After meeting Steve, there was an authenticity about him that none of the other contractors possessed. Every question that we asked him, he was up front, honest and listened intently to our wants and needs. After receiving many quotes, unfortunately then, we knew we had to save up before we could afford to have our kitchen done. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and we were ready to take the plunge! We knew that Steve was our guy. We gave him a call, he came back out several times to take measurements, design, etc. We had a start date of March 2020. Surprise... COVID! Everything was in limbo and we decided it was best to wait. Finally come August 3rd, 2020 Steve and his helper started demo work. Our final completion date was mid October. During construction time, I had two other friends getting their kitchens done as well. The horror stories they told me of their contractors being late, not being honest, charging more than what the contract stated, etc. had my husband and I feel like we hit the jackpot finding Steve. Many contractors now a days sub everything out and don't lift a finger. Not this guy! He is there every day, doing the work, and is passionate about his craft. He is meticulous and will not cut corners, leaving you a project that you are proud of. Steve is arguably the hardest working human my husband and I have ever met. When you hire Steve, you don't just get a contractor, you get a friend...that turns into family. My husband, my two children and I fell in love with Steve. He brought us joy daily during the two months he was with us and has become part of our extended family. We miss seeing him frequently, but now get to enjoy the work he did on our home daily. Martin picks up on the first ring and stays in touch by call, text, and email. He sent photos and videos the whole time I was away and managed every subcontractor. Jane handled billing over the phone from Florida and made it easy. The crew cleaned up every day like they had never been there. The work was real construction, not cosmetic. They removed a kitchen/living room wall, added a structural beam with 4,000 PSI concrete, pulled permits, used an engineer, and passed inspections. The kitchen was taken down to the studs -- new insulation, sheetrock, cabinets, granite, under cabinet lighting, under cabinet receptacles, appliances, plumbing, fridge water and ice line, and the gas line was moved when they extended the kitchen about four feet. We gained roughly 60 square feet and about 15 cubic feet of cabinet space. They matched the existing oak floors after the wall came out and added a 4x4 opening kitchen skylight with a rain sensor. They also converted a powder room into a full bath with a custom handmade 4x3 shower using three different tiles, plus a new toilet, vanity, sink, plumbing, heater/exhaust fan, recessed shower lighting, nickel spaced wooden wall, pocket door and vanity lamps. Electrical was upgraded from a 60-amp panel to 200 amps for the whole house. They tripled the receptacles on the main floor and added motion-sensor closet lights, five ceiling fans, basement lighting, stair lighting to the yard, and exterior motion lights on both sides and every corner of the house. Outside they installed five new exterior doors, new windows on the main floor and basement, two storm windows with screens, a doorbell, hose bibs, a doggy door, a vinyl fence, and leaf guards after inspecting the gutters. They cleaned the attic, installed heavy-duty pull-down stairs rated to 400 pounds, put in interior and exterior French drains, added a new laundry tub, and cleaned up a yard that had sat for a year -- including removal of two 70-80 foot pines, two large dogwood shrubs, and the stumps. Carpenters Carl and Ryan were excellent -- skilled, honest, and trustworthy. High-quality work from start to finish. I would hire MTP Construction again.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

We've had a few other projects done prior to working with Alpha General Contractors and I wish we used them for everything prior.
