3.5 stars, better than average, Mr. Ramen is no slouch. Ramen Combination #6 - $16.95 which consists of your choice of Ramen & Gyoza (4pcs) & Small Side of Curry Rice Diet Coke - $2.50 Good rice, good soup, it hit the spot but it didn't knock my socks off. You know what I mean? Solid recommendation from my friend, Mike M. Warning that most everything contains or is cooked in sesame oils and seed oils. Our server Julian was attentive, he noticed that we needed hot sauce without asking! He brought sauce, oil, and powdered chilis. He entertained my questions about what/who is the Mr. Ramen logo (it's not a penguin or frog) and hipped me to some shoegaze music I hadn't heard. They had a wicked sick shoegaze playlist blasting out over the store speakers.

Mr. Ramen... to me and my husband, that means our Ramen home. Mr. Ramen has always had fantastic food and fantastic service. The atmosphere of Mr. Man has always been amazing to us. This trip was our first trip after about 5 to 6 years, we got so busy and couldn't make it back, and I can only say I am glad I came back to partake in some more delicious Ramen. This was also the first ramen I ever had, back when they had more napkin art on the walls, and it is so good. Our friends said that this place is mid at best and to me they have no good taste. One of the servers said that the recipes had changed just a little over the years but to us it still tasted like it did back then. Aka DELICIOUS! I will say I miss the napkin art on the walls. But they still have some on the walls and haven't forgotten that most unique and amazing part of themselves. Can't wait to come back and have more.

Mr. Ramen hit the spot after our musical show. The service was fast and convenient and the food was good. We ordered the Shoyu ramen combo with gyoza and curry rice, Chicken Bamboo ramen and Shio ramen extra spicy, and the Karaage.

Mr. Ramen in Little Tokyo is the kind of neighborhood ramen shop that has earned a following through comforting food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. We walked into a casual, unpretentious space with walls covered in artwork and doodles that give it plenty of personality. The setup is modest and functional, the kind of place where the focus stays on the bowl in front of you rather than the decor. While newer ramen shops often lean into sleek interiors and trend driven menu items, Mr. Ramen feels more focused on delivering the kind of meal that keeps people coming back year after year. The menu covers a wide range of ramen styles, but the tonkotsu and fried chicken ramen stood out most. The tonkotsu delivered a rich, deeply savory broth paired with noodles cooked to the right texture, while the fried chicken ramen offered something a little different. Crispy pieces of fried chicken added both texture and substance to the bowl, creating a combination that feels uniquely tied to the restaurant. The curry ramen is another favorite, bringing a heartier and more robust flavor profile than the traditional options. Beyond ramen, gyoza and bento boxes round out the menu for anyone looking for a larger meal. Despite its modest appearance, the restaurant has a warm and comfortable energy that fits naturally within Little Tokyo. Service can occasionally slow during busy periods, but the friendly atmosphere and satisfying food make it easy to understand why the restaurant has remained a reliable destination for ramen lovers. The staff handle the steady flow of customers with a casual efficiency, and the pace of the meal stays relaxed even when the dining room fills up. What makes Mr. Ramen memorable is not any single trend or specialty ingredient, but its consistency. It delivers the kind of comforting bowl of ramen that feels familiar, filling, and dependable, making it one of those places that continues to hold its place in Little Tokyo's crowded ramen scene without needing to shout for attention.

Went for a late night ramen bowl. Service was fast at this time of night with about 4 other tables being waited on. The waiter explained the people's top choices and I decided on the Miso kimchi ramen with a hard-boiled egg and a chicken cutlet. It was good choice of ramen even though I heavily lean on protein topped ramen options overall. Definitely one of the spots to go to in little tokyo.

