After running diagnostics, they did not find any transmission-related codes, but their technician drove the truck and confirmed the shuddering. Roman and I discussed my options, and I initially told him I wanted to take the truck home and think about it. He strongly emphasized that continuing to drive it could potentially cause additional damage. He then told me that his technicians would work overtime on Saturday (9/12) to pull the transmission and determine exactly what was wrong. Based on that conversation, I agreed to leave the truck. I was asked to pay $3,600 upfront for labor. At that point, the transmission had not even been removed, so I was unclear how the labor cost had already been determined. I was also told that the total cost for parts and labor should not exceed approximately $4,000-$5,000. I felt that was already a significant amount, but I trusted what I was being told and paid the $3,600. Saturday came and went, followed by Monday, and I received no update. I tried contacting the shop and eventually drove there myself. When I arrived, my truck had not even been worked on. I was given an explanation for the delay and was told it would be worked on Tuesday. Tuesday came and I still had not received an update, so I called. I was told a quote for the necessary parts was being put together. By Wednesday, 9/16, I still had not received an update, so I drove back to the shop. This time, I was told the repair was now going to exceed $7,500, and potentially reach $9,600 if the valve body kit also needed to be replaced. This was a major change from the original expectation of $4,000-$5,000. I questioned how a repair that was initially described as a rebuild that should not exceed $5,000 had now potentially nearly doubled in price. I even pointed out that I could potentially purchase a new transmission for what I was now being asked to spend on a rebuild. Roman assured me that the rebuild was still the cheaper option. At that point, I told him I needed my truck back. I was told that if I approved purchasing the parts, they could order everything and have the truck completed by Friday, 9/18. On Thursday morning, Roman texted me saying that he had all the parts and that they were doing the work. On Friday, I contacted Roman to confirm that everything was still on schedule so I could pay the remaining balance and pick up my truck. I received no response. I drove back to the shop for the third time, only to find my truck sitting in the exact same spot it had been in on Wednesday. I was then told that a part had come in late, which was especially frustrating because my last communication from Roman stated that he had all the parts. The most frustrating part of this experience has been the lack of consistent communication and the constant changes in what I was being told. The timeline, pricing, and explanations changed repeatedly, and I had to physically drive to the shop multiple times just to get information about my own vehicle. I cannot speak to the quality of the completed repair because, as of this review, my truck still has not been completed. However, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion and a detailed written estimate before authorizing major repairs here. I went into this expecting transparency and professionalism. Unfortunately, my experience left me seriously questioning the pricing, communication, and overall integrity of the process.

He was concerned and told me to be at his shop first thing the next morning. Left the car with him and he called me within an hour to tell me what the real issue was. Told me he could have the part within a few hours and I'd have my car back around lunchtime. He kept his word. He was honest, upfront and reasonable. My car now runs beautifully. For giggles, my husband called the dealership to get pricing for the same work and was quoted over 40% more and they would have my car for 2 days!!! It's hard to find an honest mechanic, so I challenge you to give Gann's a try. If I ever have any major issues in the future, I wouldn't think twice about using them.

He advised that I replace the engine immediately at a cost of over $5,000. He also told me the car was worth less than $2,000 and suggested I buy a new one. As a mom who had just been in a recent car accident, hearing that my car was "dangerous" was extremely stressful. I felt pressured and rushed into purchasing a new vehicle I hadn't planned on buying. Before selling my car, I decided to get a second opinion at CarMax. They found nothing wrong with the engine and ended up buying the car from me for $7,000. Being given incorrect information in that situation caused unnecessary stress and financial impact. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before accepting major repair advice from this shop. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this business.
