We have a 5-year-old home in a 65+ community in Woodstock. After buying our home about a year ago we noticed a couple of areas in the wood floor that needed some attention as it was separating from the concrete in a couple of small traffic areas. Here is the update I said I would post. Although it's been an adventure with this company, they did come out on 7/20 and 7/21 to redo the floors. The floors where done properly this time around. In the end the floors look very nice. Also refunded moving furniture cost because of the issues with the new sofas. In the end, like I said in an earlier review, issues will happen, but it's how you handle them that counts. Bottom line, my floors look very nice and that's what counts the most. Corey handled everything like he said he would. I would recommend but advise to stay on top of things. read more

We made an appointment and they changed it. Thats fine. I followed up twice prior to the new appt and they assured me they'd be here. They never showed up. No phone call, no text message or email. And yes, Corey came and told me the old wood floors could be saved instead of ripping them up and put in new ones. Almost three years ago, Mr. Hardwood installed hardwood and carpeting in my home. The hardwood product, service, and attention to detail was exceptional. The carpet installation wasn't. The first was defective carpeting. The owner and manufacturer replaced it with similar carpet, also defective. The owner told me several times the manufacturer would come to review. Two "makeshift" repair attempts didn't fix the problem. Both times, the owner and service manager didn't call to check if problem was fixed. The owner told me again a manufacturer word visit again. We needed work done on some water damaged flooring. Ken came out promptly to give advice & offer a quote. While we appreciated the quote, time spent & the great advice, once we were ready to have the job done, no one called us back. We emailed questions & got no response. We left Ken 3 voicemails in anticipation of starting the work with not only no response, but eventually going straight to voicemail, which pretty much stated in our minds that we'd either been blocked or we were being ignored. We even waited 2 weeks before pursuing other companies for the job, hoping to get a response to give you our business. Thankfully, that led us to checking out 5 other companies. All 5 gave us cheaper quotes & with better response times. 3 stars to thank you for giving us the opportunity to find several companies at half the price quoted & to show us how companies that want our business respond. The quality of the work was great. I had issues with the front office, cleanup of the job site and walkthrough at the end. 1) The front office processed my deposit down payment twice. I had to let them know it was done. Mr Cory did call me but I had to ask for him to call me back. 2) Someone from Mr. Hardwood broke the top of my birdbath in the front yard and said nothing till I asked about it. 3) Several cigarette butts where left on the driveway and walkway. 4) The 220 electrical plug to dryer was unplugged for the sander but never plugged back in. 5) I did not have a walkthrough of the job until 3 days after it was done. read more

The work included fixing some damage in the basement and restoring all floors; over 6,000 SF. I have to thank James again for showing me color samples multiple times. Wow. Just wow. Here I am writing a 5 star review before the job is even done because of something that happened today. I am a single mother who lives within the city of Atlanta. I'm saying that because it means I had, one, no one to help me move my furniture, and two, no garage to store it in while my floors were being done. I elected the options of having Mr. Hardwood Inc. rent a POD for me, and move my furniture into it and back into my house afterward. I chose these upgrades because even with them included, the price was very reasonable. I also chose to have my quarter rounds (replacement of them included in the price) painted white and not stained to match the floor. I came home the second day of the job to a completely done floor that I could actually walk on (because I was upgraded free of charge to a water based finish) and my furniture placed in the exact same way that it was before. I marvelled at my brand new floor. I wanted to lay down on it, and if I actually did, well, no one would blame me. It was that awesome. BUT, there was one thing that bothered me: the quarter rounds and baseboards were kind of a mess. I felt pretty disappointed thinking about how I painstakingly paint them every now and them to keep them fresh and here they are dingier than ever, and this is after I paid extra to have them painted. I just told myself that maybe that was the price you paid to get beautiful floors, which brings me to the events of today. My phone rang and it was Mr. Hardwoood, Inc. I grabbed my debit card and stepped away from my desk, thinking they were calling to collect the remaining balance. To my surprise, they were calling to schedule the painter to come out! I don't think the lady on the phone could tell but I was completely surprised and elated. The painter is coming out tomorrow morning, and I am confident that my 5 star review will remain intact afterwards. read more

