We tried this spot for the first time this afternoon after my husband came across them on Uber Eats. As a couple, we have been into halal dishes after having tons of them while visiting Dubai twice. We enjoyed the chicken and beef shawarma plate. It was fresh and flavorful. The service was awesome! The lady (forgot to ask for her name) was very kind and accommodating to us. She answered all our questions and did not rush us into ordering. There was another staff there as well, and he was nice and respectful. The restaurant was squeaky clean and had a grade A on their door. It was spacious, no flies around, and smelled good. We will be coming back to try their other dishes for sure!

The first ever shawarma for me! I didn't know what to order, but the young lady at the counter was kind and helpful. The place has a few small tables, but is more like a takeout place. We had a chicken shawarma and a Habibi burger. The food quality was good. The shawarma was a lot of food and I could eat only half of it. My hubby liked his burger. The only thing for me was that I did not care for the cinnamon or nutmeg spices in the chicken shawarma. It was the kind of mediterranean food that used cinnamon for flavor. A little different flavor palette. It might be just their shawarma flavoring, and their kebabs might have different flavoring, which I didn't try this time, so I don't know. Overall the chicken shawarma was OK, a bit heavy with french fries wrapped together inside. I wish it was not cut up and served as one big piece like a burrito since the cut up pieces were falling apart as I ate. We also tried a couple of small walnut baklavas. They were a bit soggy and disappointing.

The servings are HUGE, really huge. The chicken shawarma had nine generous portions It was not to spicy and very moist The beef and lamb shawarma had very little flavour. The winner here is the chicken

Mr Shawarma offers HALAL Mediterranean cuisine with a choice of shawarmas (chicken, beef, lamb), burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, plates, bowls, bbq plates (kababs, chicken tikka, beef tikka), sides (hummus, eggplant, tabouleh, dolma, falafel, wings), and desserts (baklava and tres leches). I ordered 2 kebabs a la carte - (beef & lamb kebab ($6) ) and the (chicken kebab ($5)). Both meats were tender and juicy and were of the ground meat variety. They each had a lot of flavor. Mr shawarma rice ($18) - This came with rice, side salad, hummus and a choice of protein. My friend went with beef shawarma and it was juicy and flavorful. What really impressed me about his dish was how flavorful and aromatic the rice was. You could it was infused with cardamon, cinnamon, saffron, and other spices. Overall I was impressed with the quantity as well as quality of meats here. Everything tasted great, and the menu is extensive with so many options. Service was extremely friendly, and I look forwarding to visiting again when I'm in the area.

Honestly, this place was underwhelming and honestly very disappointing for $50 in the meal was not that great. For starters I had ordered a plate and the chicken and steak with fries and I asked for a salad on the side. They didn't give me the fries and the salad is 90% tomatoes and has these huge hearts from the Romaine in it so I just wasn't really a fan. I called the restaurant three times in a row and I got home because I also asked them first sides only the guy basically told me that he put everything in the bag so he didn't give me any extra so then when I got home, we only had three sauces for both of our meals and it was a lot of food. And he didn't include the tahini or any of the other things that he said was in the bag. The service was nice and the sense that they were friendly, but my order was completely wrong, it was cold and it didn't taste good. The meat was tough and dry. We honestly didn't even finish it. It's really disappointing because I don't eat out often and I was willing to try a new Mediterranean place because everywhere else was closed and I'll probably never come back. The food definitely looks better than it tastes. And like I said when you try a new place, you have high hopes and expectations and everything about this place wasn't good. They didn't have ice. The meat had no flavor even the olives tasted like nothing. When normally when the food doesn't taste that great you can make it up by having sauces when I didn't have enough. I have tried Mediterranean food all throughout San Diego. It's one of my favorites and it's very rare for me to eat Mediterranean food and not like the experience, but I was highly disappointed. The people were nice but the food was not and I mean at the end of the day that's why we come. Maybe he didn't understand my order but either way I'm not a fan. I even waited between calling-- and I tried a sixth time on my mom's phone because I got food for me and her for Easter Sunday because we didn't feel like cooking. And they didn't answer on her phone either.

