An update to my previous review...there IS a Mrs. Cavanaugh's in North Salt Lake and it is closer. It's the factory and store front, and you can take a tour as well. I could be wrong but I think it's $5, with $4 of that going to the purchase of chocolates. I didn't have the time when I went out there for the tour, but likely will some time, though I have seen how chocolates are made (and have made my own by hand as well, and I like mine, too, recipes from a well-known gourmet, but I'd just as soon buy them here, and they're better than Sees, Cummings, V chocolates or any other local chocolatiers as well). So, my bad, you can indeed get Mrs. Cavanaugh's in North Salt Lake, an easy drive, almost entirely freeway if you like the beeline like I do, and I think Bountiful as well. Yea! read more

Great place, my daughter loves their ice cream! You can't beat the price, under $1.50 for kids ice cream Waffle Cones. Their chocolate is delicious and they always have seasonal chocolate gift boxes, great for birthday gifts etc. read more

Heard some good things about this place from a fellow foodie. So the fam ventured into this place for the first time. Never heard of this company before but we are always up for first time adventures. Pulled up today into the empty parking lot with the weather being over one hundred degrees. The lady who greeted us was warm, welcoming, and friendly. We really appreciated her knowledge with the history of the company and how it got started. We also were offered a few samples so we appreciated that. In addition, they also sell $2 ice cream scoops - they sell ice cream there. To our surprise, they also had bags of Carmel corn - that was stored in the small fridge. We actually make our family Carmel corn every Christmas holiday and it was a bit puzzling to us as to why theirs had to be stored in the fridge. We asked about this and she stated that it makes it lasts longer and it's crunchy (the Carmel) when it's cold. She did say the Carmel softens up when it's room temperature (but why would Carmel corn be chewy?!). I did taste the "Brittany Carmel" which is caramel and marshmallow, coated with dark chocolate. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. The milk chocolate truffle was OK. These chocolates are not as good as See's Candies in my opinion. However they do have a "sugarless" section of chocolates which was impressive as they cater to a broader audience. The customer service was fantastic, but the quality of these chocolates are lacking. read more

I am in NY and I usually purchase my candy from a NY merchant who is about 1 hour away from me. I usually buy in person but because of the pandemic I was going to order on line. However, for a 1 pound $18.00 box of chocolate they wanted to charge $18.00 shipping. That is nuts! So, I did an internet search for the specific item that I wanted and found this company. No decent (dark) chocolate candy is inexpensive and I knew that going in. This company had very decent reviews so I decided to give them a try. They are in Utah and I am in NY so I expected the shipping cost might be nasty, however, for a 2 pound purchase their shipping from Utah to NY was less than the 1 pound box from my usual - 1 hour away - company. The candy arrived today and OMG it was fantastic! I am a dark chocolate addict and this "stuff" was wonderful! Communication was great. Delivery (by Fedex) was very timely. Careful packaging so the candy arrived in great shape. As I wrote to them as feedback I am truly glad that I am not in Utah because if that were the case I would be eating so much of their candy I would end up needing my own zip code! Give the dark chocolate liquid filled cherries a try. You, too, will become addicted! read more

Dang. If you like above average chocolate and also like being treated like a child this is your place! I had plunked down over $250.00 in boxed chocolate. There were 25 boxes that needed to be wrapped. I paid & asked if I could pick them up the next day since it was going to be a while on the wrapping. The cashier said sure & off I went. Today I called before I came to make sure all the wrapping was done. It was, so I came to the store. A different cashier was there today. I told her I was here to pick up the 25 boxes of chocolates. Nothing was said to me other than, "Are these paid for? The girl last night didn't leave a note or anything." I was told "I'm going to have to trust you" when I told her they were paid for. I responded with "you'll need to get with your associate if your concerned." I then asked if all the boxes were there to which I get, "I don't know. I didn't wrap them." M'kay. I'm through with Sherlock by now. This is a cashier who looks like she's got some years under her belt. I was so taken by surprise. What middle aged gray-haired lady who calls ahead comes in to rip off 25 boxes of wrapped chocolate!? Please. Too bad the employees aren't as sweet as the chocolate. read more

Great chocolates just like my mom used to make. Cream fillings and dark chocolate are my favorites.

