When I decided to take up running as a weekly hobby, one of my friends recommended that I get proper running shoes from this store. Having only run for a couple of months, I didn't know what to expect when coming in. I had never heard of the words "gait" and "pronation" until now. I informed the female podiatrist who served me of my intentions to run a half marathon soon, and she went through analysing my feet whilst running on a treadmill. After trying out 3 pairs, I was recommended one and purchased it. Their prices are definitely not cheap but I rationalised the service of a podiatrist came at a price.
For the months following, I experienced blisters, black toenails, toes going numb, and runner's knee. Thinking my socks or running technique needed fine tuning, I persisted wearing these expensive shoes until my running buddy pointed out that I have wide feet and Active Feet had not given me a "proper" fit. They had given me the standard "b" width and since this realisation was three months later, I thought it too late to go back and complain. Disappointed with their recommendation given that I was a newbie runner at the time, and definitely have not returned since. read more
