You can tell he genuinely cares about the customers and takes pride in his service. His energy and professionalism made the whole visit feel smooth and enjoyable. Definitely recommend this spot, especially if Yair is your server!

The service was pretty good with them checking on us but when it came to time for the check, our server got really busy so we had to flag him down. All in all, the prices were fair, our food was fresh and staff were super friendly which made this restaurant a hidden gem that we discovered.

It almost reminded me of restaurants I'd frequent on holiday in Zanzibar before moving to the US. The shrimp ceviche is fresh and wonderfully balanced but the star of the evening was the lobster thermidor. I grew up eating lobster thermidor in Tanzania and this is one of the best I have had outside of my home country. Paired with rice and some fresh fries brought back memories. To put it plainly, it is sublime. Rafael is awesome and his hospitality is an art form. This is officially my go to spot on every Puerto Vallarta layover.

The Tuna Tartar…read moreTostada was a creamy mixture of cubed raw tuna with Dijon, mayo, chiltepin, tomato, red onion, nori, and peanuts. The Ceviche Yelapa was a simple but refreshing mixture of shrimp, octopus, red onion, tomato, cucumber, cilantro, avocado, and lime juice. The Black Aguachile was a beautifully-plated dish of raw shrimp layered with a spicy black sauce made of chargrilled habanero and soy sauce, but the sauce was way too salty and overwhelming in flavor. One of my favorite dishes was the Octopus Chicharron Tacos, made of crispy deep-fried pieces of octopus, served with guacamole, lettuce, and habanero mayonnaise on blue corn tortillas. The tacos had a nice combination of crispy, salty octopus with creamy guacamole and spicy habanero mayo. From the cooked dishes on the menu, we got the Grilled Octopus, a small whole octopus marinated and grilled in Yucatán recado and served with sweet potato chips, salad, and a creamy banana pepper and tomato sauce; as well as the Catch of the Day, a thick filet of mahi mahi topped with ajillo (a non-spicy pepper with a citrus flavor), and served with mashed potatoes, salad, and buttered vegetables on the side. Overall, the creative dishes here were all tasty (though I wasn't a fan of the overly salty black aguachile), and the atmosphere and service were casual and no-frills.

It was very pleasant while we were there. We ordered our cocktails. The berry margarita was presented very nicely but the flavor was missing some kick and wasn't overly special. For our meal we shared the ceviche Yelapa, combo shrimp and octopus. It was very large and tasty. It could have used more avocado, cilantro, and also needed a bit more lime flavor. We ordered shrimp pastor and the octopus chicharron tacos, shrimp and steak burrito, and the La Blondie tostada. The octopus was the best. Unfortunately the blondie didn't meet our expectations. There was definitely a spicy kick to everything and the accompanying salsa was extra spicy as well. Overall, I can recommend this based on the great menu and decent food preparation, but it honestly wasn't my favorite of many other options in PV. One thing that bothered me a bit were the two hawkers selling their wares. They were harmless, but it was less than desirable to experience that.

One of their most iconic dishes was El Kraken, a whole small octopus, grilled and served with potatoes and tzatziki. From the taco menu, the Tres con Todo were three "tuna al pastor" tacos made of cubes of tuna with pineapple, sprouts, radish, and creamy avocado on two fried tacos--creative, but nothing too outstanding flavorwise. We continued with the Pal'Mito salad, made of hearts of palm, sundried tomatoes, avocado, spinach, bacon, and seared tuna. The Churrasco de Salmon was a perfectly tender salmon filet topped with a cream sauce and served with plantain puree and grilled corn on the cob. Finally, the Pesca del Dia was a fillet of snapper topped with mussels in pesto sauce and served over plantain puree--super tasty, though the pesto definitely overwhelmed any other flavors in this dish. Overall, the food here was all delicious and beautifully plated. The flavors were bold, the prices reasonable, and the service was super friendly too!

We took a 20 minute Uber ride to have a beach day outside of zona Romantica where we were staying. We decided to leave because we were hungry and realized that one of the restaurants we bookmarked was just a 10 minute walk and decided to check it out. We were there celebrating a special birthday so we wanted to have one nice dinner and this is the place we chose. We got there around 5 PM and we were the only ones there on a Saturday but it was off-season (Aug) so PV in general was pretty quiet. We were welcome by a friendly man who took us to the top floor with a mountain beautiful view which actually was a nice change from the ocean. The greenery was beautiful. This restaurant is known for their seafood and boy was it fresh. They don't have a specific menu, but rather they bring out a tray of their fresh selection of the day. Oh, and I have to make a point of mentioning their margaritas. Fresh fruit margaritas... So yummy. We tried the mango margarita with fresh mangoes and strawberry margarita as well. I just love drinks made with fresh fruits. I think it was my favorite margarita of the entire trip. I do highly recommend you check this place out. The food is phenomenal and the service is wonderful. The 20 minute Uber ride cost about US$15 so well worth it, especially if you do a beach day and make a day of it.
