We had a sewer line clog that's been on-and off for years (125-year-old house). Mr. Rooter - our long-time drain go-to service - diagnosed a very complex set of sewer and storm drain pipes, found our issue, and used 'pipe lining' to avoid removing a 100-year old tree. They also found a major root ball in the street sewer line and got the City of Portland out to correct a properly-installed city sewer line (tearing up the street et al). The entire team at Mr. Rooter Portland, from the front office to supervisor and dig crew, were fantastic, friendly, and made several trips to make sure all was completed perfectly. Tech came out for a blocked drain, within an hour of being called. Cleared blockage quickly and efficiently. Same drain blocked again that evening. Techs we're out again quickly the next morning. This time there was a rat (drowned) in the drain! Techs could have legitimately charged for the second call since it was unrelated to the first episode, but charged us nothing " because we were just here yesterday! BEWARE! Mr. Rooter came out for a backed up kitchen drain. Didn't fix the problem but got their snake stuck in the drain. For $473 bill the drain was worse off than before. Decided problem was the pipe needed to be redirected in the crawl space. The estimate was $7,800. It would take 1-2 days to do the job. Fortunately a family member had another plumber they had used with great results. They came up with the same correction to the problem. Estimate: $3,000. Job was done yesterday in under 3 hours. read more

Totally impressed with their ability to respond to my emergency situation within three hours. Others That I had contacted first said they were out 3 to 6 weeks. A very nice pleasant Mr. Rooter gentleman showed up ready to go to work. He did the evaluation of the situation, explained to me what needed to be done and give an estimate of the cost for the work to be done and then set to work immediately. He was done within about an hour and a half which I thought was remarkable. He also Was exact as to the estimated cost and completely cleaned up the area so you would hardly know he was there and double checked both toilets to be sure they were properly operating. George came out and cleared my rain drain at the start of the rainy season. My driveway had flooded with the first big rain. He did excellent work, and was knowledgeable about what he might be up against with my particular drain pipe. He also let me know that it might not be fixable, so he let me know the risks in advance. He told me the price to run his camera in and find out, along with a pressure spray, and I felt that was a good risk. He ultimately was able to clear the clog, and also let me know that my pipes will need to be replaced at some point because they were caving in about 50 feet from the mouth of the drain. Overall it was an excellent service. It's never cheap to get the drains unclogged, but it's a lot cheaper than the hassle and stress of having a flooded garage! Five stars. read more

I have a regular guy for plumbing issues but had a clog that needed immediate attention so I called Mr Rooter as I see these trucks in the neighborhood often. Pros- called and they said 1 Hour. Plumber show up almost exactly at 1 Hour (under). Fixed issue in about an hour. Plumber was a very friendly guy that offered good advice to avoid this on the future. Cons- price to unclog the pipes from my kitchen was upwards to $350. Definitely higher that averages I was seeing online ($150-200). But that wasn't my big issue. I could have swallowed that high price - it was the mess. I mean half assed on cleaning up - there was brackish pipe water splashed everywhere that wasn't touched and the areas he did clean was pretty lousy. Wed been chatting so I didn't look too closely until he left. I had to scrub because you know that black water is filled with crap and junk and stuff. Had he cleaned 80% up this would have been a 3.5-4 review. I have to wash a curtain that got splashed a ton which will be a pain in the ass to take down. read more

Toilet clogged, called Mr. Rooter the technician came unclogged the toilet. Tried to sell me a new toilet if the toilet keeps plugging up. Technician was telling me if anyone has had surgery or on new medications it will cause your toilet to clog, will I'm not buying it, I called the doctors office and they never heard of that. NEXT DAY the toilet backs up, within 24 hours called Mr. Rooter and they state because technician says if backs up agian replace toilet they want to charge me agian $216.81+ $ 1,500+ to replace toilet and some other additional parts to come out and snake agian!!! Our tub was clogged and unable to drain. We tried to DIY, but ended up needing someone to come out and inspect it. We called Mr. Rooter, and Jorden was quick to tell us Brad would be there within the hour. He arrived within 20 minutes and finished the job quickly! He gave us a lot of great info of how we can take better care and maintain our pipes. He used a great oil change analogy that really clicked with my boyfriend who works in the automotive industry. I have a newfound appreciation for good plumbers. Visited my dad up in Milwaukie for the holiday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend our major drain line from upstairs to downstairs was totally plugged so we couldn't use our sinks or showers at all without it all draining into our basement! Of course this all came to be at almost 7:30 pm! First called a different company who said they had a 4 hour window and would get back to us. Desperate, we called Mr. Rooter who let us know that a technician would call us back. I left to go get something to eat and by the time I came back Mr. Rooter was at my house with my dad! He was courteous, efficient, and got the job done! Price was VERY reasonable for being later in the evening on a (holiday) weekend. It's just after 9 pm now and he just left. Update: After numerous calls to Mr. Rooter requesting for the work to be completed and approved by the city, the approval was gained on March 22nd, 2019. Almost 4 months since the work began. We purchased a new home that needed sewer work back in February 15th 2019. Mr. Rooter came in and did the work prior to our move, completed the sidewalk restoration, but never followed up with the city to get the final approval. After following up multiple times over the course of two months, they finally scheduled for the inspector to come in. The city stated that the sidewalk was not meeting their standard and they had to redo it to get their approval. Fast forward 2.5 months, on May 3rd, they came to take out the sidewalk. We've followed up multiple times, have not heard back, and still don't have a timeline of when the work will be fully completed and approved by the city. It's been 3 months - this is unacceptable! read more

