Went for drinks only while waiting to check into our room. The views are decent and the servers and bartender were very nice. The drink prices on the other hand are outrageous. 36 euro for the smallest martini I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but still. Paid about 82 euro for two martinis and a non alcoholic drink. Probably gonna steer clear for the rest of our trip. There are much better and more affordable options outside the hotel.

A very solid steakhouse located in the W Amsterdam Hotel. We stayed at the hotel during the first leg of our trip and figured MR PORTER would be a great first night meal because of jet lag. The restaurant is very nice with a solid wine list with meat and fish entrees. We sat at the Chef's Table which I would highly recommend to watch the team in action. They are also very interactive and are more than happy to answer any questions and let you know what they are preparing. We started with the Jamon De Bellota Iberico. It was solid, but nothing like the Iberico we had last year in Barcelona. It's not their fault since it's so difficult to compete with Spain on this dish. We also split the Bone in Ribeye which was quite good, cooked and spiced perfectly. We always like to treat ourselves to a steakhouse when we travel, but it's getting more and more difficult to pay steakhouse prices. I have basically mastered steak on my BGE, but going to a steakhouse is still such a treat. Would I go again, absolutely, but there are so many great options in Amsterdam.

Oh the view. And the service. Listening to the mixologist (artists really) shake up something amazing while looking out at beautiful Amsterdam is indescribable. I have been here 3 days in a row for happy hour. LOVE We ate at Mr. Porter as well. See review for that.

Amazing service, food, and atmosphere. Classy establishment and will go again if we find ourselves in Amsterdam again.

Lamb Ossobucco

Located atop the W Hotel, Mr Porter Steakhouse offers an unforgettable dining experience with its chic ambiance and stunning views of Amsterdam. The atmosphere is vibrant and sophisticated, making it an ideal spot for a special night out. I highly recommend making a reservation, as this popular spot tends to fill up quickly. I ordered the lamb ossobuco, and it did not disappoint. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone, and the portion was generous. A word of advice: they don't offer to-go boxes, so be mindful of how much you order! For dessert, I opted for one of their coconut-based options, infused with Tom Yum spices. The combination of flavors was both unique and absolutely delicious, making it a standout part of the meal. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. My only issue was the blond hostess who I thought was a little rude right when we walked in. I was dressed casually and there were a lot of equally casually dressed people at the restaurant (T-shirts and baseball cap) so I'm not sure what her deal was. Everyone else was very nice once we sat down.

Great location, wonderful setting & ambiance. My husband & I were having dinner with another couple. We started off with great appetizers, the artichoke & onion loaf were very flavorful. We shared a Mr Porter steak along with ribs that had an Asian infused flavor that were both delicious. Three sides items complimented our meal and it was total perfection. Our server Gillian & his team delivered wonderful service. 10 out of 10 rating.

Mr Porter, Spuistraat 175 within the W Hotel,, was on our shortlist for our recent trip to Amsterdam. Colleagues had mentioned the spectacular view of the city, located right behind the Royal Palace (Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam). The menu was also intriguing - if we can couple its modern cuisine with its spectacular views at sunset - we think we got our culinary haven for the night. The restaurant and lounge are both on the roof - and, indeed, have spectacular views of Amsterdam - primarily north, west, and south. To its east is a likewise spectacular view of the Royal Palace, with views of its grand facade. The view, coupled with a very modern, glass and steel look. The restaurant is open - with views extending from one end through the kitchen and the city's landscape beyond. We believe it may be one of the few rooftop restaurant/lounges in the city. Reservations are required; you should do it a few days in advance. [Be aware that some restaurants in the city do require a reservation and a deposit, similar to Los Angeles or New York.] We noted a lot of formal business attire, but we don't think it was necessarily required (the lounge was much more informal, and there was cross-over between the two). We sat at the bar, which was preferable -it had a great view of the entire restaurant, with the patio literally behind us. Our bartender servers were quite friendly. We started with two cocktails - the Citric Habit and the Basilieus. Cocktails were made carefully and as expected for a restaurant of this caliber. To start us off, they provided a bread service - a buttery Naan with a side of olive oil and aromatics...warm and unctuous. After some study, we ordered the Taboon Roasted Foie Gras and the Roasted Aubergine Grated Egg for starters. The latter was already on my shortlist before our visit. The aubergine with grated egg was salty and tart and a nice refreshing way to start the meal, cleansing the sugars from the drinks. The foie gras was one-of-kind, at least by us - it was prepared perfectly, lightly warm, soft as a pillow. We can still taste the sauce; it added a cloying sweetness - amazing. Speaking with our server, we asked that he help us decide - we had just come off two days of red meat and looking for a change of pace with fish. He had us go for the Sea Bream Spicy Tomato Casserole, but then go for the Taboon Roasted Sea Bass in Adobo Sauce - this avoided the other fish entree with a similar tomato base. Like the Foie Gras, the Sea Bass was similarly prepared in a giant clay oven - we suspect the high heat and wood fire add the flavor. Quite amazing and perfect for our mood. The Sea Bream was similarly delicious, perfectly prepared - soft and well suited for the intense flavor of the tomato. With our entrees, we ordered their Mac & Cheese with Cauliflower - this came out piping hot in a small cast iron pot. Throughout the dinner, we made sure to explore the patio and the floor - before we lost the sun. We got gobs of one-of-a-kind shots of the city and of the Royal Palace. When night came, we did more of the same - breathtaking! Now - one surprise. When we were wrapping up dinner, we asked for some containers to take back to the hotel. They apologized and said that they don't do that. I don't think I've ever heard of that, but when in Rome...luckily, we were nearly done. But, it put a crimp in getting dessert. We watched other parties and wondered what they would do if they had ordered a full bone-in tomahawk. Sneak it out in your jacket? Keine problem as we say in Germany - all in all, a wonderful meal in a stylish backdrop that can't be beaten. Check out Mr Porter when you want to take a break from the ground level of Amsterdam on your next visit! Check out more allstreetsgourmand.com, and please like and subscribe - we appreciate you!

