Communication with Mr. Hundt was horrible, most of the work had to be re-done or corrected and there are still a couple of things that were not done to our satisfaction, but at this point I guess we will have to live with those. I will say that our friends assume that we spent about $30,000 on the project, when in reality, our final price with electrical work ended up at only $22,000. So, I guess we got a lot for the price, I will give Mr. Hundt that. Positives: We love our concrete. The concrete sub did a great job. We got a lot for the price. We are happy with the stone work around the bar and the columns. When we weren't happy with something, Mr. Hundt would send the subs back out to correct the work (or attempt to correct the work) The electrician did a good job with lighting (for the most part) Negatives: Mr. Hundt may or may not respond to your messages (voice, text or email) Communication is horrible. Do not let him talk you in to a limestone top. We asked about an alternative up front and he said he uses limestone. We trusted this and it has been a pain. He assured us it would be sealed and what we have now (and have had since it was installed) is a spotty counter top that absorbs any dirt or grease and is impossible to clean. His comment when we showed him the streaks was "well, this is the best that I have seen". My response was "well I'm surprised you continue to use this product then" The project should have taken about 2 weeks and it was finally completed about 8 weeks later There are, what looks like, strap marks on the cedar beam (see picture) that can't be remedied. I'm disappointed that this piece of wood was even used when building our structure. Thankfully it is on the back side of the project so I don't have to sit and stare at it. We asked for the gutters to be installed on the back side so that we couldn't see them. I verified with Mr. Hundt that he went over this with the sub and he said he had. We got home from work one day and sure enough, they were installed on the sides instead of the back. We called Mr. Hundt and he said "well, if the sub doesn't fix it, he won't get paid". I would have rather have heard something like "I will have someone out to fix them asap". Regardless, they were fixed about 3 weeks later. We are enjoying our patio and the memories that we are making in our outdoor living area. If you can be there to supervise every move that the subs make and catch mistakes before they are made, you will be fine! Also, if you want more bang for your buck, Hundt is your guy. Just be open to a few heartaches and dissapointments along the way.

What I ended up w/ was a globbed on brown paint. When I asked him to correct his mistake, he had me troubleshoot options, coordinate w/ the stain vendor, research what our options were as he seemed unknowledgeable on how to fix his mistake. He then felt it best to strip the deck, which ruined the wood itself, and now refuses to restain the deck without charging me even more. Untrustworthy, poor quality work, no professionalism. Steve gives contractors a bad name. I am now unfortunately working w/ various legal options to try and remedy this issue that way.

I randomly selected a couple roofing companies from yelp and called Bret next. The response was super fast, before I finished leaving voice mail he already texted me back. He was able to come out the same day. He then arrived on time, inspected the damaged area and the entire roof and told me that my roof is still great and that he could get the damaged area patched up the same day. The price he quoted me was almost unfair, to him. Outside of his super reasonable pricing, I also detected honest feedback and passion to his work. I had a few more companies lined up that afternoon originally, I ended up not needing them to come out after I spoke to Bret. I'm very happy and thankful with the timely help he rendered, and I have no hesitation to reach out again when my roof or fence needs upgrade! Long version: Scenario - It's a freezing (sub 40 degree) day in North Texas and I'm out of town on a business trip with my wife, son and mother-in-law at our home in Flower Mound. Wife calls and says the heater is not kicking on. She calls an HVAC company who comes by checks the heater in the attic and says, the unit is working however there is a pipe that vents through the roof of the attic that seems clogged or bent, but they don't do those type of repairs and she would need to call a roof company. Frantically, I scour Yelp for a good review and find people glowing about Bret's service and I give him a call. It's late in the day on Friday and when I explain the scenario, he immediately sprung into action and helped us resolve the issue. I'm going to highlight multiple reasons why Bret, owner of Texas Pride Roofing and Fencing will always have my business for roof and fence needs for as long as I live in the DFW metroplex. 1. Promptness - When I called Bret although it was later in the day, he was willing to head to our home and check out the situation, getting to our home in a couple of hours due to the severity of the situation. 2. Honesty - He took photos of the situation and gave a fair assessment of the situation. In this instance he said, "I don't have all of the parts that I need now but I can get you up an running for today, and then come back next week after I'm able to get the parts when I can get to a supply shop" 3. Thorough - He was on the roof, in the attic, and investigating the situation from every angle. Shared photos of his assessment, and was descriptive about what he was doing. 4. Genuine - The first time he came to the house, he hopped on FaceTime to talk to me and make me feel at ease with him at the house with my wife and family. You can look at someone's eyes and know that they are being sincere, that is this guy 100% 5. Follow up - It took him coming to the house a few times to get the situation completed, and I had to ask him for an amount that I owed him. He wanted to make sure that I was satisfied before asking for money. A true stand up guy, good business man, and yes, the roof is fixed, the exhaust pipe repaired, and the heat is working. These are all pictures that Bret provided, the first four (4) showing the problem and the last two (2) showing the repaired duct work and exhaust/vent pipe Although this was not a typical roofing job, Bret went above and beyond to make sure our family was warm and comfortable.
