I wish many other online stores would be as pleasureable and easy to deal with as Mountfords. I will be back but my try my luck trying some on in store in future. We were strutting down Glenferrie road (because just how damn cool is that road at the moment?) and discovered Yodgee. A delightful shop full to the brim with *sensible* shoes. That's right, there was not a peep-toe heel or platform wedge in sight. So what was there? Stylish, comfortable and built-to-last shoes by some of the best, including the ever-important Birkenstocks, and the ever-cool Doc Martens. They are stocked for both men and women and have pretty much every style of Birkenstocks that actually exist (as far as I know), but even better, THEY HAVE ALL SIZES. I've been to far too many Birkenstock outlets to find that they only have crazy sizes left. The very efficient sales person at Yodgee quickly fitted my partner with the style and colour he was after and we were in and out in under 10 minutes. Easy peasy.

I used to have orthotics and have a bit of a dodgy body so it piqued my interest. But mostly I thought their mens' shoes range could be the answer to my hospitality-worker husband's problematic feet and recent pain issues. He now has a really lovely looking pair of work shoes that won't kill his feet. Bonus for me, I found two really nice pairs of casual shoes for him that he equally loves. So while we didn't get them all there and then (shoes here cost between $200-$290 a pair) it looks like I will finally get to stop nagging him to stop wearing thongs out and get him into some decent weekend shoes soon! Wife win. The women's shoes range have flats, loafers and heels. Most have an ankle strap to hold you in and stop toe-clawing. I found them a bit bulky for what I'm used to, but they're super comfy and I think I'll probably end up with a pair of the loafer style that comes up higher on the foot and doesn't need the strap. Right now I'm holding out for their new season winter boots as I myself do a fair bit of running around on foot. The staff were really friendly and knowledgable. They assured us that if there were any problems with the shoes at all, we could bring them back and they can refit the insole to sort any issues. Apparently they get people bringing back shoes after years to readjust the sole - making the price tag not only worth the investment, but actually a pretty good bargain for what you're getting. The buckle actually broke on my husband's shoes on his first day of wear which we were pretty surprised by, but they fixed it immediately and gave him some free polish for the inconvenience. Definitely sold on these guys.

The customer service is what makes me say that I'll never shop with Bared again. Take a week to reply, instead of helping with a refund try to sell more and generally don't seem at all keen to help. The fact that they don't do refunds was also poorly advertised on their website, so I only found out about it when it was too late. Such a waste of my time and money!

When I came to the store a young man who was a podiatrist served me. I brought in my old shoes and he had a look at them, then he got me to do a gait analysis walking barefoot on the treadmill. The gait analysis is when u walk/jog on their treadmill and there is a camera at the back that feeds live footage to a screen in front of you- so you can see how your feet are hitting the ground. After this he went and got me a few pairs of runners he though would suit my foot best- we then did the gait analysis again of me jogging in the shoes. He told me which ones were best and I got them. Was very happy with this place, the staff were helpful and polite. They had a good variety of shoes and they seemed to really know what they were talking about. Will definitely go back to an Active Feet when I need new runners again.
