Again it wasn't so much what she said but how she acted. A smile or even acting like you're interested can go along way for great customer service.

We looked around they had a plethora of things sport related, their snowboards, bindings, and boots were good deals. The next day we came in at 8:20, right when they opened. To be…read moreclear, the campground is a short distance prior to the actual lake which has its own parking lot and trailheads. Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)

I've crossed paths with many guide companies in my years behind the oars and it isn't always a pleasant experience. From the put in where the guides helped me move my 15' raft and gave me verbal beta on the notorious Dragons Tooth rapid to the actual rapid itself they were polite and helpful. We didn't see them for 2 days on the river until the scout for Dragons Tooth. Being just a single boat with two people I graciously accepted Aaron's offer to keep an eye on us through the scary rapid. Imagine my surprise as we emerged from the chaotic maelstrom to 6 guides working safety and 45 cheering clients. It was truly a surreal river experience. A big part of a great guide service is how they treat their customers and other boaters. If you want to be on the river with a self important grump, there are plenty of them out there. If your desire is to run a classic river with a truly nice, excited, and competent group of guides River Dancers is your outfit.

We did the Upper Klamath River from Boyle Powerhouse to Copco Lake on August 27 that was pretty much continuous Class 4+ rapids for two hours. One thing to note is that there is a decent amount of driving, first to get to the city of Mt Shasta (in your car) and then to get to the put-in (in their van) and vis versa. We did pick up people in the small town of Keno in Oregon so it might be better to do this river segment if you're staying in Klamath Falls/Medford rather than somewhere in NorCal. The van's AC wasn't working too well on the way back so that could be improved.

So, I've rafted the entirety of the Trinity River on a personnel level and have taken two guided…read moretrips. First in 23' with Bigfoot (it was good) and the second with Trinity Rafting. This trip, bar none, was outstanding. Now, maybe it was the guide affect? Our guide Ben gave us far more then we anticipated. I had my 20 yo daughter with me and she had a blast. Ben created a fun and relaxed atmosphere void of any tight-ass guide power trips. A full day doesn't mean a full day of class III. The class III rapids are a blast but the stops at the N. Fork, the unreal waterfall hike, jump rock and plenty of swimming opportunities are an added bonus! Enjoy!