Mr Sharwarma is a good place finding authentic shawarma wraps, plates, or bowels. We came here for lunch and were glad we found the place. I had their beef and lamp shawarma wrap. It's not bad! I like the wrap to be authentic that it's cut and has additional sauce on the side. We also had their chicken shawarma bowl; the garlic flavored sauce was excellent with the bowl. I can see why it's a popular place!

I walked in on a Thursday evening after work and it wasn't busy. I ordered for take out and waited no more 15 mins. I ordered the beef and lamb shawarma that came in a wrap with a side of tzatziki sauce. The meat was juicy and had so much flavor. You can order a drink and fries to make it a combo. I also tried the baklava with pistachio and chocolate. Everything was so good and filling. The prices are great for the portions they serve, I'll definitely be back. They have a tv and music playing for those that dine in. Plenty of parking since it wasn't busy.

Definitely coming here again. Came here with buddies, and got a little bit of everything. Started things off with kabob platter and it was inane! We shared 2 beef kabobs, 2 skewers of chicken tikka, and chicken kabob. My favorite item was the lemon cilantro beef shawarma wrap( must try ! ). We also shared their shawarma fries half beef and half chicken . We love hot dogs and their halal hot dog was so yummy came with toppings I love. Their food is 100% halal. The restaurant was clean and service was great. Can't wait to come back !

Cute little shop with good prices, but the customer service here is excellent! The cashier (Hakam) could tell I was struggling with options so just said, "I got you!" And pretty much put my bowl together for me :) Really flavorful food, and super healthy so you don't feel guilty haha I took it to the park down the street to enjoy a perfect Spring Day Update: I literally had to go back to the shop because Hakam had given me a dessert with my order, and I didn't even know what it was at first. Their baklava is perfectly crispy and soft at the same time, with chocolate and pistachio (I think) it was such an excellent complement to the flavors of the meal and rounded it out beautifully

My husband and I came here for our weekend cheat meal, and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the shish tawouk plate, which came with flavorful rice, pita, hummus, and a fresh side salad. We also tried the chicken shawarma, served with salad and garlic sauce on the side. Everything was delicious and tasted like authentic Middle Eastern food (I lived in Dubai for 10 years, so I can vouch for it!)

Great addition to San Marcos, especially for a later night option. Mr. Shawarma opened up about three weeks ago and they are still tweaking the hours, but they stayed open until 10pm the night we were there. Service was friendly and quick. We had the beef/lamb shawarma with seasoned fries and the chicken shawarma. The plates come with sauce and pickled vegetables. It all tasted great! The baklava was delicious too! They have multiple locations in San Diego. So just be aware that the online menu is slightly different from the San Marcos location's menu. When ordering the signature shawarma, it was a bit confusing that the description includes fries, but you actually have to add on the fries for $3. The restaurant is simple, but functional. The high ceilings and wide aisles make it feel spacious. Overall, food was highly enjoyable, and we will be back! read more

I wanted so badly to like this place. I wanted to support local businesses... but this place was a big disappointment. Started off with the guy at the register. We walked in and he didn't greet us, but instead he looked pissed off. We were the only customers in the place.. so who knows what he was mad about. I got my order anyway, had it for take out. I was looking forward to some good chicken shwarma and rice... it would be like comfort food for me. But it was not good at all. The chicken tasted old, cause it was super dry, the rice tasted like Mexican rice.. the flavors were so weird and so off. So... this was my first and last time eating there. read more

I ordered two bowls online and went to pick them up. The computers had been down so they didn't get the order. Not their fault of course. So I showed them my receipt and they set off to prepare them. They did try, I must say, but the order was all wrong! By the time I'd waited an extra half hour and driven home we didn't want to return them! The food wasn't great either. I'd give it a C- at best. Mr. Shawarma's food is consistently good. I like the chicken and beef/lamb, so I usually get the Double Trouble! The baklava is an absolute must as well. They have a few varieties - my favorite is the chocolate version! Finally, the staff are always friendly and generous with food proportions. This place was amazing. Considering the fact that we came very late, close to closing time for them, we still received amazing customer service from the two guys working by themselves basically (sorry I didn't pick up your names). Unfortunately, they were out of their chicken which is acclaimed as their best, but we ordered the rice shawarma plate and habibi burger. The rice shawarma plate itself was filling enough by itself, especially with the prices tied to the dishes, but either way everything tasted delicious regardless. I'd say personally my top go-to mediterranean place now. We WILL be coming back here! Big thank you to the guys who were working tonight, wonderful first experience for us. read more

