The refinishing work was mediocre, with an overly thick lacquer finish and visible bumps. He brought the chairs back without the seats and then became extremely difficult to reach. After more than a week of no response, my husband called from a different number and John returned the call within minutes. Eventually, I had to retrieve my remaining chairs myself from outside his storage trailer, and I picked up the seats directly from the upholstery shop. I then had to pay the upholsterer over $1,000 additional out of pocket to complete the seats. We then had to spend hours reassembling all of the furniture ourselves. Unfortunately, I had already paid John in full, including $600 for upholstery work. He also lost the hardware for my antique chairs and never finished the dining set as agreed. I requested a refund for the upholstery portion through Venmo, but he declined the request. The entire ordeal lasted about five months and cost me an additional $1,000 to resolve. I would not use this contractor again.

He will also tell you he's coming back in a few weeks to finish what needs to be done but never shows up. Sure, he'll text you and say he's sorry he didn't make it out as promised but he's definitely coming next week. Good luck getting him to honor any warranty he gives you.
