We had three leaks repaired by Bill Stanley Contracting-Coating on 2/27/18. We have not used this…read moreroofer before. Bill was easy to contact and responded immediately, stopping over the house the day we called and coming out to fix the issues the next day. Incredible. We had these three leaks for years but they were getting worse. Bill said he would have no problem fixing 2 of them completely and the third one "probably" as that one may take a complete section repair. But he said he would come back and fix the repairs twice if they didn't take, for free. Not only was that great but the price was totally reasonable (unlike 90 percent of the service people we all have to deal with). Bill Stanley was very honest, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Honestly I can not recommend him enough, based off our one project, for any roofing "things" in Central Pa. We already have plans for him to come back. He also has a son who will hopefully keep up the tradition.

Gary claims online that his crew is 'meticulous' with air sealing, but my experience proved that…read morehis priority is cutting corners and burying the negligence under insulation. During the process, Gary explicitly stated to me via text: We don't usually vacuum the attic floor before sealing and he even attempted to bring a leaf blower into my attic instead of doing real prep work. I had to spend ten hours of my own labor sweeping and vacuuming the dust, dirt, and mouse droppings just so the foam would actually adhere to the wood. I also had to explicitly override his instructions to his worker just to ensure my exterior top plates were foamed. Worse yet, Gary looked me in the eye and lied to my face, telling me he personally took care of sealing the main plumbing chase. Because it was about to be buried under R-60 cellulose, he clearly assumed I would never look. Days after they left, I opened my bathroom tub access panel and found the chase completely open to the attic, with brand-new cellulose insulation already leaking down into my walls see before photo All he left was a useless bead of foam on a lower piece of framing that did absolutely nothing to close the actual gap. When I texted him clear photographic proof of this shortcut, he read the messages and completely ghosted me. He got his money and simply did not care. I had to crawl in and properly seal the chase myself (see 'after' photo). Check their work thoroughly if you hire them--or better yet, find a contractor who actually cares about quality and honesty."

Bill (owner) came to our home to estimate installing blown-in insulation under attic floorboards…read more He explained the work, gave a lot of information, and showed a binder of notes he had received from previous customers. Later, he called because he forgot about a small jut-out in our living room (and said since it was his error, he would add it to the quote at no cost). We were happy with the quote so we called to schedule and were given our choice of days in December - we were told that we were the first to schedule for the month. We chose a Tuesday and were guaranteed that the work would take 2 installers in 1 day. A few days later, we called Bill because we realized he had not included a small jut-out in the back of the house - if the front needed insulation, we asked whether the back would need it as well. He told us yes, but instead of adding it to the quote for free (since he had also missed this area), he was going to charge us an additional $200. We weren't thrilled, but didn't think we had an alternative. Our installation day arrived and we received a phone call around 8am that one installer "called out" and the other was sick, so the work would not be done that day. (By this point, we had already moved everything in the house so that the attic and 2 jut-outs were fully accessible. Our house was a mess. We had also both rearranged our work schedules to be sure we could be home to take care of anything that came up). At 9am, we called the office and spoke with Marie. She told us they had scheduled a 3-day job beginning Wednesday (the next day) and did not know when they would be able to reschedule us. We told her that this was not acceptable, that we had been planning on this and could not wait a few more weeks. We politely asked for priority, since we had been the first to schedule and the next people could at least be given 24-hours notice of a schedule change due to the guys being sick (ie that all jobs be pushed a day). She told us that she would have to speak with Bill and would let us know. Around 12:45 (Marie only works until 1), we called Bill directly, as we still had not heard back about our request that our installation be shifted to their next working day. After explaining the situation (which Bill seemed unfamiliar with other than that the guys were sick), he was very rude to us on the phone, insisting that people get sick and he can't control the schedule. After repeatedly trying to tell us that he would call us back the next morning (which we said was unacceptable, as we needed to plan our schedule), he finally said we'll be there tomorrow and abruptly hung up. The next day (Wednesday), an installer did come to our house. However, only 1 person (we had been told 2 installers) worked and then left at 2pm. He gave us no reason why the work could not be finished in 1 day (as quoted), just that he had to leave and return the next day. Two installers came on Thursday to finally finish the job (about 2 additional hours). They drilled 2 holes in our living room ceiling before they realized that no insulation could be added. They proceeded to patch these 3-inch holes with a couple inches of spackle. We asked why they were not using tape or mesh in addition to the spackle, and were told that "they don't do that." To note, the installers themselves were professional and pleasant. To summarize, what was supposed to be a 1-day installation took 3 days, significantly disrupted our lives at home and at work, and caused a great deal of stress. We have 2 unnecessary holes in our living room ceiling and all areas did not require insulation (meaning less product than expected was installed). We understand that people get sick (which is not the cause of our frustration); we do not feel the rest of the situation was handled well. We did express our concerns to the office, but they did nothing to try to make things right (such as a small discount).

I've owned this 100-year-old house since it was a 70-year-old-house and, as you might imagine,…read morewe've had a few professionals at the house over the years and we've learned a bit. In this case, we needed to replace a natural gas hot water boiler and the water tank connected to it and we hired LCS. LCS had glowing reviews here on Yelp and I hoped they were true when we decided to hire them. I can say now that those reviews weren't glowing enough. LCS's attention to detail and their commitment to the quality of their work is amazing. Three anecdotes to give you a feel: 1) They were to arrive on day 1 of a 2-day installation at 8:30 am. They arrived at 8:33 and the first words out of their mouth were a sincere apology for being late. 2) At the end of the job, they found that the thermostat they had was not the one they ordered, and they asked to stop by the next day to install the correct one. While here the next day, they noticed a drip from the exhaust vent that that might possibly hint at a thing that, someday, in the exact wrong conditions, could possibly cause a problem with exhaust pressure. And they then spent the next 6 hours very, very, very slightly rerouting the exhaust to correct that fault. 3) Later that same day, at supper time, the new thermostat - which was working fine when they left - failed; it wasn't demanding heat. I called and they were back within 20 minutes with a new thermostat. The system has worked flawlessly since. These guys are a small locally owned small business. Just some guys trying to make a living. Jason, Jonathan and Patrick are the ones I know they're legitimate, honest, responsive professionals who are trying to do it right. Reward them.

He explained everything in layman's terms and made sure I understood what was going to happen. After selecting LCS we were pleased in how quickly they were able to get the job scheduled and completed. Our new Heat pump system is so much better than the old oil system. It's quiet, efficient, and does not have that smell. Jason, Pat, and John worked well as a team each getting their part done and letting me know along the way how the process was going. I am really happy with our choice to go with Legacy Comfort Systems and you will be too.
