However, Dr. Ghafari examined my teeth very carefully and found it was coming from the shape of my tooth and my bite. I feel no pain at all now!!! I've seen many dentists, so I can safely say there's a difference between what impression you have as a patient and what is actually done in your mouth. I saw another negative review here, but my experience has been completely different. I can't say Dr. Ghafari is the most friendly dentist or one who gives lip-service, but I can say she is very resonable and honest about her procedures. She seems to be a perfectionist, which means she doesn't seek a short-cut to save her time and money. You should recognize how long it normally takes to clean your teeth. It can be less than 10 mins in some dental office, but that's not necessarily a good thing. That's why sometimes you have to wait in the waiting room a little more, but think if the previous patient were you. I'm pretty sure she could be way faster if she wanted. And moneywise, other offices may charge you less out of pocket but far more in insurance money that you need to use in your future. My wife had this experience, and it made me more grateful to Dr. Ghafari. At least she's straightforward about costs. For the last thing, I really want to say that you'll find how good dentist she is in how you feel about your teeth as time goes by.

I previously rated this dentist practice as exceptional. However, I am recinding that review…read moreentirely. The billing manager who sits at the receptionist desk sent my bill to an incorrect address (major HIPAA violation). This upset me very much. Additionally, the bill was for an amount in excess of the agreed-upon treatment plan, and there were no details as to what the extra amount was for. In speaking with the billing manager, she promptly hung up on me. I called back to talk with Dr. Rizwan to advise him of the situation. The billing manager sarcastically replied, "He is busy. Oh, don't worry, he will get the message and call you back." Three weeks have passed, and Dr. Rizwan has not returned my call. I believed we had a good dentist-patient relationship. However, I was wrong. It has been three weeks, and I have not received a response to date. I referred people to the Kentlands Dentistry practice, and they will not be returning because of this. Shame on the billing manager who felt so comfortable hanging up on a paying customer and for her very unprofessional manner. I am also disappointed that Dr. Rizwan would allow such an employee to work there and behave in such an unprofessional manner, and that he never returned my call. I thought I had finally found MY dentist. Very disappointing to say the least. Maybe the billing manager was a family member of Dr. Rizwan's, but she was horribly rude and upsetting. A HIPAA violation is taken very seriously and cannot be ignored.

If you are getting a crown, go elsewhere! Although it may seem nice that this practice makes crowns…read moreinhouse instead of sending out to a lab, making the crown also depends on the skill of the dentist. I've never had issues in the past with lab made crowns. This is the first time I've ever had a Cerec crown, and I have had pain for over two months. Also, I can FEEL this Cerec crown in my mouth constantly - it is as if there is something stuck against my cheek or on the tooth. It is causing me to bite the inside of my check. Plus, it is painful to try to chew even soft foods on it, the tooth/root hurts if I touch it with anything (tongue, finger, etc). Going through this pain, I did some online research on Cerec crowns, and there are a lot of issues with these type of crowns (most of which has to do with the skills of the dentist). The Cerec crown being too "bulky" so that feels like something stuck to your tooth or cheek is a complaint that people have had, which has to do with dentist not being skilled enough to fit it correctly. If you research Cerec crowns, you have to also be careful not to just read "advertisements" disguised as articles written by dental practices that purchased an expensive Cerec machine and want to recoup their investment! Since getting the new crown, I went back to Dr. Anolik's office three times because of the pain. The third time, Dr. Steven Anolik referred me to an endodontist, Dr. Jason Fields - who apparently is Anolik's go-to endodontist for referrals. He said the whole reason for the pain is that I am grinding my teeth. This didn't make sense to me - I might grind a little or clench a little, but I had gotten another crown on the same side years ago and never had this kind of pain. So, I switched to a different dental practice. My new dentist said that don't have a Cerec machine because of the problems with Cerec crowns. She tried doing a bite adjustment (grinding the crown down a little because it was hitting the top teeth to hard). She also referred me to an endodontist, and said to go if I am still having pain in a couple of weeks. The pain continued, so I saw the new endodontist, who recommended a root canal. He did the root canal, and when he got in there, he said the nerves were very inflammed (from all trauma of the crown) and some of the nerve was dead, and it was infected. That was the reason I was having this pain. Now the infection is getting treated, then he will finish the root canal. Then I'll go back to the new dentist and see about replacing or fixing the ill-fitting crown. I am writing this long review because I totally regret having walked into this dental practice in the first place. If Dr. Steven Anolik had told me BEFORE recommending the crown that they are using an inhouse Cerec machine to make it, instead of sending it out to a lab, I would have had a chance to research it before the appointment. But I did not know until I was in the chair for the appointment to get the crown. Would I have researched it and decided against it? I don't know for certain. But I believe patients should have the choice and have all the facts. Thus, I am writing this review for anyone who happens to see it, who happens to go to this practice and they tell you that you need a crown. At least you would have the choice to do some research on your own and decide if you want to risk having the dentist make it inhouse. Another thing I learned through this experience. The endodontist looked at all the x-rays and intraoral photos of that one tooth. It had a crack on both sides, which is why a crown was necessary. But he said that he would have done the root canal first, and then do the crown. There was a big risk of the trauma to the nerves, the inflammation, and a deeper crack that could not be detected. So doing the root canal first would have saved me all of this pain and multiple appointments and multiple painful shots in the mouth.

I did, however, undergo multiple X-rays during the process. In the middle of said root canal, the receptionist showed up to demand a $750 additional payment for a crown that, at that time, the dentist didn't know if it would be required. Post root canal, I was told that I'd get a call from the practice to schedule replacement of the temporary crown with a permanent. No call was forthcoming. Subsequently, I found that the in-network practice filed claims with my insurance indicating it was out-of-network, and the dentist's name was incorrect. Attempts to resolve this administrative quagmire were unsuccessful after multiple assurances that I'd get a call and unanswered voicemail messages. Two months have passed, with nothing resolved so I'm going to find a real dental practice to replace my temporary crown. Please don't subject yourself to this "medical practice".

I should say, the reception staff is great. They were helpful and accomodating, assisting me in getting an appointment the same day for both a cleaning and booking additional time if any other services were needed. However, that is where the positive experience ended. The hygienist who handled the cleaning was rude, condescending and disorganized. I spent a total of 45 minutes back in the chair, of which a total of 6 minutes was spent on the cleaning. The remaining time, the hygienist was walking in and out of the room, trying to make their equipment work, and making snide remarks. When the dentist arrived for an evaluation, it was not much better. He and the hygienist argued about what equipment should be used, what equipment was available. The dentist barely did a clinical exam, instead relying almost entirely on x-rays they took. Further, although I had booked time to resolve any issues he found, he said he would rather wait to clean some cavities he identified without providing any reason why it would be in my interest. In the end, I appreciated the office's ability to get me an appointment quickly, but the attitude and treatment I received was woefully subpar. I will not be returning to this office.
