My poor feet had been hurting from all the walking and travelling that I've been doing. Because I had already worn down my former Orthaheel sandals, I was due for a new pair. Shoes are great, but living in Hawaii and California for nearly all my life has conditioned me to wear sandals on a regular basis. I needed something quick, easy, and comfortable when I head out the door. The Walking Company provided many options for that! Many shoe stores I've visited rarely stocked orthopedic footwear- the only exception being the podiatrist clinic. Unfortunately, there is not much selection in design in such places. While my primary aim was to find orthopedic sandals, I also had a strong preference with ones with pretty designs. Although I have a foot problem, I don't necessarily want to advertise it to the world! Some footwear brands, such as Vionic and Orthaheel, offer this extra feature. I like the illusion of wearing cute sandals that don't look like orthopedic crutches. If I'm going to be spending extra money on special sandals, they best look nice! In actuality, I didn't have to spend extra money for nice sandals at The Walking Company! They were having a sale and much of their shoe prices were reduced. A pair of Ahnu sandals that originally costed $149 were on sale for only $89. The prices are still a little steep for me, but most orthopedic footwear is expensive. This was a pretty good deal. Also, they have a return/exchange policy that's pretty good. You can try out the shoes and see how it feels at home for a few days, and if it's not the right fit you are welcome to return it. The staff was really helpful and friendly! I am probably the most indecisive person in the world! It takes a while for me to decide what I really want. When it comes to making a decision that's going to affect your daily life (i.e. shoes, sandals), you want to make sure it's a worthy investment, right? The lady helping me was very attentive and wasn't put off by my lack of decision-making skills. After spending a while deciding between all the options, I decided to check out the Ahnu sandals. It can definitely be difficult to find shoes that's just the right fit. If you want a wide selection of footwear, I would definitely recommend this place. They cater to both men and women. I like it because I can get a decent, fashion forward pair of shoes for a reasonable price (the most I have ever paid is $150 for suede high boots). Walking into any Wittner store you'll be amazed with the sheer number of shoes that are on sale and usually most stores will have a sale section. I particularly like the Bridge Road store because there are some pretty good deals there. Last time I went there was a $30 basket near the front with some sandals thrown in - perfect for the coming summer. Expect sales assistants to be friendly and professional. All the ones I have spoken to know a lot about the product, however when its busy be prepared to wait for some one on one time.

In fact, I've been here a number of times (on really warm days) and have braced myself for the worse but I've never had to hold my nose once. This is good news in the world of outlet shoe stores! Besides that, the staff at the Swan Street store are helpful and more than willing to call around just to help you look for that darling pair of heels that you just can't get into at Swan Street. That being said however, I've only needed to go to another store on one occasion because the Swan Street store normally has my size.

This particular outpost of Rubi Shoes - which I think is the label's flagship store - sells a massive array of womens flats, heels, sandals, boots and trainers alongside jewellery and accessories like hats, belts, bags and more. Prices hover at around the $20 - $30 mark for a pair of shoes, and although Rubi's footwear is largely synthetic it fills an important gap in the market for the kind of shoes you have to buy to wear to work but really, really don't want to spend any money on. I particularly like Rubi's hats and scarves, which can be surprisingly fashion forward and are unfailingly well priced without always being attendantly poorly made. A must visit for accessories addicts.

But because my feet were hurting last week after a major trek from Prahran to Richmond, I decided to look for some sandals. I have to admit that at first I was a little sceptical but I did actually find three pairs I liked. The first was a black and white floral pair that was generous in the front and comfortable overall. The next was a red patent pair and the last was a black patent pair with a slight wedge. Okay so I got distracted and didn't find any sandals. But what I did find was a good range of shoes with a broad foot base - which is perfect for me. In the end, I didn't buy anything because they didn't have my size in the black and white pair which was my favourite among the three but now that I know their shoes are comfortable, I'm sure I'll pop in again soon. And since this is the outlet store, there's nothing over $60 - that in itself is good news to me!

I used to have orthotics and have a bit of a dodgy body so it piqued my interest. But mostly I thought their mens' shoes range could be the answer to my hospitality-worker husband's problematic feet and recent pain issues. He now has a really lovely looking pair of work shoes that won't kill his feet. Bonus for me, I found two really nice pairs of casual shoes for him that he equally loves. So while we didn't get them all there and then (shoes here cost between $200-$290 a pair) it looks like I will finally get to stop nagging him to stop wearing thongs out and get him into some decent weekend shoes soon! Wife win. The women's shoes range have flats, loafers and heels. Most have an ankle strap to hold you in and stop toe-clawing. I found them a bit bulky for what I'm used to, but they're super comfy and I think I'll probably end up with a pair of the loafer style that comes up higher on the foot and doesn't need the strap. Right now I'm holding out for their new season winter boots as I myself do a fair bit of running around on foot. The staff were really friendly and knowledgable. They assured us that if there were any problems with the shoes at all, we could bring them back and they can refit the insole to sort any issues. Apparently they get people bringing back shoes after years to readjust the sole - making the price tag not only worth the investment, but actually a pretty good bargain for what you're getting. The buckle actually broke on my husband's shoes on his first day of wear which we were pretty surprised by, but they fixed it immediately and gave him some free polish for the inconvenience. Definitely sold on these guys.

Made of actual fabric (leather…read morelined) it doesn't give you a long-wear (which I would expect from $250 shoes) and had stitches poorly done. The customer service is what makes me say that I'll never shop with Bared again. Take a week to reply, instead of helping with a refund try to sell more and generally don't seem at all keen to help. The fact that they don't do refunds was also poorly advertised on their website, so I only found out about it when it was too late. Such a waste of my time and money!

I just had some shoes died and it was only $25! The owner Mourinho (sorry if that's not how to spell your name) is super helpful and very friendly. You get the vibe that this place still has that old world customer service that died along time ago in retail. We've been here four or five times now and it's been perfect every time. Highly recommend!
