$5 to add mushrooms to my seafood tofu soup lol
    Dat P.

Came in at 9:00 PM sharp. Two elder Korean ladies stared at me and my fiancé with googly eyes. I asked if everything was ok, and also asked if they were closed. They slowly said "we close at 10." I told them I'll do my best to eat fast. Ordered seafood tofu, seafood tofu with + galbi combo + steamed egg. I asked the lady to add mushrooms on the à la carte soup. She said there was an extra charge. I said no problem. And knowing how restaurants want to close out the register I told them to pay handing them my card. When I got back I saw the receipt and they charged me $5 for a few pieces of mushrooms. That's pretty crazy stuff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is how you lose business. Now I see why the place is so empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hello, had to review Mr. Tofu on Spring Mountain Road again. Been here so many times and always enjoyed the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is quite wide and not claustrophobic like some other Asian places.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wait staff friendly. Ordered their combination of Tofu soup (oyster only) and galbi. This came with 15 side dishes: seaweed, tofu skin, marinated peanuts, potato salad, potato squares, blanched veggies, etc. 16 if you include the fish they serve. The Tofu soup was delicious, especially with the raw egg you allow to cook in the pot. Gal I was also good. All the sides cleansed the palate after each bite. The price for both was around $ 33.00, not too bad for what you get. My reviews are tailored to my taste and some may not agree but I've never been disappointed here. I will definitely come back for some cold noodles next time....

We've been coming to Mr Tofu for years & it's our favorite Korean place. We've know our server for a long time & she's always smiling, friendly & respectful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also like that the place is big enough to host a large crowd but yet still feel not crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The unlimited 15 Bachans are always a delight. The selections, taste, quality are always above average & incomparable! The tofu soup & spicy noodles soup are always hot, flavorful & fresh. Their price points are just right with the quality & portion of their servings. Parking is easy.

After that Latin dance competition that year, we came back to LA the next day and took my mom there to eat. There were lots of side dishes, and everything was so delicious

It's definitely a solid place for Korean tofu pot! The side dishes are truly a bomb too! Not just because they give you whole bunch of them, the varieties and quality are great too! I'm pleasantly surprised to find they include a small fish for each person as part of the sides. For 2 people, we order: 1 regular tofu pot, and 1 meat + tofu pot combo. The meat in the combo set is a small plate. With what we ordered, we have more than enough to eat. The tofu pots are decent quality comparing to other restaurants. The service is quick and basic. After they drop off the food, they don't come back to check on you. Overall, I think it's a good value. I'll come back for sure.

Finally checked this place out and it was a good experience. We came a littler after 12noon on a Tuesday and were seated right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shortly after we arrived, about 4 other parties also came in, so it wasn't overly crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the combo items with soup: 1. marinaded beef and kim chi tofu soup 2. deep fried yellow croaker and comboination tofu soup. (menu said "boiled" but the waitress confirmed it would be deep fried) We were given some water and a pot of hot tea. While our main entrees were being prepared, they brought out the bonchan, about 15 items in small dishes, including two small deep fried fish, about the size of a sardine. It was fun to see the spread of bonchan, making the experience exciting. The main entrees came shortly after and then the soups with 2 bowls of rice. The soup was piping hot, so we cracked the eggs right into them right away. It was my first time eating the yellow croaker and I must say, I like mackerels better and that's just personal preference in aregards to fish. The marinaded beef was tender enough and both arrived on hot sizzling plates along with very hot bows if rice. Both were tasty. The tofu soup in a combo is a smaller size but still quite alot for 1 person esp when you have other bonchans to accompany your meals. It had alot of soft tofu and quite thick, which is nice cuz some places give you more broth and not enough "stuff" in it. Tasty but we have had better in terms of quality. But overall, the experience was nice and the waitstaff was courteous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Like many asian reataurants, you have to ignore seeing supplies right by the restrooms. They are quite an eye sore but it is very typical for asian restaurants, unfortunately[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. For about $29/person for the combo, it was ok. No frills, no wow factor other than the amount of bonchan they offer,

Mr. Tofu's seafood pancake, cold noodle soup, and tofu pot

My friends introduced us to Mr. Tofu. We were so impressed by the tapas Mr. Tofu provides. In other Korean restaurants, you can expect getting 4 to 8 tapas. Mr. Tofu gives you 15! Every one of them was delicious! We ordered the Tofu pots. They tasted very authentic, and were similar to other Korean restaurants. However, Mr. Tofu gives you a fried fish as part of the set. No other Korean restaurants that I've been to do that. The rice that came with the Tofu pot is so abundent that I can only finish half of it. A few weeks later, we took our out of town guests to Mr. Tofu again. We tried the seafood pancake. It was so delicious and packed with seafood and thick eggs. Our guests could not believe everything was so inexpensive. We will definitely go back again to try other dishes.

