I've been camping for more than 25 years, whether it be dispersed with limited facilities or sites that have full on electrical outlets and close to a body of water (like Camp Edison). Yet majority of the time, I have been lucky to get a reservation here. To make a reservation, you will need to go on Camplife.com and select Camp Edison as your location. Reservations open up 6 months prior to your desired camping dates. So if you want to camp around June, you will need to get on the reservation site around December and compete with others in the reservation process. Reserving for May-July are the worst; similar to reserving at Yosemite National Park. It can be frustrating as you will be assigned a random number in the queue at 8am on the dot; so make sure you're logged in at least 15 minutes prior just in case you encounter connection issues. You can be either #1 or #1000; it just depends on how many are on the site at that given time. You also have a time limit to make your reservation or risk to having it swooped by another camper if you fail to do so. I recommend making your reservation on a desktop and not on mobile as you might have issues with cell signal. As far as the experience goes, I just love camping here. Sites are adequately spaced but other "Loops" may be a bit spacier. Most sites are RV/Trailer accomodating. Electric meters for eac site, communal water stations, hot showers (shower card needed) and flushing toilets. They also have a Camp Store near the Check In Booth. There are also vendors that drive around that sell firewood. You can also rent boats at the Shaver Lake Marina, and if fully booked, you can try your luck at the nearby Sierra Marina. Walking distance to Shaver Lake and a few mins drive to the Shaver Lake town. I highly recommend this campgrund if you're lucky to snag a spot online. Also, you can pay for "Day Use" only - which basically is equivalent to a Day Pass. Good luck! read more

Booked a last minute reservation for tent camping. Realized the site I booked was most likely too small (it was) so I found a larger site and was able to book the larger site and pay the difference. Restrooms are clean and functional and the showers are good for a campground. Super glad I don't have to pack quarters to shower. My daughter has decided she wants to spend her 13th bday there so hopefully I can book that for her. Fellow campers are courteous, it's the crows that woke us up at dawn. read more

Came here for 'A Day Use Beach.' Any car that is entering Camp Edison site, will be charged $15 dollar per car and $10 dollar per pet. They do ask how many people in each car for head count. I do recommend come early to pick your area because it does get pack after 10am. I got here at 930am and there's 3 family here already. Also, I recommend picking a spot where the sun's going to set so you can get the best shades through out the day! A DAY USE BEACH : Pretty nice beach area to swim at. There's no life guard on site so swim at your own risk. The picknic area is well kept and clean. Theres plenty of picknic tables around and a few grill sets. All you need is charcoal and fire for those grills. FYI, it's not a big beach so plan ahead and come early. There's not much parking spot and the beach area is pretty small too. BATHROOM : They have plenty bathroom in designated areas with a cleaning water fountain out side of the bathroom. They are pretty clean for a public bathroom. FYI, they're not flushable bathroom so it does get smelly throughout the day. RENTALS : We also rented 2 platoons and 1 jet ski. Fyi, they do charge if you did not return it on time. PLATOONS : FULL DAY : We booked it early and booked the largest platoon that tow for a full day. Rating at $700 and $1000 deposit (With cash/Credit Card). That $1000 will be refund after you return the platoon with no damage. JET SKI : HALF DAY : Jet ski at $500 for half a day. They'll flip the jet ski and note on damages before giving it to you bc they do check if you damage their jet ski. Our jet ski had a little problem and we had to return it. They'll take aprox. 15 min to suck up the water out so the jet ski can run faster. ADDS ON : FLOATIES : The floaties are first come first serve and price depends. We got ours at $35 each. SHAVER LAKE MARINA : They do have a little snack shop or necessities at the lake marina shop. This is also where you pick up and rent out your boats. CUSTOMER SERVICE : They're not the happiest people but they just do their job... and take your money. I did not have any bad experience or so... but They're average... and get stuff done. There are other designation areas too but I haven't been there yet. Like rv parking/camping etc. There's a couple mini stores on the side that I haven't check out yet. I've seen ice cream area and coffee cart etc. It's a cute place to explore. I'll definitely go back and go check out those areas. read more

Well it is like this. Fishing trip with our 14 year old grandson. The season nearly over forces you to various locations at the lake. Mainly boat launches and banks. We were told to go to Camp Edison. Bingo, still no fish but great location and access. For a $10 day use fee we found folks camping in tents at 33degrees just saying but we found the day use area worthy of stopping. He and dad did their fishing but after 2 hours no much we moved but had a great fall experience. The museum was not open yet but the outdoor displays looked cool. read more