The girl running the counter was very pleasant, food was ready on time, and everything was good to very good. I liked the seasoning on the meat quite a bit (and the large portions) and the sauces were great. Salads were good and had a sweet tangy dressing. My group's only complaint is that the saj bread was cut a little funny on one wrap and that there should be more pickles on the side. Will definitely be a repeat visit. read more

I wanted to like this place, for I have been searching for good falafel for decades and they are close by. To start, the portions are large, and they make their falafel as ordered. It was better than most places that I have tried. The problem was it took forever to get my food. There must have been six people in front of me, all sitting, waiting for their orders. I sat waiting for over half an hour. Luckily, I was not in a hurry. The salad was drenched with dressing, so much that it was soggy and not very appealing visually and taste-wise. On the flip side, they did not include enough tahini sauce for the falafel. I sat there thinking maybe all the negatives were happening since they just opened. Hopefully they can work out the kinks and get a lighter hand as it relates to their salad. I'll probably try them again in a few weeks to see if things run smoother. read more

Absolutely insane the meat is amazingly seasoned, the quality of the bread top tier! Everything is good we have ordered twice and they have not missed. I am so beyond happy we have a location in north San Diego now! Definitely make a trip the quality is 10/10 I can't wait to see this place do amazing. Wow this place is going to be my new go to! Not only was the food amazing but the customer service was top notch! Also, the location was very clean, basically spotless I felt like I could eat straight off the table! As for food, my friend and I both ordered the lemon cilantro beef shawarma wrap and shared the chicken Mr Shawarma fries - the beef shawarma was cooked to perfection, it was tender and perfectly spiced. The chicken shawarma was also amazing, it was juicy and flavorful! Best shawarma in town and I cannot wait to take all my friends and family here! This place sucks!!! Only one person working unable to handle the work load of cooking and taking orders, watched multiple people walk in and walk out scoffing because they weren't being helped. I myself waited for him to place order then watched two other people place orders after mine. And walk out with food while I waited another 15 minutes. While eating I watched the owner come back and start to train the employee who was left alone. What kind of place is this!!!!! read more

Absolutely delicious. I ate everything, even the dessert they gifted us for stopping by during their soft opening today - and I don't even like desserts! I had the Double Trouble, which they recommend for first time customers, and am totally impressed. The meat is savory and flavorful, not too greasy, well cooked. I ordered with the salad, which was topped with fresh herbs, bright and flavorful, a perfect complement to the meat. Did I mention the pickled veggies? They served the dish with a collection of pickles, a nice acidic bite to cut the rich meat. I am stuffed, excited to explore their menu, and so happy they've opened in the neighborhood. Got a falafel for lunch here today. The service was excellent, however the falafel was so salty I couldn't finish it. I had a side salad and it was over dressed and soggy. I didn't expect the salad dressing to be spicy. I wish they would note that, I would have gotten dressing in the side. Won't be going back. read more

I stopped by for dinner with some friends. The staff was very friendly and the food was exquisite! I ordered the chicken shawarma and it was the most authentic food you could have in SoCal closest to home! If you haven't tried it yet I'd highly recommend it. They have a lot of different options as well which i'll be coming back to try more of the menu. read more

The good: Friendly Staff and location is close to our home The bad: Food was just okay. The first time we came they ran out of everything by 8pm and all they had was their chicken shawarma. They were very apologetic and two other groups came after me and one of them ended up leaving. The second time I came I got the bowl with salad and chicken and it was just ok. I was drenched in the sauce. I got the cheeseburger for my son, but they left off the cheese and the waffle fries were soggy :( I really really wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately for the price that we paid and the quality of the food just didn't make the cut. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be coming back. I wish them luck since I know they just opened up. read more

What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.