Thiss is the 4th ramen place I've tried in little Tokyo and in general ramen does not speak to me very often. However I decided to give this place a go as I've heard this is a classic staple in LT LA. I'm so pleased to admit that although I was hesitant about ordering a tonkotsu ramen, I think I've finally found a place that caters to my specific palette and it's funny to me lol. Reason being is most mature taste buds prefer the fatty char siu pork, the soft boiled jammy eggs and I'm just a kid over here!! Like you're telling me my bowl came with perfectly al dente noodles, a perfectly (hard) boiled egg AND cuts of pork without the fatty marbling that I don't preference in ramen?! Not to mention the main character- the pork bone broth that is light, soft in creamy/milkiness and perfectly salted. Thank you Mr Ramen for this experience and for renewing my love, or helping me find my perfect bowl of ramen. Also pricing is fair- I had a combo which came with pork fried rice for $18. Will be back.

Steady and reliable Japanese food. Nice karaage, plentiful portions. Hamburgers are good. All the (insert protein choice)_don bowls are generous and flavorful. Much better than a market food court, maybe not as fancy as some of the nearby ramen/udon shops, but reputable and right in the heart of LT. Service has been always equally considerate and friendly. I've personally always liked their version of cold soba summer noodles (hiyashi chukka). It's easy to pick, focus on who you're with (and in that way, kind of an interesting test place for first dates because between the ginormous menu and not a lot of distractions (no big TVs, music or loud chatter) it makes for getting to know someone under optimal conditions for seeing how people behave with no pretense. Parking is street, or the lot behind East-West/MOCA or the less expensive City underground parking at 1st and Judge John Aiso St across from EWP.

Park in nearby structures + outdated interior with carpeting + no wait time. Ordered the shio ramen ($13) which tasted okay, the broth and noodles didn't really stand out. Better ramen places in Little Tokyo.

Fried Chicken Ramen The star of the show was definitely the Fried Chicken Ramen.

Fried Chicken Ramen The star of the show was definitely the Fried Chicken Ramen. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy on the inside, providing a great textural contrast to the noodles. Often, fried toppings can get soggy in broth, but these held their crunch remarkably well. It's a great spot for a quick lunch or a late-night meal after exploring DTLA. The service was fast, and the portions were more than enough to leave me satisfied.

This place never misses to amaze me. Has turned into my family spot for sometime and we just love it. The food is amazing and delicious. The service may take sometime depending on the time of day. Highly recommend Sundays. The restaurant has always good tunes and the artwork is just breathtaking Love this place! It's

Mr. Ramen, more like big daddy ramen! They punch a good flavor where the broth is liquid gold and that soft boiled egg is my way of saying "Hey, look at me. I'm fancy and I can get my egg fix during this egg shortage." The perfect stop to feel boujee, comfort and flavor. The space itself is small but cozy inside, with patron artwork along the walls that make you think everyone and their mama can draw but you. But that's ok, because you are eating Mr. Ramen, with the noodle goodness of a good hug letting you know, you don't need to be an artist to enjoy this bowl. A noodley cuddle for your soul, if you will. Edible therapy, without the cost of a therapist, and a great staff who won't judge you for eating ramen at 12pm or 12am.

Is there any outdoor dining right now?

We take only to go orders at moment. Postmates available :)

When will you open for lunch take out?

We are open for 3:00pm to 10:00pm :)

Is this place open for outdoor dining?

Yes, we are. Open hour is 3:00pm to 10:00pm.

Can you order ramen to go?

Sorry, we no longer take to go orders.

    Is there any vegan ramen?

Yes! There was two options I believe. They have a vegetarian menu that you can ask for that has other vegan options in it as well!

Do they have spicy miso ramen? Or an option to add spice to tonkotsu?

They offer spicey Ramen and Vegetarian Ramen. Large portions. Extra toppings are available.

What are the red things added to the curry and ramen? They look like bell pepper but don't taste anything like them and they are almost savory. They're so delicious.

They're called fukujinzuke - a type of pickle relish of mostly daikon radish.

