This is only my third time here and I already feel so at home. I've taken Ashley and Rhianna every time because they were so amazing my first class and I don't like change lol. But they're so motivating and friendly and they make the class fun and lighthearted. I came from lagree which is similar to Pilates so I'm by no means very strong or a weights girl so I was super scared to come my first time and now I just laugh at myself and try anyways when I don't think I can do something! but I'm so excited to see how much I grow in strength by coming here! Even the other people who take the classes are also so kind. I feel like they might also work there or are regulars but even today other people in the class were helping me out and adding weights for me to push me ! So if they do work here then amazing because even when they're taking classes their looking out for people and if they don't then just speaks volumes for the vibe and how awesome everyone who comes here is! read more

I'm in love with F45- it's a 45 minute HIIT class. I'm not in great shape but I used to be 15 years ago and liked weight lifting in high school. I brought some people here with me but they weren't into it. You can try it for 7 days for free which is nice (if you are like me you can only use it twice in that week because you will be too sore to go everyday). Here's how it works- you sign up for class on the app. Show up 0-10 min before class. Basically you do a quick minute warm up. Then (and every class is different) you do an exercise for 45 seconds and then switch through a rotation. Everything is laid out with all different weights. Last class there were 12 stations and we did them each 3 times. There are tv screens with a model to show you the movement and a coach walking around to assist/correct. There are push weights and rowing machines there but they have never been in the classes I've been to - it's been all dumbbell, barbell, balls and kettle bells. It's great. Goes by fast and you do as many reps as you can at your own pace. I love it. For videos, check out Instagram. Bring a washcloth and water. They play loud music which is usually to my liking and have AC and fans (only 2 work though). Coaches have been great and attentive. I really enjoy going here and getting sore. I'm baaaack! After gaining some training/experience at OrangeTheory and learning the mechanics of the movements at a less chaotic pace, I can keep up now. Most of the time. The F in F45 stands for functional, but I think Frenzy is more accurate. It's time-based and you do as many reps as possible in the allotted time. The cadence changes with each workout, but sometimes the station time can be as little as 20 seconds with transitions as short as 10 seconds, so you're rushing from one station to the next, and if you're not sure what you're doing, you're basically not getting the full workout. Or worse, end up with bad form and injuries. But don't give up! The coaches are amazing and will help you out. Go to class 10-15 minutes early and study the movements on the screens, ask a coach for help before the class starts. Once it starts, the pace is usually too quick to do anything more than quick adjustments, especially on cardio or hybrid days. If you're new to this type of workout, I recommend starting with strength days (it will say on the app, but currently are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). Strength days usually have longer station times and transition times, so you can focus more on form and learning the movements. read more

I heard about F45 gyms and love to try a new workout so I was really excited when I heard a location was opening so close to my house in downtown Oceanside. I signed up for a free week promo that they had running and that was it! I was hooked! I tried a few of the different days to get a feel for the types of classes they offer. Some are cardio and some more strength focused. The workout is intense, efficient, and effective! Even after only one week and maybe 3 or 4 classes, I feel so much stronger. I also love that the workout changes daily and before I can even think about being tired, it's over. It challenges me in ways I would not typically challenge myself and I love a challenge! I love that the coaches like Anthony and Jesse really help to turn your workout up a notch while still making it fun. Everyone I have met through the gym are super friendly and encouraging of each other and really make you feel welcome.