Very pretty place to visit however.... this weekend my family and I came camping and on Sunday at 830 some lady who works for the campgrounds came to shut our music down. We complied and we went about our night playing a game. An hour and a half went by and another lady from Edison came to tell us to quiet down. We get there's a curfew but there was no need for then to come twice. That truly made my experience here a bad one. I think next year we will be going to Bass Lake. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camp Edison! The bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. The camp hosts ensured the restrooms and showers were tidied every morning. Initially, I had some reservations due to negative reviews about the camp hosts, but our campsite was right across from them, and we never received a single complaint (despite having a few crying babies). We stayed over the 4th of July weekend, which featured kid workshops, a golf cart parade passing by each campsite, a fireworks show, and amazing Tri-tip sandwiches! Everyone was friendly, and I appreciated the convenience of the little store where you could buy ice and even get hand-scooped ice cream! Additionally, the lake had many sandy areas, which meant fewer rocks to worry about. We will definitely be returning! read more

Our experience at this RV campground in Shaver Lake was absolutely horrible. From the moment we arrived, we were met with rude, unwelcoming attitudes from the staff. When we asked for help, a woman literally told us to "figure it out", no courtesy, no effort, just complete disrespect. The worst part came during checkout. We were dumping our tanks at 10:50 AM, well within the 11 AM checkout time, when staff came over aggressively waving their arms and scolding us like children, saying we should already be gone. There was no reason for that behavior, we weren't late, we weren't causing trouble, we were just trying to finish up like any RV camper would. Their tone, body language, and attitude made it very clear we weren't welcome. It didn't feel like poor customer service, it felt personal. Based on how we were treated, it's hard not to believe that racism played a part in their behavior. If you're a person of color or come from a diverse background, beware you might not be treated with the same basic respect everyone else gets. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, one star is the minimum, and that's already one too many. read more

We stayed at Camp Edison 07/06-07/10/22 @ space 216, in our 28' TT. Site 216 is electric only and listed as a medium site. It's shaded well and is near the bathrooms and showers. It is paved but did require some leveling of the TT. Site 216 is easy for backing-in. Campfires are allowed, there is a picnic table and Bear box at each site. There are some FHU sites available, however those were all taken. Every site does have electric. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is WiFi available for purchase and AT&T cellular worked fine throughout the campground and at the lake. The bathrooms and showers are clean. The showers are .25¢ for two minutes with an 8 minute max. You'll need to purchase a shower card from the front check-in booth. The campground store sells a little bit of everything. There's a supermarket 5 minutes down the road for any other necessities. The access to the lake is awesome. I'd recommend Camp Edison to others. read more

Definitely our place to go to when we come to Shaver! We always book our boat online and it is always ready for us when we arrive. The campsite areas are very clean and can get very crowded. There's a lot of parking areas and bathrooms. There's no soap and no sink. There are spigots on the side of the bathroom building to wash though. It's so nice to get away and enjoy the outdoors here. It's very peaceful when it's not crowded! The drive is easy as well. read more

Always loved visiting Camp Edison almost every pther year during the summer as me and my family like to "cool off" and enjoy each other's company. Like always, friendly staff at the entrance, helpful, and always ready to answer any questions we may have. The area is nice with a wonderful view. Restrooms are clean and usable. One thing is, they cap out around noon. I understand if it's super packed and need to close it off, but it wasn't even pack. There's still room to park multiple cars and plenty of unused picnic tables. Not sure if Camp Edison count the campsites renters as well, but I wished they wouldn't cap out at 12pm. 3pm is more understandable, but I don'tknow the rules and regulations so...that's that. :( read more

I absolutely love it staying at Camp Edison and visiting shaver lake during the summer. My family and I have been coming up here for years, it's a family tradition we all enjoy being a part of. The staff at Camp Edison is wonderful. I had the pleasure of camping next to Bob the camp post this past weekend. Bob was not only friendly he was also helpful. The bathrooms and shower facilities are old, but always clean. They could upgrade their toilet paper. The two ply can get a little rough. I enjoy walking around the campground and visiting though shop near the entrance. My sister and I shared a scoop of the bubblegum ice cream, talk about nostalgic. Camp Edison is a wonderful place to stay, I highly recommend it for a Camping family vacation. read more

Great place for a camping beginner. Has restrooms that are constantly being cleaned, running water by camp site, electricity at each site so bring your extension cords. No need for wifi since phones get a pretty good signal. Showers in restrooms aren't bad and super cheap at 25 cents for every 2 min. read more