We were immediately seated as soon as we entered the restaurant. We order the combo which is a soup of your choice with a side of meat of that you choose. I ordered the vegetable soup with Galbi beef. It was delicious! While we waited for our food, the waitress brought out different sides which were: kimchi, cucumber, mashed potato, potato, a small piece of fish, peanuts, bean sprouts. It was a very filling meal. I look forward to coming back.

Food is always delicious here. Authentic Korean food with 15 banchan sides that I love. The same Asian ladies have worked here for a while. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a casual place and this restaurant has been here for a while.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is not AYCE type of Korean restaurant. Everything is ala carte. I've been here a few times and I usually get the same items. My friend usually gets other items. It is the only place I know of in Chinatown that has so many banchan sides.

    Eric K.

They served 15 different tasty Korean side dishes, each in tiny little plates with just a small, cute portion. The seafood soft tofu stew was perfectly seasoned -- not too salty, just right. The marinated crab combo was generous in portion and delicious, especially for the price. Honestly, it was even better than what we've had in LA. They really nailed everything here. And the service? Absolutely no need to explain -- they were fantastic. Highly recommend this place!

    Not good soup.

I wanted to like this place. The staff is friendly, and they give you plenty of side dishes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the beef and seafood combination, and my friend got the beef and tofu combination. Both soups tasted like alphabet soup you'd eat as a kid, bland, lacking spice, and just not good overall. This place has gone through several owners over the years. The original owner, many years ago, was incredible, the food was outstanding. Sadly, that's no longer the case. I hate to say it, but I won't be coming back. This experience was beyond disappointing. Honestly, places like Greenland's food court serve much better tofu soup for about half the price.

    Susan H.

This restaurant boasts 15 free and refillable banchan, and I loooove banchan, so it was easy choice to make to dine here. Coming from the Strip we were starving, and there was no wait when we got there. My bf got the galbi + tofu soup combo, and I got the vegetable tofu soup. The combo meal is a full tofu soup serving and I'd say probably 2 pieces of cut up galbi on a hot plate. The food was good, maybe lacking in flavor a little bit, but not worth complaining about. I got mine extra spicy, and it was spicy but not making my nose runny kind of spicy. The banchan delivered! It's a good mix of seafood banchan and vegetable dishes, with one of them being a little whole fried fish. Got our refills of our favorites, and overall a satisfying meal. Service could be a bit more attentive. I was standing at the front to pay for a few minutes but both workers weren't around and I could see kitchen staff staring at me lol.

SIDE DISH HEAVEN! My party of 5 visited without any prior research; we were very surprised to see 15 side dishes and a fried fish per person. The side dishes are delicious and I especially enjoyed the kelp and pickled radishes. We each ordered a mix of tofu soups and grilled meats, which come in a combo. Although the price seems high, I think it's appropriate since they give so many "freebies." I loved my intestine tofu soup. They were very generous with the tofu and many of us had leftovers afterwards. We also ordered a seafood pancake which was good! The service here isn't the best. There were a couple of large tables that showed up after us, and we had to constantly flag down the employees just to get water. The service charge was also included in our check.

The taste and value is really great, actually. If you are looking for your "halmoni's" (grandma in Korean) authentic, homemade, caring, handmade flavors and can ignore the no-frills, don't -care, terrible location and zero curbside appeal, this is your place. Imagine going to an old neighborhood Korean home where the kimchee to the broths and banchan are made with love. The scissors are sharp so you can easily cut the perfectly fermented, primly pickled kimchee and the cucumbers (oi kimchee) are fresh and the beef broth deeply steeped and rich with flavor. Plus it's an absolute bargain for what you get. I think we ordered almost one of everything (for just the three of us) just to taste it. The naengmyun (cold noodles) were fine. Not exceptional, but decent. The saam and chive pancake was very good. Value is high, taste is high; authenticity very high. Huge portions in today's world of cutting back. But I feel fortunate to find a "go-to" for my korean cravings. Like walking into my auntie's house for some warm, deeply comforting, home-cooked k-meal. Craving the dogani bone broth soup now!! (Would have taken photos but it would have hard to judge based on photos alone. This is a place you have to go to just to taste it, not look at it).

Let's get back to the review Now lean in so I can tell y'all about this broth. It tasted authentic to me. It was rich, velvety, silky smooth, creamy without being heavy, and bursting with savory goodness. Every sip had me closing my eyes The noodles had the perfect bite--not too soft and not too firm. The pork belly was tender, flavorful, and had just the right amount of char around the edges. And those eggs? Whew! Perfectly jammy with that beautiful golden yolk. The former Rite Aid pharmacy that once stood in its place has never looked better and features a cool curated mix of Japanese and Korean-inspired concepts. Market Green Table and Tiger Go Go managed to replace GT Poke and HoHo Crunch earlier this year, and thank goodness. Market Green Table has some of the most creative renditions of musubi and is my favorite of all that I've tried so far. Smile Shota is the most intriguing at the moment, which offers all you can eat sushi throughout the day and even has a late night AYCE special ($25 for now). If there is any knock on the place is that it's small enough to present some major challenges during their busiest times: crowd flow, seating, and especially parking.
