Dr. Tran is a nice guy, and he definitely doesn't want to cause you any pain. But I'm not sure that all the work he does is necessary. Every time I see him it seems like I need a root canal and a crown. However, I did get a second opinion at one point and the other dentist confirmed what TLC had told me. The staff is also great, and they really commit to their jobs. Unfortunately, it's not all good. One of my biggest complaints is that they never have appointments available. Sometimes I have to wait over a month for an appointment. And when I do go in, there's a lot of waiting involved. I am pretty sure they double book their appointments because after they take me back, I always wait around 20-30 minutes. Another complaint is that they do not tell you what's going on while they're doing it, what you may need to do, what your options are, or what you should do in the future. The only time you know what they're going to do is when they give you the bill. Still, Dr. Tran is a good dentist and the staff is very nice. 6/10

I had a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth and was totally dreading that I'd have to get numbed with novocaine and deal with a dental drill. Until the dentist wheeled out this new laser they've been using to replace the drill. It required no numbing (so no needle in my gums, major plus) and the degree of discomfort involved was really minor, almost zero (think, like, the feeling of cold on a sensitive tooth but really short-lived). Seriously, the whole procedure was such a huge relief compared to what I'd been expecting. Totally recommend this office if you're expecting to deal with a cavity. Thanks, Dr. Dunn.

The doctor was busy with another patient, and unfortunately, no one informed me about the extended wait time. I eventually had to get up out of the chair and tell them that I needed to leave for a meeting. During the appointment, I was informed that I needed dental work that would cost $4,000. I decided to seek a second opinion from another dentist. I've asked three times for my dental X-rays to be shared with the other dentist, but I still haven't received them. The second dentist told me that the cleaning I received from Dr. Dunn was poorly done and that I didn't need the dental work she suggested. As a result, I will not be returning to Dr. Dunn.

For once he came back raving about how much he liked Dr. Shefaat and how he has to go back to have additional work done. Next up, me. I went the next day and the staff is very welcoming and so friendly. The office itself is very sleek and modern. The check in was on a digital touch screen (which I learned after butchering my signature a couple of times trying to do it with the mouse). I hadn't even sat for an entire minute before being called back which is a miracle since I'm used to waiting for a long period of time imagining the very worst outcome. Jacie was the assistant taking care of me and she was as nice as can be and fun to talk to. Didn't realize we were done doing my xrays since we talked about Netflix the whole time. Once I went back I was surprised to see that all my Xrays appeared on a TV screen located on the wall across from me. The doctor also used a tool that takes pictures of what hes telling me about so I could put a picture to what he was explaining. Me, being the visual person that I am, thought this was amazing! Up until this appointment I have never met a dentist I liked or trusted. I don't feel like I'm being pressured to have my dental work done immediately or that if I don't my teeth will fall out. Dr. Shefaat made it clear that it's not urgent but to keep in mind that it will have to be taken care of eventually and before it gets bad. Being told that makes me want to go back sooner! I was also able to text the receptionist Margi and ask her to send my file to my oral surgeon after I had already left the office so that is also a nice perk.

On my first visit I saw Dr. Syed and she did the actual cleaning herself. She was gentle, calm, caring and I enjoyed her. On subsequent visits I have had the hygienist and time with Dr. Ahmad. He too is kind, takes time to explain and is a lot of fun. I had what I thought was a dental emergency this week. Turns out that everything was okay and just weird spotting on my teeth. The office got me right in and Dr. Ahmad came in early to see me. The office is clean. The sanitary measures I have seen in other offices are all followed and another great part is when you call or walk into the office, you are greeted by a competent and caring person at the front desk. I am so pleased!

So, I'm sure you're wondering why 2 stars, well the receptionist at the practice is very off putting. I had an appointment 2 Friday's ago and on Thursday l received several calls from the office so when l was finally able to call in (apparently the end of their day) I was greeted with an argumentative/aggressive attitude. As l was being yelled at l then asked about moving my appointment for the morning l was told no and after a bit of back and forth l asked if l could speak with my dentist she said no, when l asked if l could leave a message, she said no. And suggested l find a new provider and said that's what the dentist would say. I normally would just send a note to the dentist directly but unfortunately they don't provide a way to reach them directly. And in most cases l would say nothing but this is not the first time this receptionist has been unprofessional, l once heard her talking about me, and the other workers all looked at me and started laughing. I am a Senior so I'm not sure if it's ageism, racism or just something about me she doesn't like, but people in these type of roles should be more cognizant of how they are coming off to patients, who are the backbone of the business.

She had a last minute work issue come up on the day of her appointment, and had to call the office to try to reschedule with only a few hours notice. The receptionist was wonderful - she called the other people with appointments around the same time to see if they could change to allow my girlfriend's appointment to be moved to later. The appointment was moved and Dr. Itskovitch even stayed late to finish the lengthening procedure. I'm not trying to encourage folks to change their appointments last minute - this instance was a true necessity - but we really appreciated the effort put in by the office since I know they didn't have to. Further, the quality of care was great and the prices for the crowns and lengthening were reasonable for the procedures undertaken (at least compared to prices in DC). The office also takes CareCredit, which can help with spreading out the cost of procedures without interest for a period of time.

Dr. Gildenhorn was amazing he explained everything to me. Beyond the procedure I have to say his personality is amazing. He's funny and direct and really cares You can tell he is super busy but I would expect that from a great dentist. Thanks to him I felt comfortable and appreciated. His assistant Maria was a doll. She completely made me feel great and she was very personable. Her smile made me feel great to have her around. She's beautiful inside and out. The procedure unfortunately did not help but it was perfectly done. I have no complaints or regrets. It's just one of those moments where luck wasn't on my side. Since I was indeed in dire pain I came back to him for a check up. The X-ray showed nothing but we decided on a root canal because of the excruciating pain. He apologized over and over and said he didn't like to see me in pain so he asked to give me an appt to Dr. Tran the specialist for a root canal ASAP. I only had to wait a day for her to be in office. Oh man I cannot express enough gratitude to her and her assistant Jessica. I myself am not your average person. She's kind, professional, gets to know me as a person, and she knows what she's doing. Dental hygienists can be hit or miss but she consistently exceeds my expectations (and I'm not an easy patient). The dentists that I typically (Dr. Schwartz or Dr. Kim) provide me all the advice and guidance I need, and I've never felt that they push me into any unnecessary procedures or add-ons. The practice itself is well-run. I never wait more than a couple minutes, I don't feel like they're rushing me through, and I recall any billing issues over the years. They also run a tight ship regarding covid procedures. I don't typically write reviews but I saw a few old negative posts and felt compelled to chime in with my experience.
