I am so glad i contacted Johnny. Johnny is a perfectionist (which is a great thing for an electrician), he really thinks through everything and asks good questions. He completed three jobs for me. The first was replacing 3 bath fans in our bathroom. He ended up recommending a humidity and motion sensing fan in the shower which we now love! The second job was replacing all of our old incandescent bulbs with LEDs. Again, his attention to detail was key. We discussed color temperature and we decided on 2700K. he replaced all of them and it really modernized the look for minimal cost. will also save money over the long run. After finding him highly recommended on both Yelp and Nextdoor, he quickly responded to my request for a quote to hang 12 pendants in an old tree in our backyard. This is regrettably long overdue... A few months ago I committed to repairing and upgrading the lighting in front of my home. After reading reviews here on Yelp and receiving several neighborhood referrals, I contacted Johnny. He was incredibly responsive, exceedingly flexible with schedule, and though my project was relatively small and not at all an emergency, he really made an effort to fit me in immediately. There were a few different options for addressing the spot light fixture that a landscaper had broken quite some time ago, and Johnny gave me choices to accommodate a range of preference and price, and address the junction box to be sure that the fixture was safe, sustainable and energy-efficient. I appreciated that he wanted to provide me with a superior product and installation and was also mindful of my budget. Cut to, there were some defects with the hardware that he purchased and Johnny really stood behind every aspect of hardware and installation. I was also very particular about the way a few details were managed and he could not have been more kind, understanding, patient and eager to please. Ultimately the job required a return visit and some adjustments and imagine how shocked I was to find Johnny quietly working in front of my home after he drove by without promoting, to be sure the spot was hitting the house in just the right way, and took it upon himself to make the necessary adjustments knowing what I wanted. In total, Johnny was at my home three times. Not because he didn't do the job right but because he wanted to make sure that the job was perfect. He didn't ask for an extra dime. Just wanted to do the right thing. How refreshing! Johnny's workmanship is really top-notch. I contacted Johnny as I had just purchased a new refrigerator and all of a sudden the plug behind the refrigerator did not work which made numerous plugs not work. I called him because of his good reviews. I told him what the problem was and he diagnosed most of the problem right on the phone. This was a Saturday but he still came over. The problem was what he had told me but even worse, My wires were loose, burnt, and disconnected from excessive heat from my old refrigerator. They were sparking and smoking when he took off the plug cover which I was unaware of. If he had not come over when he did, I probably would have had a fire. He fixed all the problems by rewiring it and cutting out the burnt wires. Johnny is extremely aware of all electrical problems and explains it to you and shows you the problem which was appreciated. He is very nice and personable and makes you feel very comfortable that he knows what he is doing and is very trustworthy. Really I'd say 2.5 stars. Super fast coming over to give me an estimate, a major plus, but was REALLY expensive and not exactly what wanted. Also he spent a lot of time telling me how messy my attic crawlspace was with the blown-in insulation. When it was a possibility that I'd give him the job he was going to cancel on someone else to do my work. I didn't use him but didn't like that kind of attitude. If he would be so quick to cancel someone else's work to do mine, he'd be just as likely to last minute cancel my work to do someone else's. After I discussed his pricing with my husband I called him to ask him about other options that were potentially more affordable for me and I felt like he was kind of a jerk and he made it super clear that he didn't want my business by being difficult and not giving me a straight answer and saying he'd have to do it hourly to make sure he covered himself on costs. read more

Can't believe it's taken me so long to rave about Johnny/Mr. Goodvolt!   In the middle of my remodel I was getting let down left & right.  Contractors were so busy and charging outrageous prices for what wasn't even good work.  My duplex needed a panel upgrade - a big upgrade.  But the electricians I'd used in the past gave me an outrageous price, didn't seem to understand how to do the upgrade, and gave me zero guarantees on their work.    After contacting Mr. Goodvolt, he called and left me a message that floored me.  Johnny laid out his credentials as a master electrician of 50 years and said he would do my job - and get this - *guaranteed that not only would it pass inspection, but it would pass the first time*!  I've never heard anything like it!  Because he not only said it would pass the first time - there was not the slightest whiff of bullsh*t artist to be found in his voicemail.  I played his message for all of my friends over the next couple of days - it was just *that* different! Johnny did the job, was here for the inspection and it *did* pass on the 1st try.  He did all of his work the right way (oddly rare for electricians!).  He worked with the goofy 90-year-old wiring of the building - wiring that's been subject to a great deal of jackassery between then and now.  Johnny has a great personality and I loved every chance I got to talk to him - but mostly I loved that he left me alone! There's a lot of the remodeling I'm doing myself and am so tired of needy so-called-adult so-called-professionals. My job was as big & miserable a job as a building under 2,000 sq ft. building can provide. We had a minor issue with our outside outlets. Left a message on a Saturday- a prompt return call on Monday( it wasn't an emergency so didn't expect a return call immediately). Once he looked at the circuit breakers, he saw what the problem was....although we tried to be sure the breakers were off/ on...one wasn't totally turned back on. I contacted Mr. Goodvolt Electric to inquire about having a whole house fan installed. I was called back and subsequently visited by Mr. Johnny Persinger, who is indeed Mr. Goodvolt himself. Johnny impressed me very much with his knowledge of residential electrical systems and the mix of old equipment at my home. He was confident that he could utilize my existing panel for most of the work needed. He moved about with authority and yet a casualness that comes from forty years of experience and knowing what he is doing. Johnny is also a dog lover. My dog sensed that and just loved Johnny! Johnny definitely made a new friend there, When discussing price, his bid was more reasonable than the other we had been given. Not only was his bid better, his knowledge of the job I wanted done and the type of equipment I was interested in, far exceeded that of the other electrical contractor. So I hired Johnny to do the job. Johnny purchased the needed equipment and dropped it off at my home on a Saturday. The following Monday he started work promptly at 7:30 AM. He laid down plastic sheeting and taped it down to protect the floors and carpet. He then got busy and he works so fast I was really impressed. He told me that due to the attic getting super hot during the day he would work fours on Monday and then four hours on Tuesday. So he worked from 7:30 to 11:30 each day. But wow, how much he got accomplished that first day amazed me. He actually got the whole house fan installed into place as well as did lots of electric circuit stuff in just the first four hours. His attention to the small details and making sure everything is done well and professional looking was very much appreciated. He also cleaned up and left everything spic and span before he left for the4 day. The next day he was promptly starting again at 7:30 AM and he installed a powered gable fan and light and switch inside the attic, and did all the wiring and breaker panel work and other stuff needed. Once again he cleaned everything up spotless. He explained in detail to my wife and I how our new whole house fan system works, and what we need to do to operate it efficiently. It works great and I am very, very pleased. Johnny is a very personable fellow, very polite, and very professional.
