The owners and managers here are genuinely interested in the renter having a great event and experience at a very reasonable cost. They work with you and can provide, lighting, sound and a beautiful upstairs patio. Not only have I booked this place for events but I've come here for events thrown by others and each one was really fun and hassle free. Lots of parking, private artist green room, upstairs patio with heating lamps and furniture, lighting, beverage area, seating booths, and sound. What else can you ask for. Love this place!!!

Found House of Gods on yelp and called and Kevin asked us to come see the place that same day. He was always available when we had questions. The venue is a very DIY which is nice considering every venue out there makes you use their caterer or linens or dj...we were able to have the in n out food truck and an open bar with our own bartender. I would definitely recommend another bride who is frustrated with all the inclusive venues that cost a ton to give this place a chance. We loved our wedding :)

And yes, I will sound prissy in some of my reasons. I am a huge priss. Can't say that I like that about myself! Pros 1. Beautiful lofts, with upstairs loft space. (Not just a big box.) 2. Brick walls and exposed pipes. Gorgeous! 3. Laundry w/in units. 4. Good sized pool compared to others we've seen in DTLA. 5. Nicely designed community areas. 6. Easy access to parking. Parking price included in rent. 7. Easy access to mailboxes. 8. Amazing gym, as the owner is a personal trainer. 9. Almost built a restaurant/market on-site. Wish that went through. It may still.. may still? 10. Urth Caffe right around the corner. 11. Gun Range next door! 12. Overall great artsy feeling. 13. Anthony. Insert Shout out to Anthony - He's the man who showed us around. He's amazing. He in himself was a huge selling point! We also got to meet the owner. Nice small community/neighborhood feel. Cons for me 1. Didn't really see many people in walking around the place. It was a Saturday afternoon and no one was using the pool or the community area. Made me feel lonely. 2. Really quiet community. 3. Views outside of windows aren't that great. 4. Didn't like driving up to the place. In the factory part of DTLA. Seems cool, but it felt lonely to me. 5. Refrigerators not provided. (small thing. really.) 6. Kind of pricey for what you get. (but I could also say that for all the lofts we've seen.) 7. Even though it's really not that far from DTLA and Little Tokyo, it seemed like it was.

They take care of the buildings and are on your side, a lot of people stay there for many years and I'm sure the management is a big part of that. The place is quiet and people who live there are nice and friendly. I worked from home and found it perfect for me. The area is great and getting better, never felt like the neighborhood was bad, and the secure parking is huge in downtown.

If you are just driving by you will miss this beautiful building composed of a ceramic mural. When visiting the gallery, Make sure you make your way to the back of the building, there, you will find a beautiful sculpture of the Virgen de Guadalupe made completely out of ceramic mosaics! Self Help showcases work from its Printmaking Atelier Program, which invites artists to spend a week creating limited-edition silkscreen prints with a master printer. It also offers youth-based art programs lead by local artists. They also have a great Day of the Dead celebration. From day of the dead sweet bread to sugar skull making, music, altars...the works! It's a great cultural experience. Some of their work is displayed in the Self Help gallery and gift shop. All of their stuff is reasonably priced.

While I love this place and really appreciate how it brings local art to the community, I have to…read moresay that in the last few years this place has suffered and declined. Though I guess that's to be expected with their budget being so demanding and their sources of revenue shrinking with every budget cut so far. I mean, how long has the exterior been working on. Then worse how they pretty much gutted a gallery for the potential of a cafe which never saw the light of day. It's all a bit sad when you think about how this place could bring the community together through art and offering some alternative to the kids on the street in an area that is high with crimes. But I believe it was a change of ownership that has really brought this place down. Even the festivals and events they throw seem to have been altered a great deal and not for the better. The Dia De Los Muertos festivities used to be one of my favorite things. Surpassing even the Hollywood Forever for actually having authentic appeal without pandering to the masses. Being big enough but intimate enough for you to feel it. Then they changed it around and tossed it over at a local park and the vendor booths seem to pop up every where and many of which sold nothing but items that perpetuate the Mexican stereotypes. As much as I don't like the direction it's going, I still have to give this place high marks because while it's not what it used to be, there's nothing else out there that comes close to providing what this does for the local impoverish east los angeles residents.
