I went through with a full rebuild. The second I got the car back, I noticed the torque converter locking at very low RPMs in overdrive, bogging the engine down. A couple days later, the car started banging into drive and reverse, then started giving me back shots when it downshifted into 1st gear at stops. They told me it's the shift kit, even though the kit they used is supposed to solve jerks and clunks, but who am I to tell the techs. It didn't fix anything. The car still drives like bum and is honestly really annoying to drive. I also had a common bulkhead connector leak after the rebuild, which makes me question the entire rebuild. They told me to take it to the dealer, but seeing how Ford operates after a $200 diagnostic fee, it's not worth it. This shop charged me $4,500 for the rebuild, which is more expensive than other shops in the area. I chose them based on reviews. I'm giving 1 stars only because it hasn't blown up yet at 2.5k miles, but that's about it. They won't even tell me what torque converter brand is in the car, and they put the blame on anything as long as it's not the transmission. The invoice is extremely vague. I don't know if you should take your car here or not. There are different scenarios and models, so my outcome may not be like yours. Nothing is wrong with my differential or driveshaft. The car was silky smooth before the pump failure. These issues happened day one after the rebuild. I really really really really really really wouldn't recommend taking a car here For rebuild, it's literal garbage

A friend recommended Shields Auto Collision a few years ago when I was shopping around for an auto mechanic to give me a 2nd opinion after I received a crazy quote from my major auto dealer. The auto dealer service advisor insisted everything needed to be done right away with OEM parts. Shields did a complete evaluation, sorted out what needed to be done immediately and created a schedule of what could be done in a few weeks as my funds allowed. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time. Over a few months, they got me back on track and my vehicle was running like a dream. From that point forward, I go straight to Shields with any auto concerns - from brakes to oil change. I haven't been back to my major auto dealer. I would recommend Shields Auto Collision any day ! My family have been using Shields Auto Collision for approximately 10 years now. We have found him to be very HONEST, loyal, very direct (he tells it like it is,) customer driven and friendly. I just recently took my Lexus in for repair. I gave Mr. Shields a list of things that I thought that my car needed. Mr. Shields checked my car out and I did not need one half of what I thought that the car needed---HONESTY. I also feel that his charges for labor are very fair. His work is impeccable. My family has a Lexus, Nissan, and a VW Beetle and he provides services on all of our cars. We have no complaints and would highly recommend Shields for any of your car needs. First, he is so pleasant and easy going, and explains things, which I appreciate since it is not my area of expertise. Second, he navigates insurance really well. He is not on our provider list, but we totally trust him, so we use him anyway. We just tell our insurance that he is our choice, and he communicates with insurance about everything after that to get the work covered. Finally, the best part is that he does beautiful work. I was able to chat with several people, including one of the few seasoned fiberglass experts in the area, and was given a general ballpark. Once serious and decided, I returned to hand over the car and get a more tuned quote and timeline. During the next 12 weeks, the car's awful fiberglass body was given much needed TLC. Mike was in constant contact over phone and text message, providing status updates, pictures, and timeline updates. I'm very very pleased with the results and the price. It was not cheap (between $5k and $10k), but other shops were quoting $15k+. The difference might be that the other shops were only wanting to do a perfect, concourse-level job, and I was able to inform Sentry that this was unnecessary for my use case. I highly recommend Sentry to anyone with a car they truly care about, be it classic or modern. You won't pay an exorbitant price and will get very good results. I'm sure you can get better results if you ask and are willing to pay for the extra time.

Didn't hear the news we wanted (Hyundai with a bad transmission), but it was delivered with kindness and didn't charge us to keep the car there while we waited to arrange a tow to a buyer.