So, I had made reservations on Thursday evening, but our plans changed and we had to cancel. We tried again the next night, but had to pay a non-cancel "deposit" of 10 euros each for our party of five, 50 euro. But we were sure we could make it and booked. Now if you're thinking that the deposit was charged due to our prior cancellation, it's not the case since another person in our party booked the second reservation. It was well worth the deposit! Firstly, the location is in the Rembrandt area and very nice and active area. We were seated just inside the restaurant, with a very comfortable table, seats and window. The ambiance is great with popular music playing and a very bustling staff that is very attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu is vast and includes a lot of great options including French favorites such as frog legs and snails. We started with an adventurous order of the frog legs and they were amazingly good and the sauce was amazing! We ordered a bit of family style including the Cote Beouf, French onion soup, baked potato, fries, vegetables, chicken, ribeye. It was the perfect amount for the five of us and left room for dessert, which we ordered as a brownie and we asked for a custom dessert of ofogato, or ice cream with espresso poured over, an Italian favorite of mine! The price is reasonable and can highly recommend!

Since we came pretty late, none of the appetizers were available and only steaks. Which was fine for me, since I didn't want to waste any valuable calories on anything but steak. Ordered a massive Côte de Beouf (800 grams or 28 ounces) and some Grilled Vegetables on the side. This was an extremely well-cooked steak! European medium rare borders closer to rare than medium, which is fine for me as long as the steak is cooked well. Quite tasty! Service was fine, no complaints from me. Honestly can't believe I've never been to De Nachtwacht before. Definitely need to come back.

This restaurant came to us as a recommendation from the concierge from our hotel and we are so glad…read morewe listened. It's a nice little place, you can sit in the front of the restaurant where the chefs are cooking or the back dining room, away from the outer doors. We opted for the front, it was neat to watch them cut and cook our meat. We went with the Wagyu carpaccio, scallops, and tuna tartare as the appetizers. These were all absolutely incredible. So fresh tasting, made to perfection. The right amount of flavor. Next we ordered the tomahawk. We didn't realize until after we were eating that it was bison. It was so fantastic, I'm actually glad we didn't know because neither myself or husband had ever tried it before so it gave us the chance to try something new that we may not have ordered. It was cooked perfectly for us. The right amount of pink. It was so tender to chew and in my opinion the right about of fat on the cut. The lobster was great, it had the right amount of butter than a slight hint of lemon, not overpowering. The breads were good but the butters stood out, absolutely heavenly. So creamy and flavorful. I am going to dream about this when we leave. The broccoli/cauliflower and mushrooms were just ok to us, nothing gave us a wow on them. Overall the meal was fantastic. My husband said it was the best meal in his life. Our server was very kind and attentive. The chef and owner were also exceptional. Everyone made us feel very welcomed and taken care of. We never felt like we were being overlooked or ignored. We would recommend this place if you're looking for a great meal and service and not a bad price tag. For the quality of food, the price is on par with that and worth it all.
