Maybe I am biased because I visited Muir Trail Ranch towards the end of our backpacking trip along the JMT, but FIVE STARS! We stopped here to pick up our food resupply which was stress free, and they offered tons of extra food from other resupplies that were left behind. They happened to have 1 one walk in room available that night so we immediately booked it - desperate for a shower and some home cooked food. The bill was not cheap, around $170 per person for a cold room but the amenities were great! The hot springs were so relaxing and the food prepared from the chef was DELICIOUS. This place is truly special as it is tucked away in the middle of nowhere. We wished we had one more day here but were sadly on a time crunch. If you are hiking the JMT or PCT, be sure to stop by the Muir Trail Ranch to see if they have a room available, or pick up some food, or purchase some supplies! You won't regret it.

You don't want to write a bad review because the place is quite amazing. So for as long time, I didn't write a review. I feel bad now that the old owners sold the place and they never got my positive review. There is new ownership here, but nothing has really changed. Everything seems to be the same quality. Every time I'm up in Shaver Lake, I opt to bring my crew here and they love it. Quiet, safe, and we always battle over who gets the upstairs Jacuzzi tub room. The new ownership responds to texts and concerns very quickly. Yes, there are other places in Shaver that look equal to this one, or maybe even more updated and very different, but if you're looking for coziness and "hygge"... This is your place.

One cannot but be impressed with the manner in which the dining table is set and the guests are served. We love it! Daily attention to the cleanliness of our rooms, bathrooms and living areas went above and beyond our expectations. Our hosts deep knowledge of the Mammoth Lakes area, their quality of being well-read, and ability to connect with their guests on any number of topics made for great, meaningful conversation with all the members of our family. We very much look forward to our next opportunity to stay with them again, and highly recommend a stay with them!

We were able to hike in Yosemite using the YARTS bus system ($30 round trip) & came home to a freshly made bed & homemade cookies every night after hiking all day. Liz made us a delicious breakfast at 8:30am (although she did ask if we wanted it earlier) & we caught the YART into the park at 9:15- hiking by 10am. Our hosts were fantastic, the room (top floor) was HUGE & definitely cool- even on a 95 degree day (those other reviews are ridiculous- Liz had no issues keeping us comfortable- in both AC use & shade for breakfast). On the last day of our trip the YART busses didn't show up for our trip back & Ron rescued us from the park late at night (we were literally stranded in Yosemite). I will say If you are in your 20s, looking to party this isn't the place for you. If you are a recluse not wanting to socialize, this isn't the place for you. But If you have 4 kids & plan on leaving them at home- this is totally worth it. In every aspect. My husband & I played scrabble at night with white claws & listened to the river... we slept in... someone else cooked for us...we hiked all day & came home to a cozy bed & friendly faces. Ron & Liz are definitely "chatty" as some have mentioned in other reviews, but you're staying in their home- so we felt it was all apart of the B&B adventure/experience. We will 100% stay here again and recommend it to all of our friends.

I hurriedly secured a weekend at this B&B through Expedia based on amenities and proximity to the park entrances (30 min. to either the south or the west entrance through El Portal). As a big yelper I was surprised I didn't check/read here first and booked trusting Expedia's reviews. I was so delighted to find out it had 5 solid stars! This inn is tucked off a small highway in Ahwahnee and has 6 very different units, each with little extras. I loved our Half Dome room - we had our own private entrance, parking spot, and a jetted bathtub. There were stairs which I knew would be a struggle after some hiking, but it was so worth it. Also had a small deck. First amazing surprise was a greeting by the very sweet Inn cat Buster. The breakfast deserves its own paragraph. Very beautifully presented, delicious, an ample amount and you get two time options which made planning our park visits easier. Speaking of which, I love that if you're planning to do an early hike you can ask for your breakfast to be packed in advance. We got a lunch bag where our host drew Half Dome with a John Muir quote (so cute! I kept it :)) filled with fruits and granola. We also got different chocolates after housekeeping tended our room each afternoon. Our final morning we got a puffy pancake with fruit, yogurt, and bacon. Sherilee was so kind and offered us extra bacon. After our meal, the other friendly cat Hank came and sat on my lap for a while. It was great! There is a real family / warm / cozy vibe here. The grounds are awesome. Quiet, natural landscape. A really nice pagoda where a party of 6 could come chill and has an overhead fan, lights, and outlets. Pool and jacuzzi with lights and AMAZING jets (best I've been in?) open until 10pm. Beside the lodge is a beautiful outdoor fireplace next to a grill. The lodge itself is free to use anytime and they have a ton of movies and games, large table, really comfortable couches and always the perfect room temperature. They also have deet, sunscreen, cookies, and a basket with some poles you can borrow. Overall we felt so welcomed and very well cared for. Got more than expected and was nice to come back to this place after hiking in the park. Will definitely be recommending this place and hope to return.

This place is a cozy, green oasis in one of the cutest towns in America, and the value is incredible. They let us have the run of the place for the whole weekend while we hosted and set up. The staff made it feel like home -- such kind and lovely people. Breakfast for our wedding party was included. Anything we asked for, they made it happen, and we were able to control every aspect of the event: bar, catering, etc. Another perk I didn't anticipate was a 360 view of the venue from the bridal suite, which allowed me to keep an eye on everything while I was getting ready. The suite is basically an apartment, with a full kitchen we were able to cater our rehearsal dinner out of. Most of our guests were able to stay the weekend and walk to the venue from their hotels (they make it easy with their sister hotel the Victoria Inn and associated rentals). Our wedding was a dream that we're sad to wake up from. If this place calls to you, do not hesitate to book.

Without any reasonable cause, he approached our group at 12 noon and abruptly demanded that we turn off our music, which was neither loud nor disruptive. What made this worse was that other campsites were playing their music at much higher volumes, yet he chose to ignore them and single out our group. The situation escalated later that evening, around 8 PM, when our family was simply sharing stories and enjoying time around the campfire. The same host barged into our site and declared that we were "getting loud," warning us to quiet down and threatening to return "or else." Meanwhile, other campsites were openly showing movies and running loud sound systems without any intervention. This selective enforcement felt malicious, discriminatory, and completely unprofessional. No paying guest should ever feel targeted or treated unfairly, especially when others are allowed to do the very things we were reprimanded for. To make matters worse, the water service was never restored for the entire duration of our stay, an unacceptable inconvenience on top of everything else.
