The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.

Captain Kim shared details about the homes we passed and some fun historical facts. Once we arrived at the island, we had to look around a bit for the raccoons, but we had been prepped by our captain on what to expect and the best ways to attract the raccoons. Within a few minutes, curious raccoons wandered over to greet us -- they were friendly, adorable, and clearly used to visitors. We brought snacks (they loved Lays chips!) and even shared water from our bottles - some of them drank straight from it like little beach bandits! It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime, up-close encounter with nature, and we couldn't stop laughing and snapping photos. OceanForce Adventures are real pros. Also, I could not find anywhere the $3 commuter tickets or packages, I have seen ads from you where you advertise that but, I could not find these anywhere on the website and then, most important of all the delay, we were there 15 minutes before departure as requested and nobody was there, at 6 pm the time the ferry was supposed to leave nobody there, no ferry, no personnel, so I called and they told me the ferry was 15/20 minutes late, I told the guy it would have been good if they texted the people that purchased the tickets online given they have all our details, he said it was posted on the website...............so, who goes back on the website once you have purchased the tickets? You should implement an automatic text alert for the customers that purchased the tickets informing them of the delay, so at 6.15 pm I did receive a text, this was 15 minutes from the original departure time, the alerts should be sent 15 minutes before departure or even earlier if you know there are delays, but ok, room for improvement, the problem is that we only left at 6.40 pm........ 40 minutes late; if you are planning to have commuters using this service you need to make sure that the ferry leaves on time otherwise you will never get this part of business, people need to arrive on time at work and if they are relying on the transportation you provide, you should really make sure to be on time, 5 minutes late it is fine but 40 minutes late it is definitely not. One more thing, you advertise that the crossing takes 20 minutes, yesterday by the time you leave and the time you get there and get off the ferry, it took 40 minutes, I think this is an important information especially for commuters that need to know the right time, if it is like that all the time, maybe you should specify it, I don't mind the 40 minutes but if I had to go to work I would want to know. This was the second time I did one of River of Grass Adventure's boat tours. Both times, my guides…read more/ boat Captains were great. They are passionate about the Everglades, preserving it, and really love what they're doing. For about hour, we zipped and stopped around the park, through channels in between the high saw grass, over grassy flats, and within a few canals dredged many years ago. The fresh air felt great and I think maybe my blood pressure eased for a few moments. We saw wildlife, including a peregrine falcon, other birds and of course, many alligators, either resting on the grass or swimming off to do whatever it is they do. The guides I think know pretty much where to find the alligators, some of which have names. River of Grass is one of the first swamp tours west of Miami off of highway 41 past the casino. The boats take you pretty far into the Everglades where you don't see or hear any civilization, only the quiet rustle of the grass, i.e. when the engines are not powering the boat thru the glades (why can't they make a quieter engine?).