Oh. My. Goodness. Mrs. Cavanaugh's is amazing. First- Scoops of ice cream are $1.25 each right now. And this is premium ice cream, homemade. Some of the ice cream flavors have small bits of their chocolates mixed right in. Down the street, Baskin Robbins is selling theirs for about $2.75 a scoop. Second- Their chocolates are fantastic. Get a few, or get a box, you will be in heaven. My favorite is the cherry cordial. A little cheaper than the Sees at the mall. Third- They have this cute little area with tables and windows, nice to eat your ice cream with a friend. And the customer service is fantastic. I love you Mrs. Cavanaugh's! read more

I go here for the Chocolate Ice Cream that's $1.50 a cone and the chocolate. Deliciously good stuff. Not 5 stars because it isn't meant to be artisan chocolate. It's meant to be your local chocolate that's better than See's and Lindt but about on Par with Godiva. You have to get the chocolate ice cream though. Uses real chocolate pieces! read more

Yuck. We went here for my daughters birthday treat and I sooooo regret making the choice. It's dingy inside and has a weird vibe with young girls cleaning behind the counter and saying hello but not knowing how to help the customers. The ice cream was gross. The chocolates were sickeningly sweet. They did not know anything about the products themselves. I gave an extra star because they did eventually go the extra mile, kinda. I'm allergic to eggs and wanted to know if their chocolates had eggs in them. The older woman just kept saying "umm I don't think so" until finally she said she would call the owner and find out. The answer was no which was great but getting a simple answer like that should not be so difficult. I would never ever come here again. read more

I've been buying chocolates here for many years. We live in Boise Idaho and I come and get chocolates for my father in-law who in now 97. He eats and shares at least 2 boxes a month. Tried their ice cream in a waffle cone and it was awesome. Doesn't matter the flavor. The price is great. Friendly service as well. Like their chocolate too. Not sure what the other review is about from Diana. Businesses can not delete poor reviews. The intellectual property of reviews is owed by Yelp. How is this place still a secret? They've been at this location for three years and this is only the fifth Yelp review. You, my friends, have been missing out. We stumbled upon it quite randomly tonight and thought some ice cream sounded good. Were we in for a surprise! To begin, the service was excellent. The woman behind the counter was so patient and kind, even though it was time to close for the evening. She really kicked off the tone of the whole experience. The ice cream is incredible. So smooth and creamy, with several interesting flavors and a few classics for the unadventurous. The maple and the chocolate fudge ice cream flavors were well beyond expectations, loaded with chunks of Mrs. Cavanaugh's own fudge. This is definitely our new ice cream joint! read more

I live in San Diego and always stop at Mrs. Cavanaughs for chocolates when I visit my children in Utah. Mrs. Cavanaughs has always been my favorite. I went to the Orem store this time and was SO disappointed. I picked out a bag of assorted chocolates. Four of the chocolates were the wrong kind although I had been very specific. They were a fruity cherry which is about the only kind of chocolates I don't like. 3 of the soft center chocolates were hard as a rock ~ I literally couldn't bite them and threw them away. The bags she gave us split down the middle as soon as we got in the car. I think they are trying to cut corners - not worth it! read more

Their chocolate has such a rich flavor and they have a huge variety of chocolates.what I love about this place is that it doesn't have a commercial feel to it at all. I live out of town and laugh when people talk about how great Godiva is. Nothing compared to Mrs Cavanaugh's! I order them by mail every so often to get my fix. About half of my last order was wrong -- part of it was my fault and the other part theirs -- so they decided to replace the entire thing. Very helpful, and very kind. The atmosphere was super awkward. The employees just didn't know anything about customer service. One told me they were out of something that was on the shelf in front of her.
