Not calling Dr. Mui as soon as I had something that hurt. I lost 3 weeks of training due to me being stubborn and not wanting to go see someone about it. Never again. It seems that 80% of a patients "contact time," while a patient at the Outpatient Surgery Center, is with the Center's Registered Nurses, and they - - collectively - - are a group of (especially) kind, comforting, professional, and efficient healthcare providers. There is no edge, or anything edgy about the Newton Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center, is is a place that seems to be stuck in a "state of calm;" there's no pandemonium, noise, rushing, waiting, or drama, just kindness, caring, efficiency, and healing. My surgeon, hand surgeon, Matthew Leibman, MD is a Rock Star, a professional, genius, skilled, caring clinician.....unpretentious, despite all of the important people that he cares for. Dr. Leibman's Physician Assistant, Ashley Piemonte, is equally caring, professional, and skilled, and misses not one detail - - she makes certain that your continuity of care is continuous. I had the most epic sciatic experience of my life. Starting in May I thought with chiro and…read moremovement I could get through it. But for some reason I was not improving. This required real detective work. I started working with Tom in July. We began examining symptoms and doing therapies. What made my case challenging was that the way the pain would present itself kept shifting. The only constant was I couldn't sit. But it started in May in my SI joint and then moved to other places. In September I finally noticed a big knot in my lumbar spine and that proved to be the key symptom which led to the curing treatment. What Tom did best was take time, listen and work with me through this challenge. That's also the nice part about PT is the length of time of each visit. It allowed me to share what I learned from my workouts and daily activity and give Tom feedback that he could explore. Then in one session, on September once we found the source symptom and figured out the cause, my pain went from a 10 to a 2 in one session. Further work has lowered to a 1. I still have other things to work on (more strength and stability) but Tom helped me get my life back. Awesome work.

They really take the time to understand the "why" of your problem. I appreciate that they do that and not just throw exercises at you. The office is clean and recently updated. The staff is very friendly as well. I visit for regular check-ups and make sure to request referrals when the family needs specialists. Although I know that Dr. Zhang is a very busy man, he always makes sure to schedule quick appointments when necessary. This is not the type of place that makes you wait for months before you see the doctor. When visiting this location, be sure to bring quarters for street parking. Also, make sure to bring enough cash or a personal check in order to settle your co-payment requirements. Newton Center is great and I always allow some time to go for a walk around the block and explore a little bit.