The restaurant really felt like stepping into a ramen shop in Japan, especially with the booths and the bar seating right in front of the cooks making the ramen. It was fun being able to watch them prepare the food. My friend and I both ordered the Daikoku Ramen since it was listed as their top seller on the menu. The broth was so rich and creamy, and the noodles were really good and chewy. The marinated egg was also cooked perfectly. The whites were nicely set while the center was still gooey, with a little bit of sweetness from the marinade. Overall, we really enjoyed the ramen and had a great experience. Overall the ramen isn't bad, chashu is nice and fatty and tender. Ramen is rich and filling. It's nice that it already comes with an egg too and you don't have to add another one. Lots of other side dishes and combos too if someone in your party doesn't want ramen. However, with the increases in prices, the fact that there's many other options in LT, and the fact that there are other Daikokuya locations, it's an alright LT option.

They were very knowledgeable in what was gluten free and what wasn't. The only unfortunate part is that all the meats are marinated in a sauce that is not gluten free. So you can only get tofu or no protein. Even if you select no protein, it comes out to be the same price. Other than the gluten free ramen, we ordered a karage bowl, dry spicy ramen, and spicy tuna roll. The karage bowl had chicken that was NOT fried. I'm not sure how it's cooked but the chicken came out slimy. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to crunchy karage. The dry ramen had noodles that were way overcooked. The flavoring was okay. Nothing to be impressed about. The spicy tuna roll was probably the best thing there. They had pickled yellow radish that we thought was interesting.

That's the mood that pulled me into Maruya in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. I ordered the chashu tonkotsu, the classic go-to when you want to judge a ramen shop by its bones. And the verdict? It was... fine. Not bad, not memorable -- just okay. The kind of bowl that doesn't offend you but doesn't linger in your memory either. No standout richness in the broth, no chashu slice that made me pause mid-bite. Just noodles, doing their job. This is actually the second ramen spot I've tried in Little Tokyo, and I'll admit -- I'm starting to feel a little underwhelmed by the neighborhood's ramen scene so far. For a pocket of the city with so much culinary history packed into a few blocks, I expected to be a bit more wowed by now. Two tries in, and I'm still searching for that bowl that stops me in my tracks. What did stand out, though, was the service. The staff at Maruya were genuinely warm and helpful -- attentive without hovering, quick to check in, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to root for the place even when the food doesn't quite deliver. It's the kind of detail that softens an otherwise middling meal. So, Little Tokyo ramen crawl: two down, verdict still out. The people have been great. The noodles? I'm still waiting to be impressed. I was seated at the counter and didn't have to wait long for the waitress to come around, who recommended ordering via the QR code on the wall in front of me. I liked that it wasn't the *only* way to order, though, and that I can still have a human interaction and order with the waitress if I prefer. There was so much on the menu that I wanted to try that I actually had a tough time ordering, but I eventually decided on the mabo ramen. I was surprised by how big the bowl was, filled with a generous serving of noodles and mabo tofu. It was fantastic, and such a unique ramen compared to what most places offer. I returned three months later on another weekend trip to L.A. and went with the chicken katsu curry. This time, my husband came with me and he got the tenshin chahan ankake, which is a big pile of chahan (fried rice) covered in a shrimp omelette with a gravy pour-over. The katsu was juicy on the inside and incredibly crispy on the outside, in a flavorful curry with a nice little kick of heat. My husband really liked the chahan and cleaned his plate. We finished the meal with an order of the pudding, which had a subtle caramel sweetness and wasn't too cloying or overwhelming. There was a stark difference in how busy they were the first time I visited versus the second. I think I just got lucky the first time and ate there during a lull, because there was no wait to get in on a weekend night and hardly anyone eating inside. But when I came by the second time, we had to put our names on a waitlist, there were a few parties ahead of us, and they were short-staffed. We were seated within 10-15 minutes of putting ourselves on the waitlist and the waiters and waitresses were all very nice despite the crush of customers. Food still came out pretty quickly, too. Kouraku will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this November. They've certainly earned it, and I hope they continue on for more decades to come. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
