional" furniture .....I think is furniture you don't use ALL the time......but more than NONE of the time...........making its use ......occasional. Anyway they stock some cute occasional furniture, good for adding a little retro love to a room. I have found their pricing to be lower than that of the larger vintage traders which makes the pieces more accessible for a younger market. There are the larger/$$ pieces of furniture but also a selection of smaller, affordable bric a brac straight from the kitchens and lounge rooms of the 60's. Its new and its on the 112 tram, worth a visit.

About 60% of the store is dedicated to furniture, and though I don't buy or know much about furniture, it all looks to be in good quality and beautifully attractive. Lots of wood and vintage glasswork and tapestry. Also lots of art deco era beauties, and ornately carved wood pieces. The book, record and magazine section is large, with lots of antique books and a large array of magazines, especially national geographies, which is great for teachers and other art-scounger enthusiasts. Though the clothing section is on the small side, there are always decent finds and most of the items are in pristine condition. My absolute favourite favourite bit, though, is the jewelry selection. Never before in an op-shop have I seen such good quality vintage pieces. Beautiful ornate necklaces, screw-on earrings (amazing!), delicate rings. The works. If you need a bonus, the staff are also gems. Last time I was there one of the women helped hold my hair back while I tried on necklaces. Talk about service!

They're also selling a grand piano at the moment, so it's really got something for everybody. The clothing selection is nothing to write home about, so I definitely wouldn't make a trip there if you're only after clothes, but if you're interested in household stuff, check it out for sure!

Not having been in the position to buy custom-made picture frames before, I was quite clueless about what I wanted or even what would suit the works best. This was no problem though as the staff member who helped me was patient and showed me my options, made wonderful suggestions, and tried to show me as much possible, how the artworks would look in various frames. It took about two weeks for the frames to be made and they cost a pretty penny, but they really enhance each artwork and I still love looking at them hung up in my house so I'm sure it was money well spent. I will definitely go back to the Picture Box when I'm next flush enough to do so.

The people I spoke to there were absolutely lovely and were super helpful when it came to answering my questions. Whilst they are still setting up, I can hedge a bet that this store is going to be quite good. Stock changes regularly and they have a sale board out the front where they write up a bargain of the day. Keep your eyes peeled on this one.

And so I love 20th Century Scandinavia. It's so obviously the style of furniture to have right now, and if it wasn't obvious before, just take a look at the price tags attached to each bloody Eames chair. It's hard to deny that this era of Scandinavian furniture is particularly elegant, stylish and urban without looking at all try-hard or copycat, and it does fit so easily into Melbourne homes of a certain era. The furniture is this large beautifully laid-out store is all top quality stuff in exceptional condition and so the prices shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. If I could afford it, I so would.

There is a fashion trend visible here, a wave the shop seems to sit confidentiality upon.