I was in the middle of a bathroom remodel on a Sunday afternoon, when a plumbing emergency struck (well, TWO emergencies). Not the best day of the week to have a plumber come out, especially last minute. Every open business turned me down, except Mr Rooter. Tucker (I believe) showed up about a half hour later, diagnosed the issues, gave me an estimate, and went to work. He was awesome, and a total life saver. Because of Mr Rooter, we were able to turn the main water line back on, and now we can install the new toilet. They said they could be there by 5, but we weren't able to be home in time so we postponed to another day. We felt really appreciative how quickly they responded by phone and how great their communication was throughout the scheduling process. Our tub started to drain super slow again about a month after Brad's visit. I called Mr. Rooter again because they had just been out and Rose called me within an hour (at 7am mind you!) and got me scheduled within my timeline. Brad came to the house within the appointment window, and quickly discovered a Matchbox car which had recently dislodged and was blocking my drain!!!! He fixed it up and didn't charge me a dime!!! He also took the time to scope my sewer line and recommended that Brian come out for an assessment. I called and got that appointment scheduled within a week too!! We called on a Friday to get a same day appointment after noticing a smell coming from our bathroom since suddenly. We were charged $200 for the plumber to show up (this is more than it costs to see a physician or dentist for an exam!) the plumber did nothing but look with a flashlight and run the water. He recommended some "enzyme" cleaner for $80 dollars that was supposed to fix our problem. After a confusing conversation about things that didn't apply to the problem - we got this cleaner and the plumber left. We used this cleaner 3 times and is had not fixed our problem. Sooooo... now what? I asked the plumber what to do if this didn't work.... he didn't have an answer. Hmmmm. I'll call again *Update 8/30/19* We had a return visit today by Kevin. He spent a lot of time trying to assess our problem that seems slightly improved but still intermittently present since our first visit. He did a thorough inspection, appeared interested in trying to help and was a good communicator. He cleaned out our drain of the sink and inspected the pipes in question with a camera. Although he did not find any new problems (thankfully), I feel like my money was better spent than our original visit and no longer feel taken advantage of. We have had a couple conversations with the office staff and everyone has been helpful. read more

I've hired Mr. Rooter of Portland a few times. The first time was years ago when I lived in a manufactured home and regular plumbers would touch these homes and they were a blessing then. Just last week I need them again,this time for a standard home, and they came and replaced my garbage disposal for a reasonable cost. Then checked all bathrooms, laundry room, and kitchen plumbing for free. Answering all questions with respect (no talking down because I'm female and/or lack of experience with plumbing), and they gave me great info on how to keep my pipes cleaner too! I was so impressed with the customer serves both these men gave me, again on the care, service, respect they give the home owner. I won't use any one else! They were honest with me on pricing (as I looked around for cost of garbage disposals), they cleaned up after themselves leaving everything as I originally had it. I'll say it again, I won't use anyone else! You can't beat the customer service; for example they called and let me know they were going to be slightly delayed and then again when they were about 15 minutes away. OVER-CHARGES! Oh wow, do they over-charge. They are quick and responsive. Joseph seemed perfectly nice when he arrived just 30 minutes after my Monday morning call. However, he quoted us $430.33 to clear the drain for our washing machine, or $314.45 "just" to cable it (an option he implied was much inferior). This is a service that will cost you $150-170 from lots of other local plumbers. I mentioned this quote to a couple other plumbers I called (after sending Joseph away) and one of them sighed and said: "sad thing is ... some people will actually pay that." read more