I just got home from visiting camp edison I was there for 2 full days. Not sure where to start the lake is beautiful but management is very hostile and always on patrol. Upon arrival I was greeted by some lady first thing she asked me was " What business do you have here" she definitely wasn't the nicest very rude not welcoming at all. Before I left on my trip I was reading all these yelp reviews regarding the 10 PM policy and the staff being rude no lie they are 100% right. It was 7 PM and we had music playing not loud whatsoever my neighbors were enjoying the music no complaints everybody was having a good time next thing you know a "Karen" pulls up to the campsite and tells us we must lower your music down ASAP. Everybody was in shock like wow it's not loud at all it's more of their ego and they tried to enforce all rules they possibly can. They patrol very often every hour or so. My neighbor good friendly guy and his family where getting harassed as well they had a one year old and it was about 9 PM and the poor kid was crying and he had some "Karen's" show up to his campsite and told him "keep your kid quiet". They also showed up the next morning around 9 AM and wanted him to check out ASAP because the new guest had arrived when check out is 10 AM and they were literally outside his campsite waiting for him to Pack and leave ASAP. The lake it's self is amazing wonderful nice Clearwater. I had no issues down at the lake. When you arrive to your campsite you have to be quiet or you will definitely have "Karen's" come and give you some kind off BS. I would not recommend this campsite if you like to party or stay up past 10 PM. It's more of a retirement campsite with a Awesome Lake. Some pros electricity/showers/bathrooms/benches/bbq pit/great views/they sell firewood . Dog friendly. Lake is amazing Some cons Staff is terrible/have to pay to shower/Karen's always on patrol/ 2 starts because the staff is trash. read more

They raised their fees so now everyone pays higher amounts versus just the people with boats and pets paying more individually. They have non functioning internet and cable tv but still charge full price. ?? It's difficult to obtain a rsvp and once you do if you cancel you lose. $80 a site per night just priced them out of the market for me. Father Son Shaver Lake Trip 2023 July 24th-28th. Posting another great review of Camp Edison at Shaver Lake. Once again we stayed at campsite 103.. weather was perfect!! Water was warm!! upon arrival to check in we were directed to check in. This time nobody was outside waiting but it was kinda warm. So I went inside to the visitor center which was nice an cool. Lady was extremely friendly. Helped me with check in and gave me a parking pass for the Marina cause we were renting a boat this trip. Went to our site which was nice and clean, not a single piece of garbage! Had my son direct me in. And set up camp. Site has power, but no water or sewer. Had the water tank full upon arrival. Which got us showered for 3 days. After the water ran out, we used the showers across the street. The showers were very clean! Water was nice and hot. The bathroom was super clean, saw the camp host cleaning everyday. The Camp host near site 103 is a great guy. Very friendly, would stop by and check on us, are make sure everything was great. Which it was. Only problem we had on this trip was there was very little shore line off elderberry loop. But that is at no fault of the Camp. Nothing you can do there. We did have to find some new jumping rocks!! Which we did. And find a place to play wiffle ball. We did discover a new beach on our last day which sits behind Cedar Tree loop. Definitely going there next year. All and all... another great trip. Sons getting old, and trips will get harder, so have to make he best of every trip!! Where do I start, first of all the older lady that checks you in is the absolute worst human being. Surprised she has a job because of how rude she is. We had two cars in our party and the first car paid for both cars. She goes to our window and say the car in front of you didn't want to pay for you so you need to pay. We thought that was weird but paid. Funny cause the first car did pay and she pocketed the money. Then she started saying we don't have a boat rental, then said ok you do. But in fact this was the wrong Marina and the lady knew the whole time. Once we figured out we were at the wrong place we asked her for the money back. She knew right away that we were on your her and knew she stole our money, we got our money back after having to ask for it back. Never again I would ever be back or recommend this place to anyone read more

This is my happy place. I come every year multiple times. No complaints. There are definitely better sites than others, so take your map and mark your favorites for next time. They redid the little library. It is so adorable. They have kid workshops now, and more activities at the Kids Corner. We love it here. read more

A great place to camp for a weekend getaway! The entire staff was kind and the bathroom amenities were always clean and stocked which is always a camping plus! All of the campsites are within a 5-10 minute walk to the lake and all of the trails are marked so you don't get lost. If you forget anything during your stay there's a fully stocked convenience store just a brisk walk or mini drive away right on the campgrounds. read more

This is a review for the public day use beach at Camp Edison. Had an awesome lake day on a recent Saturday. Easy to find and friendly greeting as you pay the $10 day fee. We arrived just in time to get a great spot, about 9am. We had shade, plenty of space and a picnic table, and of course a great view of the lake and only a few steps down to the beach. There are communal bbq pits scattered around the area. I would suggest bringing your own table top grill, but if you get there early and ready to cook , you shouldn't have any issues. I visited both of the public restrooms nearby -one of them was so nice-an actual restroom with stalls and a sink. The other was a single use one more like a porta potty---will not be making that mistake again Lol! (The nicer one is near the "amphitheater " gathering area.) Fun, relaxing day and worth the drive up there. Would definitely go back soon. read more

