Fred Groos is hands down the best bootfitter I have ever worked with. My family previously…read morepurchased three pairs of boots from a high-end bootfitting store in the Vail Valley, but I decided to try Sun & Ski--and I am so glad I did. Fred was patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely compassionate. He listened carefully as I explained the pain I've experienced in ski boots for years--even those from expensive specialty shops. For the first time, I truly felt heard and understood. I have skied my entire life, starting at age four, and I had never known skiing without boot pain. Fred took the time to explore multiple solutions and never once rushed me. He genuinely cared about getting it right. Some shops don't seem to take female skiers seriously, but Fred absolutely did. I hadn't even planned to buy boots that day; I was just browsing. But thanks to Fred's expertise, I ended up purchasing the best boots I've ever owned. I literally cried when I skied in them--no pain and no break-in period. I had resigned myself to the idea that I'd need $1,500 custom boots forever, but Fred found the perfect pair for me for just $600, tax included. Because my experience was so incredible, I insisted my husband return the following weekend to buy his boots from Fred as well. Everyone at Sun & Ski is kind, knowledgeable, and treats customers with genuine care--better than I've ever been treated at far "fancier" stores. We will be buying our boots from Sun & Ski for life. Thank you, Fred. We appreciate you more than you know.

However I was fortunate enough to work with Colby who immediately directed me to a pair of 2023 Men's K2 Thraxis boots. These are killer boots for the 50% off price. Colby was beyond helpful and he was stoked to see these boots go to the right person. All in all a great experience, thanks to Colby!!

I hate leaving bad reviews- but buyers beware of ordering for shipping!…read more We ordered a a pair of skis and UPS delivered it in a box that was completely crushed and split open. I could see the skis before even opening the package. Of course I wanted to return it as I don't even know the condition/ how compromised the skis were. I immediately sent photos with delivery timestamps and regardless of how UPS shipped it- the way the company handled it was so rude. The Director of Operations called me the next morning and did not apologize once. He was so condescending and said he already discussed this with me via email. The packaging was so compromised that I couldn't even reuse it to ship the skis back safely- he asked me why I can't you just tape up the sides and ship it back. I kept trying to explain that I was nervous to returned expensive equipment in a completely damaged box- I wanted to ensure I got a refund and prevent further damage to their afraid these expensive skis he didn't care- so condescending and rude - No accountability. No ownership. No solution. Just deflection and attitude. If this is how they handle a straightforward shipping issue, imagine how they handle real problems. Ski equipment isn't cheap, and customers deserve better than being told to fix the company's mistake with a roll of tape. I'm shipping it back as is and if it's damaged further it's not my problem. I will not be ordering from them again, and I will not be recommending them to friends or fellow skiers. There are plenty of other retailers who value their customers & their equipment.

Great place to rent skis and snowboards!…read more The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I was there with a friend who rented ski's etc. and so I just asked the guy for some advice on my gear setup. He totally helped me out, spend time adjusting my bindings and gave me a bunch of good advice. While I was there, a few other customers walked in, and he helped everyone, with all sorts of random problems. We need more business like this!

It was by far cheaper than the other rental places in the area. We actually went to another Charter facility that was located in the Marriott by accident. They would have helped us there too, but they were so busy. She called our correct rental facility (Lionhead lodge) and they said they didn't have a wait, so we finally got to the right place. On a side note, while at the wrong Charter, I needed to have my bindings adjusted and even though it was slammed, the technician fixed my skis for me in a few minutes without complaint. Immediately, they were super friendly and got my kids fitted. They made sure that my kids had the right size (which took a couple of tries) boots and skis. They also allow you to store your skis there for the night. We had bought a 2 day ticket but we weren't sure we would use those 2 days consecutively. They allowed us to store our skis there and would not charge us until we came back to use them for our 2nd day. Also when we did come back to return the skis, the technician that helped us originally welcomed us back and even said my last name. How did he remember me? I have no idea, but that is great customer service. I would definitely rent from this place again.

For the summer months, visitors can rent a bike for any terrain. I wanted to see what the hype was about, so decided to try an e-bike. The bike was a very clean, class one e-bike suitable for biking/walking paths. The Bosch e-bike system was easy to use and allowed for quick change riding mode (manual, sport, turbo, etc) and being able to switch on the fly was a huge advantage when it came to riding the steep hills (going up both ways.....lol). The rental process is quick (especially since Epic Mountain has my profile) and the staff was really helpful, giving me a quick rundown on how to operate the bike. Rental rates are by half day (4 hours) or full day. Take note that folks can save 20% when reserving online versus in-store. The pricing is a little more expensive than if I had rented an e-bike thru our hotel, but Vail Sports has better maintained equipment. Rental prices do include a helmet and each bike has its own handlebar bag. I was able to ride thru the town, in the residential area and up/down Gore Creek Trail. The latter is a safe option when going between East and West Vail and does provide beautiful scenery. Upon returning the bike, the staff was also very friendly in answering my questions, helping me to decide whether or not I am going to invest in a purchase. I must say the pedal assist on some hills was a fantastic bonus to my ride. This was a great "touring" experience while visiting Vail and with the friendly and very knowledgeable staff, I would definitely recommend Vail Sports for all season equipment rental!
