But If there is a safety concern like brakes. They will try to hold your car hostage and won't release it. They told me i needed new brakes and the price was way too high. So i told them that i couldn't fit that into my budget and choose not to go with them. So they then told me they would not release my car because it's a safety concern. Which it wasn't because the brakes still had a few months left on them. Either way my normal mechanic is about half the price. So i wanted to take it to him. I was only at Meineke for the cheap oil change they advertised. They wouldn't let me leave and tried keeping my keys, but i had a spare set in my pocket . So i jumped into my car and told them i would drive right through their bay door and said it will cost them a new door. Finally the owner or boss said he would let my car go, but they were not going to be responsible and that they warned me about the brakes.