Worst place ever! Never felt so disrespected and borderline racially profiled!!! I had never felt so bad and will never be coming back and recommend no one ever does! The whole weekend we were staying here there was musing clapping good old time all around and never did we see anyone be approached like we were about a supposed noise complaint! We had been out at the lake all day and came back and had been back for like 15 minutes barely finished unpacking the lake gear we took when two staff members approached our camp site. Both ladies asked who had rented the site and they asked that person to step aside. They preceded to tell him he was in charge and he was now in trouble because there was a noise complaint. Again mind you we had been back but 15 minutes and we could hear multiple sources of music from sites around us. I politely said excuse me does that mean the other sites are held to the same standard?? And she rudely turned and said he's in charge I spoke to him. I will not have a conversation with you! Ive never seen such horrible level of racist, no de-escalation training customer service ever!! I again said I'm sorry but I just ask because as you can hear there is plenty of music around us. The other woman attempted to be nice and said yes everyone else is also held responsible. And as soon as she did that small gesture to at least acknowledge the fact that I spoke she snaps back again and says. "Don't!! Don't talk to him!" The funny things is all the ENGLISH music was blaring all weekend and our playlist which has a couple English and Spanish songs is the only one that they rudely enforced the "complaint" on. Save your money and self respect and camp elsewhere. Never again and recommend no one ever does!! read more

The only reason I give this place a 1 star is because it's a beautiful area. In my opinion the company that runs the campgrounds are greeedy! Me and the family had driven over from Bass lake for the day to check out Shaver Lake and what it has to offer. All we wanted to do was a drive through in Camp Edison to get a feel for future reference. The campgrounds were full and so was the day use but the still wanted $10 to do a drive through. Even after I showed them my National Park Pass for Veterans they still wanted $9. I know I shoulda been grateful for the dollar off but still. read more

Day Use review. As of June 2023, it's $10 per vehicle for day use. You get a pass to put on your dash. We got there around 8am on a Sunday to enjoy a quiet morning and we had our choice of parking-- only a handful were taken by some fishing parties. It was relatively peaceful until around 11am when the families started arriving and setting up their grills and canopies. The views are great! read more

I had to go through Camp Edison to rent a boat. They told me where to park at the marina. I did. When I get back from being on the lake I have a "violation" on my windshield. I checked the lot where I was parked and I was in the correct area. Next time I rent a boat I will go to to Sierra Marina so I don't have to pay Edison for $15 day use. I have decided I really like this campground! It's nice to have an electrical hook up for our pop up tent. It's been hot up here this summer, so it's nice to be able to use our little air conditioner. We only have a fresh water tank, no grey or black tank, so hooking up to water isn't a big deal. Last time we had water, but this visit we just filled up from a shared bib with the site next door. Whenever we need a kettle of water for doing dishes, there are two water bibs within feet of us. All sites have a fire pit, charcoal grill, huge picnic table and food box. I believe all sites have electric hook ups - thanks SCE! This stay we are in the Dogwood Loop. Last time we were in Manzanita Loop. Both sites have been shaded and level where the pop up goes. There are many restrooms throughout the park, all with at least one shower. The camp hosts we have interacted with have all been very nice. As for our camping neighbors, they are the best! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Unlike us newbies, there are campers who've been coming up here for 20-30 years and more! There's a camp store for ice, provisions, firewood and more. Even an ice cream counter! Why four stars instead of five? It's a bit pricey-er than Dinkey Creek nearby. There our reservations were $17 per night (but the National Forest closed, so our reservation was canceled). Here, it's $60 per night. All in all, though, a very nice experience. read more

I had a great time this weekend. I came on a Friday in January and boy was I not prepared for the snow as it was my first time tent camping in the snow. First off make sure you have decent tires , carry some salt for the road in case you lose traction or better yet bring chains or a 4x4 . Frank the camp host was awesome and helped me get unstuck with some road salt . The staff was also very helpful in helping me get to my camp spot safely. The next day the drive out wasn't bad, and I stayed until 2 pm so the sun softened up the ice a bit . Most vehicles were not using chains and it wasn't snowing but there's lots and lots of snow. Bring a couple shovels to clear your tent / walking area. read more

Camp Edison was pretty awesome, but I will start with the negatives. Our campsite was very, very close to other campers. Our picnic table was about 3-4 feet from our neighbors. We stayed in site 204. Luckily, nobody was staying at the campsite next to us, so it was bearable. We had nowhere to walk and explore to right out of our site, we were on an island of dirt separated by 2 roads. We had 1 tree and some shrubs at our site and was separated by a large dirt hill between our tent and the food box, picnic table, and campfire. I wish I had pictures because we probably got the worst spot in the entire place. My only other concern with camp Edison is the fact that they are evicting shaver stables. Shaver stables is honestly the only reason I came to shaver lake for my birthday this year. Other than those two issues, this place was absolutely awesome!! The lake was so full and beautiful and dinkey creek is looking like a river. The lake is about a 5 min drive from the campsite which is super convenient and really made the trip worth it. Overall I had a great time, but I am knocking 2* off my review because of the location of my campsite and the eviction of shaver stables. read more