The sales guy who came out what personable and gave a good price quote. My floors look great, but there were a few mistakes made. They only filled some of the nail holes from the carpet that was previously there, not all of them. They also spilled stain on the walls in a couple of small spots and quite a bit on the stairs. They said they would come fix it but they never did, and I'm too tired of having contractors in my home to pressure them about it. Especially now since I've since moved in with my pets. Overall, I would still recommend them... with the caveat that you should be diligent about checking their work, stating things clearly before hand (i.e., if any stain is spilled, I want it fixed within X amount of days). Also, instead of putting my stairs on the invoice, they wanted me to pay the guys doing the work directly.... who over charged me, first stating they would do it for $30/stair but then charging me $300 for 9 stairs. And I would have preferred all of the work to be on the invoice. They're still getting 4 stars because of the price and definitely a better job than I could have done if I had tried to do it myself. read more

The owner of this business (Corey) is so super professional. After reading my initial review he contacted me personally. He spent well over an hour on the phone with me. He wanted to completely understand my interaction with his employee. This place gave to high of a price for such a small space. Plus they have a requirement it has to be a certain amount to meet there needs that's bad business. There are not enough words to express my gratitude for Mr. Hardwood! We scheduled our hardwoods to be refinished the week after cobb county, ga mandated shelter in place restrictions. Due to extremities of the unknown at that time, we didn't know what to do. We dreaded having to call Mr. Hardwood about our concerns bc we were fully prepared and expecting to be pressured to move forward with plans. Finally made the call and we were pleasantly surprised at the response. It was business as usual for his industry and our hesitation was met with nothing but empathy and understanding. We did not once during the entire conversation feel any frustration from the owner that we wanted to wait to have our floors done and w/o a definite answer as to when we would feel comfortable to proceed or have the time again. So I lead with that bc that was just the icing on the cake of our first impression of the owner. We got 2 quotes and Mr Hardwood was our 2nd bidder, both owners were friendly, passionate and professional. Definitely experienced and have a love for the craft of refinishing hardwoods. To our surprise, both quotes came in w/in a few hundred dollars of each other when we took out the extras we added to the job, which was so nice bc it affirmed the feeling we got from both of them that they were seasoned and knowledgeable professionals that translated to us that their calculations had a true logical real time formula (materials, labor, time) that was fair. Initially bc his presentation was exceptional and POS left were so professional and relevant, equal to a large national company meant that his quote would come in significantly higher and in our best interest, should get a 3rd quote to measure against. We also loved that both owners would both be onsite throughout the process and involved in the work. So why did we go with Mr. Hardwood? From a business perspective, we were immediately impressed w/his presentation for a locally owned small businessman. We could tell Mr Hardwood ran an organized successful business. He was able to provide very clear processes and timelines for the cadence on the job. He took notes, was flexible, listened with an open mind and lead willingly when asked to give his recommendations and supported them with photos of previous work to help us decide. I find sometimes contractors are not able to eloquently help customers make the right decision or upfront about their abilities/experience or are a hard sell to go with their personal opinion that may not match your personal style or budget. His proposal was organized and clear. We knew exactly what we were getting down to the products he would be using. So in the end we choose Mr. Hardwood bc we felt confident that he would deliver to our expectations, there would be no surprises and no corners cut on quality of work. He was onsite the first day, personally started the job and everyday after to check on the progress and personally touched anything he felt needed touching. He definitely takes pride in his work and it was apparent that his crew has been with him for a long time which further emphasized our confidence in him and business health. In addition, he's invested in his office personnel, customer service was excellent! Recently after discovering a mysterious accident on our hardwoods that started eating away at the finish, we emailed Mr Hardwood to seek his guidance for fear if we waited it would lead to a job we didn't want to have to spend the money on, but necessary. To our surprise, he immediately responded, asked us questions, had me take pictures and came out the next day w/o hesitation to stop the "bleeding" if you will.
