This is by far the best gym I have ever been a part of! I have never been a big gym guy and normally loose interest within a few weeks. This gym is unlike anything I have ever experienced! All I do is have to show up and the coaches do the rest! I've been at MROC for about a year and a few months now and have never seen myself change so much. I came in because I had moved to North County here in San Diego and I was recommended this Ninja Warrior gym with tons of obstacles to learn. The truth is that I barely knew how to climb a rope and get over a six foot wall, let alone an eight foot wall. At this point I had already been getting into obstacle course races and had already signed up for my first Spartan race in January 2017. Not only that everyone around me at the gym was totally cheering me on. Now I've finished a Spartan Trifecta and thrown in a race here and there. Currently, I'm working on my own strength training so that way I can compete in Epic races endurance course and getting my core up to par so that I can only get better. The energy of the MROC family is the best. I love going here because there are so many positive vibes and to watch other people go through changes and get better along with myself, there's nothing like it. In the year that I've been there, I've also learned a ton about my own nutrition and have seen my body and mind change drastically. This isn't a gym that's just a gym. I call MROC a lifestyle because it's made me mindful of my day to day nutrition, my training, and the way I treat myself. In all this, my posture has even gotten better, my habits have changed drastically, and I finally treat my body as if it is a temple. Great group training facility and concept. Resembles a crossfit routine with the addition of obstacles. People of all shapes, sizes,colors and backgrounds. I started at MROC in January of 2016, my posture and form was absolutely horrible, and I was still suffering from side effects of a concussion. Certain movements or directional changes that were never an issue before, were something that I struggled with. No matter how many times it took me and no matter how frustrated I got with myself, Mike was always patient with me and thought of different ways to break down movements so I could comprehend. Before long I was lifting and training like I have never done before. I am proud to say that I have completed my first Trifecta, and with each race, bringing in a faster finish time and better results, including a burpee free Beast! My mile time has dropped from 11:45 down to 7:00 minutes flat in 9 months. I found this gem after I was attempting to look for a CrossFit gym close to home that could get me ready for a spartan race....the gym I was originally looking into had some questionable yelp reviews...thank goodness because it lead me to MROC!!! What a blessing! This gym has it all. The workouts are intense but doable for all levels...young and old (I am starting to fall in the old group ). Everyone is so welcoming. This gym truly ROCKS! I'm so glad to have found a gym/workout that works. Mike and the crew really know what they're doing. They have designed the workouts and the workout schedule to maximize results. Intense crosstraining workouts and then a testing week to measure progress. I've been going now for over a year and I've lowered my mile time by over 1 1/2 minutes (now under 6:30), have increased my back squat & dead lift by over 100 lbs each, and best of all, I've gone from being terrified of running a 5K to completing a Spartan race Trifecta (5 mile sprint, 8 mile super, & 13 mile beast) - and in the top 25%! Just got back from our company group event. We had a great time! As a group we have been planning to do a Spartan race for the first time. Melanie was our instructor and did a great job of teaching us, inspiring us, and pushing us with just the right amount of support. For 2hrs it really is a bargain for what they offer. It was quality time to spend outside of work together while have fun and pushing ourselves. The variety and time on each obstacle was just enough to give us a taste of what will be going on at the real race. They also set up a run at the end of the event to apply what we have learned. Really wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out great. Everyone has something different they can work on and they provide a safe environment to do that. I was really impressed how Melanie was so in touch with everyone in our group and new all our names even though this was the first time. I started training here to keep my National Guard physical fitness test scores up (they were starting to drop, especially my run). I wanted to wait a little bit to write this review to see how the training went, and now I've been training here for 6 weeks. My 1 mile run time has gone from 7:05 to 6:41, and I'm still improving every single class. I'm definitely stronger and faster than I was, and it's only been 6 weeks. I can't wait to see the gains I've made 6 months from now! The classes keep you interested by mixing up the exercises/activities, and the staff and members are friendly and keep the motivation level high. I really like the all around functional fitness that I'm developing here: cardio, muscular strength/endurance, agility, speed, balance, basically the works. They've got a ton of ninja warrior obstacles in the gym as well (the warp wall and salmon ladder among them of course), which is really cool too. If you are serious about getting in shape and you come here consistently, you will see big improvements in your fitness, there's no doubt about that. You'll also make some good friends, and become a more motivated and positive person in general. I would recommend this gym to anyone who has fitness goals they are ready to reach.
